The Lady Rothschild Dairy

The Lady Rothschild Dairy is a magnificent trio of thatched cottages on the Ashton Estate near Oundle, Northamptonshire, with parking, communal gardens, and 13 bedrooms sleeping 25 guests. Gather your favourite people for a milestone celebration or a long-overdue reunion, where three beautifully presented houses, Constable, Turner and Gainsborough, sit together around a central courtyard that naturally draws everyone outside with morning coffees and evening chatter.

Step into each cottage and you’ll find interiors that feel considered and indulgent, blending traditional charm with contemporary style. Original details such as wood flooring, vaulted ceilings, exposed stonework and warm wood panelling create character in every corner, while elegant dining areas set the scene for shared feasts and toasts that drift long into the night. Open-plan living spaces invite the whole group to come together, whether that’s for lazy brunches, board games at the table, or a film night in the sitting area, yet the layout across three houses also gives pockets of privacy when different generations want their own rhythm.

With a variety of bedroom styles, including several ground-floor options and multiple en-suites, the set-up lends itself to multi-generational get-togethers, friendship groups, and families celebrating something special. Constable offers five bedrooms while Turner and Gainsborough four bedrooms each.

Outside, the communal grounds offer space to linger, gather around the barbecue, or simply enjoy the courtyard atmosphere before strolling to the on-site pub and restaurant for an easy evening out.

When it’s time to explore, Oundle makes a lovely day out, meander its streets, browse local shops, and soak up the feel of a traditional market town before returning to your thatched retreat. Or head out further afield to places of interest such as Hamerton Park Zoo, Nene Valley Railway and Rutland Water. Back on the estate, woodland walks and open green spaces encourage everyone to stretch their legs, while the shared outdoor areas keep the group together for those holiday moments that become the stories you retell. However you spend your days, The Lady Rothschild Dairy on the Ashton Estate near Oundle is made for memorable gatherings.
