  • "Dirty floor when we entered the property No log starter pack Vacuum doesn't work properly Windows look like they've been cleaned with a dirty rag Bottom of the fridge obviously had not been cleaned in a long time covered in brown sludge, I have cleaned now."

Window sill in one of the bedrooms is covered in dead flies and dust obviously not been cleaned in quite some time. Shower, bath and toilet don't drain properly. No plugs near a mirror to do your hair. Nowhere to hang your clothes in the main bedroom. Wine chiller not plugged in or set up. Other than that it was a nice space and a great location. Other than that location is great

  • "It was our 2nd time at the cottage."

Since our last visit it looks like the cottage has had a small make over which is what it needed as it was starting to look a bit tired. The property is so spacious and bright and catered for our every need. The location to the beach is ideal with the added bonus of the landing should you wish to dine there or have a cheeky beer after a 4 mile walk. All in all a lovely relaxing time had by all and we have already booked our 3rd visit for later on in the year.! The only point we would raise (that has previously been mentioned a number of times) is the positioning of the key safe. It is far too low and like other properties on the estate could easily be mounted higher.

Would have liked a teapot. However the property is very comfortable to stay in.There is tremendous walking in all the local area.It is hard to beat.

  • "Nice property situated close to the beautiful beach at Beadnell."

Felt a little let down as listing stated logs provided for fire - no logs just paper and fire lighters. Would recommend replacing the dishwasher as known to be temperamental, had to buy rinse aid and salt for it as well which I would imagine should have been covered by housekeeping as maintenance. Reported dishwasher to agents who were happy to help and arrange engineer but we managed to get it going in the end. Also owners called to apologise re dishwasher which was a nice touch. Very nice, warm spacious property with an airy Nordic feel. Loved the mattress on the big double bed - great nights sleep. The key safe is really low down and in a bit of an awkward position could do with being moved. All in all nice place to stay

  • "Bed in main bedroom very uncomfortable."

Mattress not comfortable and no support at the edge. Mattress needs replacing . No hanging space for clothing. Main door unable to open fully. Would have been an issue for wheelchair user. Washer drawer very dirty and mouldy. Ineffective cleaning despite checklist. ( Sent photos to Sykes but not acknowledged) Overall, ideal position with ample equipment but needs general maintenance and could do with key safe being at an appropriate height.

  • "This was our 2nd stay at Bowline and it didn’t disappoint."

We had a lovely time. It’s warm, well equipped, nicely laid out and very convenient for beach access and The Landings cafe. We love staying there and can just about afford it at the winter rates. Plus it’s dog friendly which is great. I’m sure we’ll stay again. The only reason I’ve not given 100% positives is that there were a few things not perfect: the single mattresses/ziplock king are really uncomfortable, and the under sheets were filthy. The mattresses were uncomfortable last year so I was disappointed to find they had not been upgraded. You can feel the springs through them now and the edges have been completely broken down. Both my partner and I came back with stiff necks and sore backs from not sleeping well. It would benefit from a topper when not being used as singles. We chose this room to use as it’s at the back so darker/quieter. The coffee jug was broken and leaked all over the first time we used it, so we had to go and buy another one for ourselves, a small thing and someone just cleaning would not have spotted it, but annoying; The floor around/under the beds was not clean. I’m not usually picky but there was a sandy grittiness to the floor which was unpleasant. The dirt was visible under the sofa, which can be hoovered under without moving. Even my husband noticed this (when looking for lost dog chews!) and he’s the extreme opposite of picky. Maybe an end of busy summer season spring clean was needed. Having said all that, the general cleanliness was great, the kitchen/bathroom all tidy and everything we needed, and we really love being able to stack up the stove and hunker down in the late afternoon after a cold beach walk.

  • "We had an absolutely fantastic break in Beadnell - we had stayed in the area numerous times previously but this was the first at Beadnell point."

We loved the location and fact we could walk our paddle boards down to the beach each day. The house was very well equipped and a great space to enjoy our holiday. The welcoming teas, coffee, biscuits & fresh milk was a nice touch. We particularly enjoyed the open plan living and found it to be very relaxing. We would definitely love to come back again in future. Like a few other reviewers comments, the house would benefit from a little TLC including a lick of paint and some finishing touches on the skirting / flooring sorting out. None of this detracted from our stay but would just take it to the next level in future.

  • "Overall, it's a great holiday home."

The facilities are great - washing machine, dishwasher, iron and board, gas hob etc., but the house needs a little bit of TLC to bring up to the level it's capable of. Marks on the paint work, and the skirting boards and doors look a little worn. The shower, bath, and bathroom sink waste pipes are all connected together and seem to need declogged - the shower water builds up during use and the bath, sink, and shower all "gurgle" when left to drain away.

  • "Not that happy with Bowline property."

We complained last year about the position of the key security box outside, approximately 300mm from the floor, how are elderly or infermed people meant to manage! Didn’t like the very soft double bed, the corner suite is uncomfortable, grubby and a very large stain on the cushions. Cob webs hang from the lounge ceiling in two places, paint work tired. In complete need of some TLC.

  • "Great location, close to the beach and the new venue of The Landing."

Decking area to the rear, which was a lovely sun trap - a parasol would be beneficial. The property is a great size and very light/warm, however it is in need of some TLC - there is a large stain on the sofa and the bottom of the curtains has evidence of water damage. Apart from the minor points, we enjoyed our stay - although a pint of milk in the fridge on arrival would've been a nice gesture!

  • "This is a great property, filled with everything you need."

Super location near the beach and quiet. The interior could do with a little TLC. The shower is slow to drain, the kitchen tap has a constant loud drip and the sofa has a rather large stain (we did let the owner know straight away about the tap). Other than that we were very happy with our weeks holiday home. Northumberland has lots to offer and plenty to do with children. Beautiful part of the UK.

About the location

BEADNELL

Seahouses 1.5 miles; Bamburgh 5 miles.

This attractive and peaceful harbour village is situated beside one of the most beautiful stretches of Northumberland’s Heritage Coastline - Beadnell Bay. Established in Saxon times, Beadnell was once an important fishing village and a smuggler's haven. Nowadays, it is still a fishing village, but is equally popular with holidaymakers who come to enjoy its pretty harbour and, of course, the nearby sandy beaches. The village has a shop, two pubs and a café serving food. Popular Seahouses is just over a mile away and has shops, a supermarket and restaurants, and it also offers boat trips from the harbour to the magnificent Farne Islands - a haven for bird watchers. Bamburgh is close by, whilst the market town of Alnwick with its Castle and Gardens, shops, pubs and restaurants is a short drive away.
