The property

Petty Knowes Cottage is a charming, single-storey, stone property set in the small village of Rochester in the heart of the Northumberland National Park.

The property has been renovated to a high standard, whilst care has been taken to retain many original features to add a wealth of character.

Enter into the stylish sitting room which is designed with comfort in mind.

Leather sofas with throws and cushions provide ample seating with a porters chair and footstool for those who prefer their own space!

The lighting can be ambient or set according to your mood with a dimmer facility on the main light and a selection of lamps.

You can curl up on the sofas and relax in front of the open fire, play cards/games on the games table, (a selection is available for your use) and there is a 42" TV, DVD player and a large selection of DVD’s.

Walk through to the open-plan fully equipped kitchen/diner, where you will find all the necessary appliances for rustling up some delicious meals.

There is also a washer/dryer, so you don't have to bring your whole wardrobe with you during your stay.

The luxury bathroom provides a bath and over shower, with Egyptian cotton towels and sumptuous underfloor heating.

Once the evening draws to a close, retire to the super king-size bedroom which has its own woodburning stove and a wall mounted TV so you don't have to move to watch your favourite morning shows whilst relaxing in the soft Egyptian cotton bedding.

There is a secret snug (behind the mirror) with stone walls and a day bed, perfect for curling up and reading a book.

To the front of the cottage, there is a private decking area which comes with outdoor furniture, meaning you can dine alfresco or simply enjoy a refreshing drink as the sun sets.

Guests are welcome to use the owner’s hot tub during their stay, adding a spot of luxury to your romantic getaway.

Plastic glasses are provided so you can enjoy a drink whilst watching the stars or enjoying the rolling countryside.

Situated in the heart of the Northumberland National Park, you can explore the rolling countryside either by walking or hiking, perfect to take your dogs along to stretch their legs.

It is located within the International Dark Sky Park, a status that is awarded by the International Dark Sky Association.

This means that on a clear night, once the sun has set, you can look up into the night sky and see thousands of stars, the Milky Way, and the Andromeda Galaxy (2.5 million light years away) all with the naked eye.

This area is also popular for cyclists and is an easy drive to Hadrian's Wall and Kielder Forest.

Make sure you get involved with some water sports at any one of the nearby lakes and rivers.

The village of Bellingham is a 5 minute drive and has a Premier store and comes with its very own golf course, ideal for beginners and professionals alike.

The lovely village of Otterburn is 5 miles away.

OTTERBURN

Bellingham 7 miles; Alnwick 29 miles.

The delightful village of Otterburn, once the site of the famous 1388 victory of the Scots over the English, nestles close to the banks of the River Rede, between the hills and moors overlooking the North Tyne Valley.
