1 Upper Austby Farm Cottage is a delightful cottage nestled in Langbar, North Yorkshire.

Ideal for families and friends, this abode boasts a woodburning stove and lovely rural vistas in the Yorkshire Dales.

Step through the porch and into the sitting room, where the space opens up around a woodburning stove that draws everyone together at the end of the day.

An L‑shaped sofa and an additional sofa offer plenty of room to stretch out, whether you are settling in with a book or sharing stories from a day on the hills.

From the window, countryside views frame the room, bringing the outdoor setting firmly indoors as daylight fades.

From here, move through to the kitchen and dining area, where wooden fixtures add character to a space designed for easy, sociable meals.

The fridge and freezer keep local produce fresh, while the electric oven and hob make home‑cooked dinners simple after time spent outdoors.

A kettle and toaster are on hand for unhurried breakfasts, often enjoyed while planning which footpath or village to explore next.

Just beyond, the external utility provides a practical area with a washing machine, ideal for dealing with walking clothes and muddy boots after countryside adventures.

Upstairs, the cottage continues to impress with light‑filled bedrooms, each making the most of the rural setting.

A twin bedroom enjoys far‑reaching views, offering a gentle start to the day as the countryside comes into focus.

The bathroom sits nearby, fitted with a bath and shower over, basin, and WC, and looks out across open fields where horses can often be seen moving through the landscape.

The king-size bedroom overlooks the valley, creating a restful space to retreat to at night, while the second twin bedroom provides further flexible sleeping for families or friends sharing the cottage.

Outside, guests are welcome to enjoy the shared garden, a pleasant spot to pause with a drink and take in the surrounding views.

With walking routes leading straight from the property and the popular town of Ilkley close by, days can be as relaxed or as active as you choose, balancing rural rambles with cafes, shops, and riverside strolls.

Further afield, Bolton Abbey offers riverside walks where stepping stones invite playful crossings, woodland trails wind beneath ancient trees, and the ruins of the priory add a sense of history to the landscape.

Ilkley Moor provides expansive walking with wide skies overhead, famous rock formations to discover, and viewpoints that reward the climb with sweeping scenery.

Skipton draws visitors with its well‑preserved castle, lively market atmosphere, and canal walks that encourage a slower pace through the heart of the town.

Plan a stay at 1 Upper Austby Farm Cottage and enjoy countryside walks from the door, sweeping Dales views, and easy access to Ilkley.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £350.

ILKLEY

Bolton Abbey 5 miles; Skipton 9 miles.

The old Spa town of Ilkley is the pivotal town of Wharfedale, undoubtedly the most popular of all the Yorkshire Dales. The area offers some of the most spectacular and unspoilt scenery in the land. For the walker it gives unrivalled tramping ground. High up on the moors next to the white-walled cottage of White Wells (where once donkeys carried gout-ridden gentlemen to be doused in the icy-cold moorland spring) visitors will see a carefully landscaped Victorian scene including two semi-artificial lakes and the river Wharfe meandering through the centre of the town. Ilkley still has a Victorian and Edwardian feel to it. Splendid shops, pubs, restaurants and cafés adorn the tree-lined streets. Bettys, without doubt the finest tea shop in Yorkshire, and therefore the world, is situated on The Grove. Lovely parkland, a choice of open air or indoor swimming pools and a family picnic area providing pleasure for all. It is the starting point of the 84 mile-long 'Dales Way' walk, which is breathtakingly beautiful! Nearby Bolton Abbey is one of the region's most scenic areas and the walk along the river to the 'Strid' is a must. Ilkley Moor is the subject of Yorkshire's unofficial anthem “On Ilkla Moor Baht at”.
