  • "This was our second visit as we really enjoyed our first in June."

Once again we were not disappointed. There is always a nice bottle of wine, chocolates and Darrens own free range eggs to welcome you. Nothing is too much trouble. The studio is clean with everything you need and a comfy bed. Fantastic o.

  • "This has the makings of a great holiday home with some small adjustments."

The main problem we had was the shower. Unless run at a dribble it scalds you. Being there with a plumber it was clear it’s an easy fix. Either replace the shower, not that expensive in this instance, or replace the thermostatic cartridge - slightly more expensive. The general plumbing was very noisy when we or neighbours ran water. There is an unusual mix of cooking utensils with only really a tray to use in the oven and a collection of large plastic bowls for the microwave. The saucepans were lovely, though and plenty of cups and other crockery. The bed and settee were really comfy and there’s an extra heater if needed. Overall a great holiday but the shower really needs to be addressed urgently. We would recommend and definitely stay again if this was sorted. Lovely location and great to see the hens and sheep so close up.

  • "A great place to stay, easy access to the coast and the Cheviots so all adventure boxes ticked."

A very comfy property, within easy walk of a really nice pub. Shops a short drive away. I really enjoyed my stay and cannot recommend highly enough.

  • "Overall a really nice property as a base."

Well equipped for two people and comfortable. However, the shower needs fixing. A combination of the water pressure and the temperature regulator not working properly doesn't make for a refreshing experience and is potentially dangerous. There is a risk of someone getting scalded.

A little bit off the beaten track which is what we like. Would definitely consider coming back!

  • "Very comfortable, and high quality fixtures and fittings with the exception of the shower which is difficult to control and can be scaldingly hot."

Very quiet and peaceful place Wi-Fi now excellent. Excellent location for visiting the area

  • "This was my second time at this property, so clearly my first experience was positive, otherwise I wouldn’t have returned."

The property is dog friendly and consists of a number of stables and a coach house converted into holiday accommodation. They are immaculatey clean, comfortable and have everything you need for your stay if you’re catering for yourself, even a dishwasher; but given the great food and welcome you can get at the local pubs such as the Black Bull at Etal, the Bluebell Inn just along the lane and the Collingwood Arms in Cornhill village why bother cooking when on a break? The property is aurrounded by fields and paddocks with sheep and chickens roaming free so you can’t but get relaxed when you stay here. When you choose to be more active the Cornhill-on-Tweed area is ideally suited to explore northern Northumberland and the Scottish Borders with plenty of beautiful nature and history to see. I’m already checking my diary for my third visit. So clearly I wouldn’t hesitate recommending the place.
