  • "Churchside is a beautiful house with all you could wish for."

    We stayed as a couple but would work equally well for a family, or a group of friends. It is conveniently located at one end of Alnwick and is a perfect base for exploring Alnwick and the Northumberland coast and countryside. We would definitely stay here again and heartily recommend it to anyone wishing to visit the northeast. It was easy to contact the host and Sara was very friendly and helpful. The only thing I would warn about, it is over 3 storeys, so if you have mobility problems it may not be for you.

  • "Churchside is an ideal base to explore Alnwick and Northumberland."

    Situated in the centre of the town (you can see the castle from the bedroom windows), it is spacious, clean and has everything you need for your stay. The owners also kindly left milk, biscuits and wine to greet us when we arrived - a lovely, thoughtful touch. Highly recommended.

  • "Churchside is well positioned close to the Castle, shops and restaurants."

    Parking for our second car was easy to find at Pottergate or the long-stay car park off Howling Lane. The kitchen was very well-equipped.

  • "Great location for castle and restaurants."

    Mostly clean house let down with the lack of dusting. (Kitchen blinds) first floor bathroom smells of mould.

  • "Excellent location, short walk to shops, supermarket, cafes, restaurants, pubs, and, Castle entrance; short drive to A1."

    Easy access to private parking, for 1 car, at rear of property. Well equipped kitchen. Very comfortable beds. Excellent bathrooms and showers. We personally found the sofas in the first floor living room somewhat uncomfortable (maybe worth updating?), the ones in the downstairs living room were fine. Would stay again.

  • "Very well equipped, comfortable, quiet and convenient for the town centre as well as exploring the surrounding area."

    Hulne Park was a very nice walk with no need to drive. The only tiny snag was the fridge which operated erratically no matter what settings combinations were tried.

  • "The house is very warm and cosy and spotlessly clean ."

    We spent most of our time in the snug which is very comfortable and easier to carry drinks into. It is well equipped but a few more mugs would be welcome, we were ok only 2 of us but if there were 4 or 6 we would be continually washing them. It is well situated, very close to the centre of Alnwick and the car space is a bonus. Looking forward to a return visit.

Churchside is a lovely terraced three-storey townhouse settled into the market town of Alnwick, Northumberland, close to local amenities.

Be welcomed into a homely property, where you have the choice of two pleasant sitting areas, including a ground-floor snug with double glass doors opening up onto the patio - an ideal spot for alfresco dining - and a larger first-floor sitting room where all guests can curl up on the leather sofas and catch up on their favourite TV programmes.

The kitchen/diner is amply fitted to cater to all of your culinary needs and has an airy atmosphere, as well as a dining table.

Three bedrooms, as well as a bathroom, can be found throughout this property, with a twin on the first floor, ideal for children, and a king-size with storage and seating on the second floor, as well as a king-size zip-link, which can be set up as a twin on request.

Alnwick is a fantastic area, with lots on offer for guests, beginning with the great many eateries available to you, so enjoy a meal out before enjoying a riverside walk at Hulne Park or checking out the local independent shops.

Alnwick has gardens, the fantastic bookshop café of Barter Books, and a golf club; however, it is most well known for its brilliant castle, which you can visit to learn more about the local area.

If you fancy a trip to the beach, head over to Alnmouth, where you can enjoy walks, watersports, and wild swimming at the beautiful local beach.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike; for even more excitement, the enchanted world of Lilidorei is also available at Alnwick Gardens, offering seasonal events and plenty of fun for little ones of your group. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.
