"Lovely house in a great location."
The most well equipped home I have ever stayed in..the owners have thought of everything to make it the perfect stay. Spotlessly clean and beautiful throughout, it really is a home from home. The enclosed garden was peaceful with beautiful open views and perfectly safe for our dogs. The house is in a quiet and peaceful location, perfectly situated for exploring the Northumberland coast and countryside. Thank you for a wonderful holiday. We will definitely look forward to returning in the future.

"Had a lovely week here, couldn’t fault anything."
We originally booked for 5 nights but were loving our stay so much we extended it to a full week. We have stayed in lots of holiday properties over the years, this was the best equipped we’ve ever stayed in, owners thought of everything, property is extremely dog & child friendly. It’s in a peaceful location with beautiful views, photographs don’t do it justice. It is a lovely property in a great location for walking into Rothbury, which is well worth a visit and lots to do in the surrounding areas, Alnwick, Bamburgh etc. Great communication from the owners during our stay & lovely welcome gifts on arrival. Thank you for a lovely week in your beautiful property, we’re looking forward to returning.

The bed in the master bedroom was exceptionally comfortable [we intend to copy it]! Kitchen well equipped. Loved Rothbury, just a short walk from the house. my husband was particularly drawn to the marvellous pie shop. All in all, despite some inclement weather, a lovely stay.

The property
Harefield is a splendid holiday home based in the quaint town of Rothbury, Northumberland.
It is nestled between the Simonside Hills and Cragside.
This dog-friendly property has an open plan kitchen, dining and sitting area.
It is also close to amenities so is perfect for a family trip to explore the heart of Northumberland.
Once inside the front door, you have the choice of two spacious sitting rooms, both with large sofas.
The large sitting room has a homely gas fire for extra comfort.
There is an enclosed back garden with tables and chairs – and a decking area- where you will be able to enjoy the evening sunshine.
Upstairs, an airy landing (with views of Simonside) leads to three double bedrooms and one with a king size bed.
Close to your holiday base are a variety of shops, including the Co-op (which houses the post office), four lively pubs and several churches and an art gallery.
In Rothbury you will find the National Trust Cragside house and gardens, which is well worth a visit to view the lovely scenery and woodland walks.
You can end the day with a walk along the River Coquet before choosing a restaurant of your choice.
Alnwick is well known for its Castle and Gardens.
And don’t miss out on visiting the famous Barter’s books!
If you enjoy live music the Alnwick Brewery Company and tap room will keep you entertained – as will the home-brewed ales.
Morpeth is not too far away for another day out; Vindolanda (Roman remains) and Housesteads and the Sill are less than an hour’s drive as are Corbridge and Hexham.

Alnwick 11.8 miles; Alnmouth 16.1 miles; Morpeth 17.3 miles.
The capital of Coquetdale, Rothbury, lies on the north bank of the famous salmon and trout river, the Coquet, and is dominated by the heather clad Simonside Hills. It is an attractive, small market town and its proximity to Northumberland’s National Park ensures excellent local walking. Stone houses, typical of the region, line the town’s steep main streets and there is a Post Office, a good range of shops, and a variety of eateries to take advantage of. With a golf course, public tennis courts and cycle hire close by and a variety of great houses and gardens to explore, including the National Trust site of Cragside, Alnwick Castle (home of the Duke of Northumberland), Wallington Hall and a host of famous castles, this great location has plenty to offer. Hadrian’s Wall, Kielder Reservoir and Forest, and the sandy beaches and dunes of the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are also within easy driving distance.
