Entering the cottage, the sense of heritage is clear, with thick stone walls and well-proportioned rooms reflecting its 1854 origins, inviting you to set bags down, open a window to the fresh moorland air, and begin to unwind as the day softens around you.
Moving through the accommodation, the spaces feel generous and easy to live in, allowing you to cook, gather, and relax together without effort, with original charm woven naturally into everyday moments and the furnishings supporting comfort rather than competing with the setting.
To the rear, a shared pathway leads you gently out of the cottage and towards the private garden, creating a gradual transition from indoors to open space, where the garden runs down towards a small stream whose gentle movement brings a constant, soothing soundtrack.

A lovely little cottage which was very comfortable and which was well looked after.
Lots of lovely old features and it was definitely a quiet and relaxing place to stay. Very comfortable beds and a well-equipped kitchen. A great base for lots of exploring in County Durham and of Northumberland. We did miss having a shower though as with three of us staying, baths weren't always very practical. As dog owners, the cottage is very dog friendly and great space and there is a lovely little enclosed garden with a gate to walks along the stream, which we loved. You do have to supervise dogs out of the cottage to get them to the garden and across the shared lane, so not quite as relaxing as just letting them out when they need a quick visit the loo - particularly in the rain! However, these little things didn't detract from a lovely stay - thank you.

Lovely cottage.
It was cosy, comfortable & well equipped.The surrounding area was very peaceful & full of wildlife.There were places to walk straight from the door.We would highly recommend this cottage
