The Old Watermill

We rented Mill Farmhouse and the neighboring Old Watermill for a week to host a family get together of 14 people including 2 children (aged 7 and 1).

The first observation is about the location. Completely private with views of meadows in all directions and a lovely stream flowing by the properties. All you can hear is birdsong. The English Coast Path is a 5 minute walk through a meadow, with the dunes and beach just beyond. The houses themselves are beautiful. Inside, everything has been built / renovated using the highest quality fittings and decor. Nothing has been overlooked. The beds and bedding are comfortable, the towels big and fluffy. Both houses had great lounges and dining tables enabling us to gather as a group. The houses are extremely well equipped and the cleanliness and condition was exemplary. It is hard to put into words just how impressive these houses are. Our dealings with Tara and Clare, the highly responsive staff, were delightful. If you are looking for a coastal retreat, surrounded by lovely countryside and convenient for Bamburgh, Alnwick, Craster etc you would be delighted by this property.

A lovely property well presented with all of the facilities you would expect.

Lovely and warm on a cold January weekend. The welcoming pack was particularly nice. Thoughts on developments or improvement ;- 1. The bedrooms are massive and could be improved with a chair and a suitcase stand. A litter bin would also be helpful. 2. The shower in the bedroom with pink beds did not perform as it should.

The property is absolutely stunning- I can quite honestly say this is the most beautiful, well appointed house we have ever stayed in - the interior decorating is so perfect for the property - calm & totally relaxing from the moment you walk in.

The bedrooms are all spacious & the soft furnishings and bedding are so comfortable & cosy that we took photos of the brand so we could purchase ourselves ! The kitchen area is fantastic - the 2 fridges & 2 dishwashers an absolute boon when there are 10 of you. There was absolutely nothing missing utensil & crockery wise - in fact it was such a refreshing change to have plenty of bowls, plates, glasses etc (including children’s plates/cups etc which was great for us). It doesn’t stop inside either ! The exterior is very attractive, lovely lawned areas where we played ladder golf & the toddlers could run around with their football. I loved the fact there were plenty of throws provided so that we could sit out later in the evening round the enormous outside table. The wild life that comes around the house is a wonderful bonus - whilst we were there we were visited by a deer, a fox, hares, pheasants, herons & a whole hosts of other birds (& by the way there was a pair of binoculars left in the house for us to use too !). The location of the property is perfect too - less than a 10 minute stroll across the field at the back & you are on the dunes & down to an absolutely stunning beach. As you can tell we were totally smitten with this home & would love to return - the perfect place for a family/friends get away !

The property was in a fantastic location and was excellently equipped and furnished.

Some finishing touches would finish it off; bathroom storage, kitchen hooks for t-towels, some chairs in the bedrooms and more options in the games area (such as pool table). We had a wonderful week.

Everything you need in this spacious house with lovely views.

This is a gorgeous house, tastefully furnished, and very spacious.

We were a multi generational family and there was more than enough room for us all to do our own thing. The real bonus was the location. Surrounded by National Trust land managed as a nature reserve. We were greeted by a hare on the lawn and he and his family visited every morning. We watched a barn owl hunting each evening and so many other birds attracted by the stream next to the house. The fabulous Beadnell bay and beach a gentle walk across the field.

Lovely property.

Superb location..Every utensil you could wish for except kettle was too small and pillows for some of us too thick. Welcome pack of food was wonderful and information about the house and area fantastic. Best holiday home we have been to and we’ve been to quite a few !

The Old Watermill is a wonderful property.

We came with a large family party to celebrate our wedding. This property is very spacious, making it ideal for a group where not everyone knew each other. The additional seating and relaxing areas meant there was space for people to find a quiet spot. The location of this property is perfect - just a few minutes' walk to the beach and surrounded by wildlife.

It’s in an amazing location - a short walk over a field brings you to the coastal path and Beadnell beach. The house itself was beautifully done and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and the welcome pack was very generous and appreciated - thank you.
