  • "Had a lovely stay at the cottage & found it very quaint & cosy."

It was lovely & warm. Kitchen very basic & outdoor space could be nicer but did not matter to me as hadn't planned on cooking whilst I was there & was too cold to sit outside. Beautiful location & would stay again.

  • "Great location, easy access to the beach and all amenities but first appearances do count."

Having to shoulder charge the front door to get in was not a good start only to find a dirty damp carpet inside the front door and hallway. The facilities at the cottage were as listed and usable just tired especially the kitchen. The lights in the downstairs rear hallway including the loo were not working. The alleged underfloor heating was not working in the same area. The door to the rear hallway had a handle missing so could not be closed. A supplementary free standing electrical heater in the living room was not working. None of the electrical devices had PAT certificates. The weed killer stored amongst the glasses and mugs was unexpected and soon remedied. The outside yard was not a usable space without a good tidy/clean up. It appeared just neglected. Our stay was only for two nights which was enough for the overall condition of the cottage. It could have been so much better with some TLC.

  • "Mould in kitchen cupboards."

Shower screen poor ( not sealed against bath)

We were confused and surprised by this comment . We arrived on Saturday to oversee the fitting of a new cooker as well as checking over the cottage for the upcoming season. We found everything clean and in order. Try as we might we’ve been unable to find a trace of mould in any of the cupboards or even evidence of the removal of mould. If you have any relevant photos please would you forward them as obviously we find such a situation unacceptable. Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our stay, it was warm (great wood burner), cosy and comfortable (nice towels and bedding)."

It was basic and a bit dated/worn out in terms of decor and kitchen amenities but this didn’t stop us having a lovely stay and reminded us of how homes used to be like. I was glad we had our Christmas Day lunch booked locally as the kitchen would not have had the capacity to cook anything more than basic cooking. The cooker could do with a professional clean.

  • "No. 4 Percy Cottage is a lovely, warm and comfortable cottage."

The bedding and towels were beautiful and well maintained. We found everything to our liking but we did find the kitchen very basic. However, this didn’t have a detrimental effect on our holiday whatsoever and we certainly wouldn’t hesitate in booking this cottage again. It is also ideally situated for access to the beach.

  • "We had a lovely stay beds very comfy our dog settled well and we were so near the beach."

The lig fire was great and allowed us quality time to just chill. Would ho back again. Only downside was parking near to unload car but alnmouth is always so busy. Thank the owners on our behalf.

  • "A lovely comfortable cottage with everything you need."

Kitchen utensils could do with an upgrade, eg the rusty grater, but overall very clean, spacious, and well situated. Parking wasn’t too much of a problem out of season, but I can imagine it might be difficult in summer. The helpline was not helpful in terms of knowing the property, they just read the listing details.

  • "A great little cottage in a great position for the beach and walking."

Lots of pubs/ hotels/ tea rooms within easy walking distance. Cottage needs a little updating especially in the kitchen but it was well kitted out. Comfortable home and we would happily visit again.

  • "We found the cottage most comfortable it was just as advertised."

It was clean and equiped with what we needed for a weeks stay. Over the years we have stopped at Alnmouth many times and this is one of the nicest cottages we have stopped at.Would definitely recommend it.

  • "We arrived late on the Saturday with a full shop, to find that the main cooker was broken and replaced with a small counter top oven ."

Despite constant chasing it took until late Tuesday to fix the cooker. The replacement counter top oven was far from adequate, given we are a family of five. We were not informed of the problem with the cooker prior to arrival so we're not able to make any arrangements for food. It also meant we had to eat out which was expensive and we had to give away food that we had bought beforehand but we're not able to cook. To advise us of the issue before our arrival would have been respectful and appreciated Whilst the upstairs bedrooms were fine, downstairs was less suitable for a family of five. The table was not suitable for 5 people as one person was seated almost under the stairs, and another up against the wall. Whstlt the property was clean, it really needs some updating. There is a lack of any storage for food in the kitchen and the cupboards are old and a little grubby Whilst in a central position in Alnmouth, the details did not make it clear that it was on the main street which can be very busy at times. It is a real shame as it could be a lovely property with a bit of care and updating.

  • "Decor and carpets a little bit dated and would be nice if comfortable seating in garden was provided for days when it is nice to sit out and eat."

On the whole facilities inside the cottage are comfortable. This was our second stay in this cottage and would have no problem booking again when visiting Alnmouth.

  • "Cottage is located on the main high street in Alnmouth."

Parking is first come first served which we already knew about. If we decided to visit other parts of the Northumbria coast we would ensure that we returned after 5pm as normally found a space without any problems. The cottage sofas & beds were comfortable, good linens provided & well vacuumed as others have already stated. The property is tired with marks on carpets & walls but mainly in kitchen which I believe maybe due to a leak earlier in the year as noted in previous feedback. Although property is in need of full refurbishment & decoration this did not affect our stay.

  • "Excellent location."

Comfortable cottage with everything we needed for our stay. Good quality linens and plenty of towels provided. The yard at the rear, given a little tlc, would offer a pleasant space to sit in the evening. Parking an issue in Alnmouth as usual though we were not too inconvenienced.

  • "Property is in a fantastic location."

Contrary to other reviews the house was very clean. The decor and kitchen etc. are tired - but it was a great house for our needs. The outside space needs a good tidy and garden furniture replacing with enough seats for the number of people the property can sleep.

  • "Fantastic location, a minutes walk from the amazing beach."

(A lot closer than it says in the cottage notes.) Comfortable, relaxing cottage at a good price. We loved our stay. Highly recommend - particularly for those who want to be very close for getting onto a beautiful beach.

  • "The sofas in the front room, the fridge/freezer, the beds/bedding/towels were all good."

The carpets had been hoovered and the toilets and bathroom panels had been cleaned. The drawers and cupboards were grubby, cluttered and neglected. Everything had to be checked and cleaned before use. The outside space was a disgrace. Parking near the cottage was impossible, and parking spaces in the village as a whole were in short supply.

  • "The property is in great need of modernising."

The decor is extremely dated , the kitchen is a disgrace damp all over . The gap around the back door is disgraceful and also around the front door. There is mould around all the windows. I arrived around 2 thinking it would be ready the cleaner had not been. This was all pointed out after staying there in december, nothing has been dealt with. when being charged that much it should not be in such a poor state. The bed was comfy and the settees are ok thats the only good thing i can think if to say. The under floor heating in the downstairs loo didnt work so it was too cold in there. All this did put a dampner on our holiday and we spent as little time as possible in it. Alnmouth is a lovely place and it wont stop me visiting but i will book through another agent

  • "A comfortable cottage in a fantastic location."

If we turned right as we stepped out of the front door we were on a beautiful sandy beach within two minutes or if we turned left we were able to sample the delicious coffee and fine food on offer at Scott’s deli. When the bathroom toilet broke the management team were really helpful and got a plumber in to fix it the same day. The seal on the bottom of the shower door could do with being mended and there was only one sharp knife - but these were minor issues. We had a great stay and would definitely book again

  • "I would just like to make you aware of a few things we found to be unsatisfactory during our stay at Percy cottage."

On arrival at the cottage it seems the property may have Been unused for possibly a short time as the whole house was considerably cold which took the best part of the evening and the following day to get warm. The heating upstairs was not an issue but downstairs the temperature was probably due to the vast amount of draught coming from the kitchen and porch which never got warm. The downstairs toilet was freezing. The whole place could do with a deep clean, the pots in the kitchen had to be washed before using, the cups are heavily stained and would not come clean, the oven which I have pictures of is in need of a deep clean. Wherever you touched was dusty, the paintwork especially in the living room (skirting boards) are horrendous, we didn’t use the cupboards in the kitchen due to the state of them. There was no lighting in the porch area and in the bathroom, could not change the bulb as there was nothing to stand on to reach the fitting. The service from the office was brilliant, I just feel that the place could do with a visit as you may be unaware of the cleanliness and general state of the cottage.
