"Very nicely appointed cottage, far better than others we have used."
Owner clearly has high standards, no compromise on quality relevant to all the updates. Access a little tight with just enough room to park, on cottage frontage. Very nice indeed, with Lesbury an affluent village with well stocked community run shop.
Thank you. We are glad you liked our cottage and enjoyed your stay. We are very proud of our community shop which we try to keep well stocked with local products where possible at good prices.

"This was our second visit to Willow Cottage and it was again very comfortable and enjoyable."
It is very clean and well equipped and in a delightful village, Lesbury, with an excellent community shop, an extra bonus since our last visit. The cottage is within easy reach of Alnmouth, Amble and Alnwick and well positioned for longer trips, with Alnmouth station nearby for visits to Berwick on Tweed and Edinburgh. The village pub was not so good, long waits to order in spite of booking, however, Bistro 23 in Alnmouth is outstanding. Willow Cottage is a really lovely place to stay.
Thank you for the lovely review - we are delighted you enjoyed your return visit to Willow Cottage. Our Community Shop is about to celebrate its second birthday and is at the heart of the village - we are always really pleased to hear it is appreciated. Sorry to hear your experience at the pub wasn't ideal, we've had some good meals there. Glad to hear you found a suitable alternative in Bistro 23 which we'd agree is excellent. We'd love to welcome you back in the future!

"Gorgeous cottage."
Very comfortable and cosy. Beds really comfy. In a great location for visiting the area. Kitchen really well equipped, but lacked general cleaning items. No dishwasher tablets/washing up liquid. Only I toilet roll no extras. But we had a really lovely stay, and would return.
Really pleased that you enjoyed your stay in our cottage. I am really sorry that there were no cleaning things - there should have been a small pack with some washing up liquid, dishwasher tabs, pan scrub etc. for you. I will feed this back to NCCC. We hope to welcome you back soon!

"It was a lovely, cosy welcoming cottage in a brilliant location central to lots of wonderful sights of interest."
We have been to Northumberland 5 times and this was the best cottage. The decor was homely and it was very well furnished with comfortable beds. The kitchen was well equipped and a joy to cook in. We were very comfortable there.
A couple of very small issues for the owners attention include:
•There was no cutlery holder in the dishwasher
•The leaflets could be more up to date (one was from 2016)
• There were no teaspoons! We had to buy some. We left them in the cottage for others.
• for the cost of the cottage the welcome pack could have been a little more extensive and exciting! We note that others had a welcome hamper years ago!
We really liked Lesbury village. We supported the community shop which we thought was a great initiative.
Unfortunately The Coach House was shut for renovation, otherwise we would have supported them as well.
We highly recommend The Hope and Anchor in Alnmouth - fantastic Italian food and friendly staff.
We would definitely return to Willlow Cottage and recommend to friends.
Thank you for a lovely stay :)
Thanks for the lovely feedback - we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay.
The dishwasher has a specific cutlery drawer at the top which pulls out. This is where all the teaspoons were hiding! Thank you so much for buying more though - it's very kind of you. We plan to put a sign on the dishwasher so people know the drawer is there in the future.
The Welcome Pack is a difficult issue - it's tricky to know what to include when people have different dietary requirements and when most people arrive with all they need, or have a supermarket delivery soon after arrival. There is often some wastage. Having considered your comments, we thought we would try offering vouchers for the Community Shop instead of a welcome pack. That way, people can buy what they need/want - and we are supporting the community shop too. We hope future guests will think this is a good way forward.
The Coach Inn has re-opened with a refurbished kitchen and a great new menu (we have tried the food and it is good!). I will do my best to source up to date leaflets ASAP.
We hope to welcome you back to Willow Cottage in the near future and thank you for recommending it to your friends.

"Google maps did not take us to front door of the property it took us into the yard of a neighbouring house Perhaps using What Three Words for directions would be helpful for future guests."
This is a great suggestion and I'll get onto it! Thank you

Overall the cottage was very comfortable clean and we really enjoyed it
Unfortunately the dishwasher was not working so we never got to use it
Which wasn’t a tragedy it was inconvenient
But top marks for everything else
Would definitely return again
So glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. We are really sorry the dishwasher wasn't working - thanks for alerting us to this. A new one is being fitted tomorrow. We'd be delighted to welcome you back in the future.

"This was a perfect place for a small family group to spend a few days."
Pub, shop and pleasant walks on the doorstep, and also a good base for exploring Northumberland's beaches and castles. We found all we needed during our stay and everything was in good condition.
Thank you for the lovely feedback. We are really pleased you enjoyed your stay and had everything you needed. The whole village is delighted that the pub has re-opened! It provides a warm welcome for all and will be offering food once the kitchen has been refurbished later this year. Lesbury Community Shop is largely run by volunteers and stocks household goods, newspapers, fresh fruit and veg, dairy (including ice cream), meat, bread and cakes, frozen goods and alcohol. And it has an excellent coffee machine serving hot drinks to enjoy in the shop or on the go!

It was wonderfully clean (perhaps the cleanest we've experienced) and the heating was on so the cottage was cosy when we arrived. Everything we needed was there in a lovely environment. We all had a lovely stay and will definitely be back!

Lovely comfortable & cosy cottage, well maintained & clean. Very well equipped, though a couple more mugs would be useful (when using dishwasher).
Thank you for the feedback. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. I will definitely sort out some more mugs.

"Cottage is so lovely and comfortable."
Everything there that you need. Lovely soft bath towels too! Cottage is close to all places to visit and the location of the cottage is so peaceful and quiet allowing you to unwind. It’s a shame that there isn’t a local pub within walking distance as then it would have been perfect for us as we wouldn’t have had to use the car at all. Our only complaint that we can think of if asked was that it is a little untidy at the back of the cottage as you walk out of the gate (lots of weeds on the gravel). Other than that this cottage is just perfect. We will definitely be returning again! Thank you
We are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back! Unfortunately the weather this year has been fantastic for the weeds. We aren't keen on using weedkillers because of their effects on our wildlife and despite regular hand weeding they just keep on appearing. I'll get back at them this week!

"Cottage was perfect for what we needed."
Clean and well equipped. My only negatives would be water pressure (bath takes so long to fill) although I know this is probably an area wide issue? Also definitely need a nest of tables for coffee cups etc.,
Maintenance wise- the yard and area behind needs weeding - we still enjoyed it but as a holiday home owner myself I know some guests would complain.
Thanks for the feedback and your suggestions. We are pleased that you found the cottage clean and well equipped. The water pressure is lowish in the Square as a whole - it is plenty for a good shower though. Thank you for the suggestion of coffee tables for the sitting room, we have now added a nest of coffee tables including one big enough for jigsaws etc. Finally, thanks for the heads up about the patio and back lane - we did sort the patio are quite recently but the weeds have definitely been enjoying all the rain. We will tidy this ASAP

"A comfortable cottage, very clean and well equipped, perfect for two of us in the double bedroom."
Slightly more hemmed in than we had imagined but appreciated the car parking (one medium sized car) and the little courtyard for sitting out. A very pleasant stay.
Thank you for your feedback - we are really pleased that you enjoyed your holiday and had everything you needed. Willow Cottage is part of a historic row of millworkers' cottages which are tucked away in The Square, in the Lesbury Conservation Area. We hope you'll agree that it has been sympathetically extended and restored. We're also glad that the weather enabled you to enjoy time outside in the courtyard!
