What an absolute gem of a place!

We absolutely loved 'Charlies Cottage's and will be returning. It is quirky, comfortable, warm, fantastic garden for doggies, quiet, homely and just fab! Whilst some places say they welcome dogs - the reality is that they don't and they just seem to tolerate them whereas at 'Charlies', our girl settled in within the hour and quite simply, if she is happy - so are we! It was so lovely to be warm! I have to say I was a tad concerned about there being Storage heaters rather than central heating but genuinely I have never been so comfortable temperature wise in a rental property for a very long time! The kitchen is probably one of the best equipped we have stayed in - the first place I have found weighing scales! The freezer part of the fridge freezer is on the small side so bear that in mind when bringing food. The bedding and beds were super comfortable! Though we didn't use it, there was an electric blanket which I haven't seen for years! Swinton is a lovely little place and a great base to head out to both Northumberland and also Scotland! We crossed the Borders pretty much daily! There are some great walks from the cottage and also (a bonus for us!), fields where your dog can go off lead! You would absolutely need the car to get out and about daily and I was worried about that but the scenery is beautiful, very little / no traffic so it is very pleasant! There is so much to see within a short distance of Charlie's ...we even took our girl on her first train trip to Edinburgh one day

A lovely cottage, very well equipped and the information provided by the owner was above and beyond.

The garden was fully secure and great for our 2 spaniels to explore. We particularly liked St Abbs and Kelso but there was plenty to see in the surrounding area and even a nice walk in the village. We would definitely recommend Charlie’s cottage to anyone wanting a relaxing cottage and wishing to explore the Scottish Borders and Northumberland,
