  • "Lovely week spent at Beals Yard."

Good location for getting to coastal areas. Plenty of local places to eat and drink without having to drive . Owner was very welcoming and left a much appreciated welcome pack which included Presseco and a local beer. Would book again if we came back to the area.

  • "Beals Yard is ideally placed and a really comfortable accommodation for exploring the places of interest in Alnwick and the Northumbrian coast."

As a car owner I fell into a routine of parking outside the property for a maximum of two hours before 6pm when arriving back from a day out and then driving to a 24 hour free carpark before 8am the following morning. The welcome provided by Alison was really good and the few gifts in the kitchen appreciated. I strongly recommend this property.

Location good. Host very helpful with info. Small improvements would help: bathroom door squeaky and clearer info on parking disc. Very good value for money.

  • "We enjoyed our stay in Beals Yard, from the picture we didn’t expect it to be so close to the main street but it was very quiet and convenient."

Lovely cosy cottage, the welcome pack from the owner was a very nice touch. Above the usual holiday home standard.

  • "A thoroughly enjoyable week in an extremely well positioned and very comfortable cottage."

A couple of tiny improvements which could be easily accomplished ….. The cups, though attractive, are awkward to hold and to carry downstairs, particularly without a tray. A couple of mugs would be useful. Perhaps a foldable washing-up drainer would also be advantageous. These are minor points which in no way detracted from our overall enjoyment and satisfaction with Alison's cottage.

Thank you for your feedback, I will act on the issues raised. There is a tray in the kitchen as I did realise one was necessary to carry things downstairs. It is in the cupboard with the toaster, on top of the microwave. I am glad you chose Beals Yard. Alison Property Owner

  • "This was a lovely little holiday property – very well appointed and with a lot of attention to detail."

We particularly liked the fact that the rooms were spacious, and we very much appreciated the generous welcome basket. In the evenings, it was good to have a much larger than average TV to watch, complete with Netflix. We have been to Alnwick on a number of occasions, but Beals Yard is by far the best cottage we have stayed in.

  • "We enjoyed staying at Beals Yard very much and the property was clean and welcoming."

A slight problem for me in that the bed was a little too soft for my bad back. Alnwick is a good base for getting to very interesting places within a short drive. We visited Bamburgh, Cragside, Holy Island and of course Alnwick castle and gardens. For anyone visiting in the next few weeks, be aware that the area is very busy, especially with regards to eating. We tried 8 venues one evening all of which were fully booked. So my advice is to book early in your stay.

About the location

ALNWICK

Alnmouth 4 miles; Bamburgh 15 miles; Rothbury 10 miles.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.
