  • "Accommodation was good just needed a good deep clean cobwebs in the corners of ceilings , heating system was a bit confusing , radiators coming on at 3 am in the morning ."

  • "Unfortunately the property is quite run down and tired, despite it's great location and spaciousness."

    The hot water flow was very low. Our main disappoinment was the quality of the mattress which was very uncomfortable and tired. The heat in the property was good, however the heating was operating still during the night. We had no instructions on how to make adjustments. The cleanliness in the property was excellent.

  • "We stayed at Claremont in April 2023 and it has generally improved to some extent on our recent visit ."

    The problem with subsidence appears to have been resolved which was good to see .The accommodation remains the same as before i.e. fairly basic but comfortable. The shower is adequate but not brilliant. There are 2 matters that should be addressed by the owners, namely, the kitchen radiator is not working. My recollection is that it wasn't working 2 1/2 years ago so it appears not to have been rectified which is. poor - particularly in November / winter time. Also, the small front garden looks shabby. Next door property has had this small area gravelled and looks fine, even in winter. A little more care about the presentation of the property would reflect well on the owners. The big plus point about Claremont is of course its position which is fabulous which is why we have given an overall rating of 4.We have come to really like being at Claremont despite my comments and hope to return. Also, we really love Alnmouth.

  • "This is a really lovely, comfortable and cosy flat, literally right on the sea front giving instant access to long beach walks."

    It is in close proximity (100m) or so to some good restaurants, the local deli and general store. Also has a very smart well equipped kitchen.

  • "The property is very spacious and comfortable."

    It is a little dated, but you can see that from the photos, so it didn't come as a surprise. It was extremely clean on arrival. The property is very close to the beach and town centre, so it was a perfect location for us. We will definitely book here again.

  • "Claremount was as expected, near the coast."

    But our views of the wonderful beach was somewhat split by the front windows, because they were quite dirty. Inside, the property is well equipped, but on this occasion, it felt cold as there was neither central heating switched nor instruction on how to do so, if required. The property also features an electric shower, but an immersion switch is required if you want any hot water: either to wash your hands or to hand-wash any dishes. In this day and age of combi boilers and instant hot water, it feels rather antiquated.

  • "We enjoyed our stay and this flat is all about its great situation and view."

    The bed was comfortable but the wardrobes were difficult to use. The sofas were comfortable too but the cushions were worn and quite flat. The shower wasn’t very good. The small garden at the front could be a nice place to sit and enjoy the view if it was tidied up and a couple of chairs added.

  • "Enjoyed our stay, flat was fine, the small back yard should have something done with it so that you could sit out ."

    It is only small but there could be some sort of seating . (Even though the bins are there) but overall I would come again, the location is fabulous . Heating needs checking - it was coming on at 3am - unnecessary .

  • "We were delighted with Claremong and would definitely book it again."

    Lots of plus points - it was spotlessly clean, spacious, warm and comfortable and, of course, the view from the lounge window was fantastic. The bed was very comfortable too. It was a great help to have clear instructions for use,with photos, for all the appliances. The information file was very comprehensive. Details like plenty of hangers in the wardrobes were also appreciated. There were just a few small things that we would have liked eg hairdryer, small milk jug, chopping board (we only had the bread board), tray. We didn't expect to have to buy things like salt/pepper as our previous rented property had these basics. Given the price of the property, we were also disappointed that we had to provide our own towels. But it was a lovely flat and we would very much like to return to it.

Situated just 4 miles east of Alnwick, Alnmouth is a charming resort popular with golfers and those seeking a peaceful holiday. The village lies on a narrow spit of land between the River Aln and the North Sea and was originally the port for Alnwick. Nowadays the area has returned to its unspoilt origins and offers a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as an excellent “links” golf course and some great rivers for fishing, as well as boasting miles and miles of splendid beaches and sand dunes to explore which afford stunning views of the North Sea.
