  • "Great accommodation."

    Patio smaller than we thought. Would have been nice to have a bath mat for standing in the shower as a bit slippery and a few more teaspoons would have been helpful otherwise great

  • "Great cottage in a lovely village."

    We had everything we needed and more. The listing mentioned an enclosed garden, but the outdoor space was smaller than expected for our three dogs. Aside from this, everything else was excellent, very clean, and we would be happy to return.

  • "Lovely cottage, very clean comfortable and welcoming."

    Only slight downside is no wardrobe if you're staying for more than a few days but plenty of drawer space. Loved our few days there and would definable book again.

  • "We had a brilliant stay at Salmon Cottage."

    The cottage was comfortable and clean, and had everything we needed for a self catering holiday. I loved the superking bed. I can't fault anything about the cottage. The village was also great, especially the butchers and the chip van on the Thursday evening was great. Both the cottage and the village were perfect for our dog too.

  • "The outdoor seating area where we were supposed to enjoy an evening drink was a tiny square with high walls that needed cleaning or painting."

    Not a place to enjoy in the evening. Having said that, the rest of the holiday let was clean and very comfortable and we enjoyed our stay.

  • "Salmon Cottage is a comfortable place to stay in a lovely village with a village shop, good butcher, pub and hotel."

    The only downside is no wardrobe or clothes rail to hang clothes up on and only two coat hangers. Problematic. Plenty of drawer space. We have been twice now and hopefully will be back next year. Lovely walks along the Tweed five minutes away which is excellent

  • "Beautiful cottage, very well presented."

    Unfortunately we were not able to use the stove top and television with them being smart, but as we ate out most nights apart from the chip van night it was fine and the window looking out on the street was like having the tv on. It was great being back in Norham and we would like to book again at some point.

  • "Wonderful stay in an inviting and warm cottage and village."

    The local pubs and hotels were very welcoming and the food was good and fairly priced. Sunday lunch at the Masons Arms was excellent . The local shops were well stocked and the butchers were so good we bought our Sunday dinner home from them. The walks in the local area were excellent and the fact you could stand with one foot in Scotland and one in England made it even more fun. The Cottage’s provisions were great and we would very easily come back.

  • "The cottage is very spacious and warm, the kitchen has everything you need and the dishwasher is a bonus."

    I found the large bed a little uncomfortable but that's down to personal choice. The village is lovely and friendly and has everything you need. The walks behind Salmon Cottage along the Tweed are adorable. We had a fabulous time and would definitely book the cottage again...

The property

Salmon Cottage in Norham is a characterful single-storey holiday cottage that lies just shy of the River Tweed marking the border between England and Scotland.

Easily accessible from Berwick upon Tweed the property has been comprehensively and tastefully refurbished throughout while period features such as the decorative fireplace in the living room have been retained.

The result is a comfortable holiday home that promises you nothing but good times to be had by all. When you arrive at your new countryside abode, you will find a welcoming and well-designed living and dining room with a spacious layout equipped with that all important Smart TV so you don't miss out on any of your favourite shows. The historic village of Norham is most famous for its splendid Norman Castle ruins overlooking the River Tweed, painted by Turner in 1845. The village has an excellent butcher and bakery, a Post Office, grocer, newsagent and two pubs. Also nearby in the village of Allanton is a good restaurant which is great for fishing and shooting parties as well as the Cross Inn at Paxton. Berwick-upon-Tweed is just 7 miles away, at the northern tip of Northumberland’s beautiful Heritage Coast, boasting many restaurants, cafes, pubs and a nearby links golf course. The Scottish capital of Edinburgh or the city of Newcastle are easily accessed by train from Berwick. A superb base for exploring all North Northumberland has to offer.
