We had a great holiday in Kennel Cottage.

St Boswells is a lovely village with 2 good restaurants and a very welcoming book shop/ coffee shop. There are also many places to eat or have coffee in nearby Melrose. There are many local walks and tourist activities, being not far from other border towns. The cottage was clean and beds very comfy, kitchen well-equipped. Now for improvements that could made. We found it difficult to locate once we had parked in the car park, so simple directions would be helpful. There were no instructions for the heating, and there was a frost on our first morning and cottage was cold. The walk in shower cubicle needed a few bits of mould seen to and the windows could do with a clean. Unfortunately on the morning of our departure there was no water, but this was a problem with the Water Board. However we did have a great time and enjoyed our stay in Kennel cottage.

There was no visitor file for instructions for heating/electrical items, contacts, emergency contact details eg doctors etc.

There was no visitors book for recommendations in the local area. Not all lights functioned: The night lights did not work, outside light faulty, bedside lamp switch did not work, main living room light had only one bulb functioning. No hand towels with the bath towels and there was only one tea towel in the kitchen. The decor and furniture are tired and whilst we managed overall we had concerns about the mould in the shower and behind the sink. We did have a blip with the shower room fan where it had a period of intermittently variable speed which may indicate it’s on its way out! Having said all that the property is in a great location and the restaurants in St Boswells were great.
