  • "A lovely comfortable cottage in a central location to all we wanted to do and see."

It was wonderful coming back most evenings especially after a drenching to open a bottle of wine and sit beside the logburner with a book relaxing. Utter bliss. The only item missing was a cafetiere and a check on up to date contact numbers is needed. I did text to ask a question and had no response. I certainly recommend this cottage.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Baytree Cottage, which was very comfortable."

The owners were most helpful with advice finding the footpaths and cycle paths from the cottage as well as what else to see locally. We were undoubtedly helped by the warmest weather in Northumberland in 25 years, but will definitely return. It would be great to visit in colder months and sit by the woodburning stove.

Hi Andrew Thank you for staying with us at baytree. It's always good to see guests enjoying their stay in the beautiful surroundings in Northumberland. Indeed you did well with weather, and yes it is equally as beautiful in the winter with its own very special feel and allure, always nice to come in to a warm fire, and a book perhaps and enjoy the peace. Until the next time, thanks again. Andrew Property Owner

The host (Andrew) spoke to us a few times during our stay and was very friendly and happy to talk to us about the area. We had a bottle of wine left for us when we arrived and were given some fresh eggs as well which were really nice! The location was perfect for exploring the coast and nearby areas. We thought the cottage was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. We loved the inglenook log burner and there was plenty of logs supply available from the wood shed at the rear of the cottage. Overall we had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend staying here.

  • "The location of the cottage was great for Alnwick, Alnmouth and beyond."

There was actually a footpath all the way into Alnwick which we would have used if we didn't have little ones with us and that would have saved us £3 on parking at the castle/gardens. The cottage was clean and very well equipped, despite having some things removed due to Covid. The host was very friendly and came to make sure everything was okay when we arrived and departed. We also enjoyed watching the cows in the field across the road, especially at feeding time. We had a small issue with the Wifi, which was remedied quickly, and I would not hesitate to recommend this cottage for someone wanting to stay in the area. It was a real home from home.

Hi nicola Thank you for staying with us with your family and enjoying the holidays despite covid. The cottage has now been put back to its former glory and is very homely ,comfortable cosy. There are some new attractions in town/castle for the kids and all the family to enjoy. You are most welcome to come and stay again at your leisure. Kind regards Andrew Property Owner

  • "Lovely holiday cottage on a working farm."

Extremely clean on arrival. Surprise bottle of wine waiting for us too! Good amount of kitchen utensils available, plenty of glasses, cups, plates, pots and pans. Lovely warm and welcoming farmhouse-type living room with real fire, which was very welcome on a typically colder English summer’s day! Comfy warm beds. The only thing to make it better would be a stronger shower, but water pressure can’t always be helped! Very friendly greeting from the owners and helpful in their advice of walks to enjoy. We love Northumberland generally but would definitely use this cottage again.

About the location

Alnmouth 4 miles; Bamburgh 15 miles; Rothbury 10 miles.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.
