  • "Wonderful, well apponted cottage for all local amenities."

  • "This is our second stay at the property and we will probably return."

This is because it is in such a good location, ideal for walking and not having to move the car. However, I do feel, given it's price category, that I need to make a couple of points. Firstly given the property is for 4 people, and there are only 2 two seater sofas, I do feel at least some foot stools could be provided. There were 3 of us staying this time, and even then, there is no room to stretch out, relax and put your feet up after a days walking. Secondly, the toaster, I mean really, for 4 people? It's not even big enough to toast a full size slice of bread. Minor improvements I feel, at very little cost. Overall a nice cottage that would benefit from some upgrading comfort wise.

Thanks for your comments. We are staying now at Stone Cottage and have purchased a 4 slice toaster and a footstool. Property Owner

  • "This is our third visit with our dog to Stone cottage."

We love the location, it’s quiet but so near the beach and Bamburgh facilities. The cottage is clean, warm and cosy. We struggle with it being dog friendly and each time before we let Luna in have to move the two cube sidetables to bottom of the stairs so we can abide by the no dog upstairs rule! This as we are getting older is then difficult for us humans to climb over to get up/downstairs easily!! A stair gate would be useful to provide as you have open stairs from the lounge!!

  • "Lovely, comfortable and warm."

This property has everything needed in a holiday cottage.Perfectly situated for the beach and the Main Street in Bamburgh. I would just point out the broken blind on the French doors and the parking space is not fully utilised. Due to a wooden frame in front of the kitchen window, there is only room for one car parked at an angle. Removal of the frame would allow two cars to park.

  • "We couldn't have asked for a better location to stay."

The local pub was friendly and welcoming. The cottage was lovely, spacious and comfortable. We've already recommended it to friends looking to stay in this area. The only slight issue we had was that the blinds on the ground floor could do with attention to provide adequate privacy in an evening, particularly the broken one to the french door! but aside from that we had a wonderful stay and would definitely return

This blind has been replaced. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful property in a perfect location, lovely, bright and spacious."

We found the garden however, very disappointing. It is full of weeds and the furniture looks like it's never been treated or looked after - why?? The BBQ is awful and looks ready for the tip, I would definitely not use it. Such a shame as the property is so beautiful inside. We found it very strange that family photos were displayed around the place, never come across this before in a holiday rental, it felt like we were house sitting - especially when the landline rang! Overall, we had a great stay but the garden needs attention - it really lets the place down.

  • "This is our 5th stay at Stone Cottage and we really enjoy the property, however nothing has changed in those 5 years and some of the cooking utensils and cutlery now need updating."

In previous feedback I mentioned the outside area and the table and chairs need cleaning/ refurbished and the barbecue isn’t usable as it’s in poor repair and very dirty. We enjoyed our stay and I’m sure we will return in the future but would appreciate if you could take note of our feedback.

Thank you very much for your feedback. We will be staying at Stone Cottage in June and will attend to these issues. Property Owner

  • "An excellent holiday home."

Clean and bright (with heating quickly available if needed) in a peaceful area of Bamburgh yet only a few minutes walk from the village centre. Good evening eating in the village in at least 5 places. We holidayed in this property for several years and have reserved it for two weeks next year.

  • "Stone Cottage was clean and nicely furnished with comfortable beds(a big plus)."

Its situation was very good as it was just a short walk into the village, with good cafes and restaurants available. Bamburgh is a lovely place and well situated for exploring north Northumberland and all it has to offer in scenery, beaches and castles. Our gandchildren loved it and were reluctant to head home.

About the location

BAMBURGH

Seahouses 3.5 miles; Beadnell 5.1 miles; Alnwick 16.9 miles.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
