  • "It was a good little cottage, only 2 or 3 minutes to the beach which was brilliant."

ideal for a trip but its not one i would use again. Not really ideal for dogs as all you have is a concrete slab area at end of access alley. . Whilst the cottage had everything needed it would benefit from an air fryer maybe. Cleanliness was not too bad however, we did find the twin beds with dirty bed sheets and the duvet a pillows where not washed from previous guests. Also, in dining room end of lounge we found a quantity of breakfast cereal under the nest of tables. Also, i took one pan out of kitchen cupboard and it still had the remains off burnt scrambled egg inside it!! Some other dishes where dirty as well. I found a couple of health & safety issues, the property didn't have hard wired mains smoke detectors in the property, nor did it have a heat detector in the kitchen. Which i understand is actually legal requirement in Scotland now. Also, the smoke alarms where all inter linked which is good, however these should be fitted flat on ceilings and not on the walls! In general its a good little cottage for a short break, but not one i would return too as wasn't ideal for us really with the dogs!

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re truly sorry that the cleaning did not meet the high standards we aim to provide. Please be assured that we addressed this immediately with our cleaning team and in fact we are no longer using that cleaning company. We understand that Sykes Cottages has given you a discount as a gesture of goodwill, and we hope this helps reflect our commitment to making things right. We would have loved the chance to resolve this during your stay. Our arrival emails and the welcome file in the cottage include details on how to contact us for any maintenance or cleaning concerns, and we encourage guests to reach out so we can assist promptly. Seal Cottage is pet-friendly, welcoming up to two pets at no extra charge, with full access to the house. For added convenience, a stairgate is available if you wish to use it. The courtyard matches the photos on our website and includes garden furniture, plus a retractable gate to make the patio area fully enclosed. The cottage is a two-minute walk from a dog-friendly beach and surrounded by beautiful walking routes. All required smoke, carbon monoxide, and heat alarms are installed, interlinked where necessary, and powered by 10-year sealed lithium batteries, in line with Scottish regulations introduced in February 2022. Thank you also for your helpful suggestions regarding additional equipment. We’ll review these carefully as we continue to improve the guest experience. We hope to welcome you back in the future for a stay that meets all expectations. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage, clean, well equipped, great shower, terrace was also a huge plus, location is excellent for all amenities, especially if you have a dog, being this close to the beach is a godsend."

However, we found the mattress to be not ideal, it had no support for us, we took turns to sleep on the couch, might just be us as we're both large (not obese) people but we felt we had no support from it. Lack of wardrobe space is an issue, definitely room for one in the twin single room, the double room would benefit from some wall mounted fold away garment hanger, the kind you buy from Amazon. Would definitely stay here again all being said.

Delighted you enjoyed your stay and are planning to return. Thank you also for your suggestions and taking the time to give feedback. Property Owner

  • "Enjoyed the stay, lovely area, locals very welcoming."

The cottage in itself was fine for the two of us however I have to say it is the first place I have ever stayed that did not have any wardrobes and only one set of drawers in the singles bedroom. All that is provided are 2 hooks behind double and 4 in singles. The standard of cleaning was not as we expect with a Sykes property ( dust all down banister, on shelves and bottle in bathroom and crumbs and cig lighter under armchair cushion. This was ok for the 2 of us but I feel 4 adults would not be happy ). A bit disappointing but could have been worse. I compare it with Magpie at Morpeth and Smugglers Rock at Ravenscar.

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback and pleased you had such an enjoyable time in Eyemouth. We've passed your comments to the local company that does both the cleaning and problem-solving. Kind regards. Property Owner

  • "Very nice little cottage, bedrooms downstairs and living area upstairs, plenty of books and board games to entertain you whilst you stay."

A short walk to all amenities and town centre. Just a few niggly bits which it could to with. We had to go out and buy a corkscrew as couldn’t find one, perhaps a draining tray for the pots and maybe a few side tables in the lounge for your drinks… but apart from that it was pretty much spot on and would definitely stay again. We love Eyemouth and the friendly people it has within it.

Thank you for great feedback. Have noted your suggestions for things to improve. Delighted you enjoyed Eyemouth so much! Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely trip to seal cottage."

The location was fantastic, just 2 minutes walk to the beach and town centre. The house was very comfortable and had a great selection of board games etc…My only fault would be there was no secure space for letting the dog out. If there was a gate at the side of the door it would have been perfect but this would not stop me returning. Eyemouth is such a lovely town with a few great restaurants and fantastic fish and chip shop. Also just a 10 minute drive to Berwick Upton tweed and spital beach.

Thank you for taking the time to give feedback. Delighted you enjoyed your time at Seal Cottage. We'll investigate the options for a gate/fence next to the front door. kind regards Property Owner

Originally booked for 7 days but extended a further 3 days as everything was perfect. Would have given 5 stars except for parking as first few days was fine last night had to park a good walk away and the same in the morning when trying to leave.
