First impressions do count and to be welcomed with the utility room acting as a temporary store room for the hoover, highchair, stair gate, clothes airer mop/ bucket and the tumble drier perched on the worktop blocking the window set the general tone for this property.

The twin bedroom lacked wardrobe space which was not ideal for a full complement of adults saying in the property. Whilst I understand both the owners and agents need to make a profit on their investment and services it was disappointing that not even a dish cloth was provided and the glassware/ cutlery sets were far from matching. The property whilst in a great location, is tired and requires investment in furnishing and repair - with bathroom shower tray being a very slow drain and the ensuite heated towel rail not working together with a broken blind in the living area. Balcony furniture compared to all the neighbours on this development is of poor quality and reflects ultimately on the tardiness of the property.

Not good to find that the wine cooler wasn't working properly, but thank you for providing an alternative.

Overall perfect location, well equipped but beds too low and too soft for us

The amenities were very good in this accommodation.

The mattresses were very comfy and we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. However, the bath plug wasn’t working and kept leaking when we tried to bath our daughter and my dad found someone else’s underwear and tissues under his bed when we were looking for one of my daughters toys she had dropped. On the surface it looked clean but some of the surfaces and floors hadn’t been cleaned for a while! Overall we love these houses as the location is so perfect. This is the fourth one we have stayed in and 3/4 haven’t been 100% clean so maybe this should be fed back to the cleaners. They aren’t the cheapest places to stay in so they should be cleaned properly for people arriving. It didn’t spoil our stay, we loved this house and it hasn’t put us off returning.

Fabulous location.

Property offers plenty of space though there were a few aspects that were a little disappointing, e.g. wine cooler didn't work, outside hose had no spray attachment which made it harder to wash dogs' paws, decking furniture was a bit basic, vacuum cleaner had no suction so not able to properly tidy up on departure. (We did leave a note for the cleaning team telling them about the wine cooler and vac.) Whereas there was plenty of crockery and lots of glasses, it was missing a variety of serving dishes and boards. We will definitely return to Bernicia Way but not sure we'd book Spindrifter again.

This property was exceptional.

As a family we could not have asked for better. The facilities were excellent the location was perfect.

We had a relaxing and enjoyable winter break at Spindrifter.

The Christmas decorations were a lovely surprise, thank you. We are regular visitors to Beadnell and this is one of our favourite houses, well equipped, comfortable and in a great location. There was one minor issue with the dishwasher but Northumbria Cottages responded promptly and resolved it within a day, great service. Would definitely recommend Spindrifter and hope to return for another visit in the future.

Our second time staying here.

It is such a lovely comfortable home. The upstairs living space is so warm and inviting . It is perfectly situated five minutes from the beach with so much to do in the area. Beadnell is a great village with two pubs, two cafes , a bar restaurant and fish n chip van. Only two points is there was no colander and the hoover had absolutely no suction and we have a dog meaning I could not leave it as clean as I would normally do. We thoroughly recommend the house and the area.

On a positive note, lovely house and fab location.

house clean and bedding / towels great with comfy beds. we had a problem on first night ( Friday ) in that a window would not shut and given that it was very windy and wet, we managed to secure it with tape and towels. I rang the out of hours numbers on more that one occasion over the weekend including the numbers for emergencies but got no answer. I emailed Sykes and again no reply. On Monday I rang again and got through - the maintenance team came out the same day and fixed the window. So my feedback is that the out of hours support could be much better - even the emergency number got no reply. It would be helpful if the itinerary specified what kind of coffee machine is provided- we could not source any of the pods and had to go buy a cafetiere! surely its reasonable to provide a cafetiere? All in all though the house is great and I would be happy to recommend.

We had a great holiday in a fantastic property, we loved the way it was set out with the living, dining and kitchen area was up stairs making the most of the fantastic views.

The property was excellent Ideal location Was comfortable and had lots of extras ie:- cleaning kit / coffee, tea and biscuits Relaxing outlook Extremely clean and lots of finishing touches to make it very homely The only problem I had was booking an extra night with Sykes cottages I was going around in circles trying to contact anyone from the company and in the end I thought it wouldn’t happen but I managed in the end to get the extra night

We had an amazing time, we stayed on the same site in June last year but in a bungalow.

So when we searched for June this year and Spindrifter was available and dog friendly we couldn't believe our luck. We love the upside down concept with the living area on the 2nd floor and the bedrooms below. Spindrifter was beautifully set out, it had lovely decor and furniture upstairs and the bedrooms were a great size with really comfortable beds.Its also really well equipped for a self catering holiday and the welcome box with biscuits, tea, coffee and milk on arrival was a really nice touch. My only little negative point would be the hoover wasn't that powerful and took us longer to hoover up, simply because we like to leave the property how we entered it, clean and tidy. Would definitely recommend and re-book. Already looked at future dates.

Beautiful place and location .

Would highly recommend this property. With its large windows and balcony was the perfect place to sit after a long walk . My only tiny criticism would be was that I would have liked a small amount of cleaning materials as I like to clean up during my week but appreciate many wouldn’t be thinking that on holiday .

This is our fourth holiday at Beadnell.

We love the house and location as we have two Labrador dogs who love the beach. The house was very well equipped and spacious which we need with five adults and our new grandaughter. We hope to book again soon. Thankyou. Graham.

If possible Please would you check with the cleaning crew whether a gents brown shoe was left behind?

Wi-Fi connection was slow on the TV and Wi-Fi speed was also slow.

Loved the property and hope to return again in the future, additional furniture for the balcony would have been a bonus.

It was a very comfortable place to stay and very convenient for the beach.

I was impressed with how quickly a maintenance person came to fix a problem. The only thing we disliked was the fact there was no private space to sit or for our dogs to use. However, a comfortable place to spend a week in an area we love.

House was amazing, second time at this property!

Everything you needed there and more! Comfortable, clean, plenty of car parking, dog friendly and only a few minutes walk to the beautiful dog friendly beach, what else can you ask for! Only 2 little niggles, shower in main bathroom slow and the 2 bedrooms could do with bigger mirrors! But these were only minor things! Loved the house, loved the Beadnell and loved the beach. Would highly recommend the house as already looking to book for next year!!

Just some honest feedback really as there is a lot going for this property however I do think anyone who books this should be aware of some of the issues we had.

The property is in a superb location just a 2 minute walk from a fantastic beach. The house is well decorated and looks as it does in the photos. All equipment worked and there were plenty of kitchen accessories and cutlery. Where the place let itself down for us was as follows. Firstly the upside down nature of the property doesn’t really add much to it as the view from the balcony only overlooks the bungalow opposite, the road around the estate and the caravan park. The house feels very ‘hollow’ and from downstairs you can hear every movement upstairs very loudly. So in terms of being child friendly if you’re putting little ones to sleep earlier downstairs it’s very noisy if people or pets are walking around upstairs. If you’re taking very young children be aware the stair gate provided isn’t fit for purpose and I hope the owner does something about this. We had to have the maintenance man out twice and on the second occasion it had collapsed on myself bruising my ankle. It simply isn’t the right size. Also as a pet friendly property you do have to bear in mind there is nowhere to let dogs out that is enclosed. I appreciate it does say that on the advert but definitely worth remembering. Final few points are that the beds are very low and soft and the curtains let huge amounts of light in, Wi-Fi is patchy downstairs in the bedrooms too. Also in terms of cleanliness we’d read a previous review about it being a little dirty in places and it was. It’s generally quite clean but all the nooks, crannies and under furniture was quite dirty in parts. I’m not trying to put a downer on this place and for the right type of party I’m sure it’s problems would be fairly insignificant but this isn’t a cheap stay and as a family of 6 with pets it had too many issues that I think people should be aware of. With a bit of attention it could be lovely but it just doesn’t quite reach the heights its price tag suggests it should.

Bathrooms need to be deep cleaned.

Water doesn't drain away in showers causing us to turn off showers while the water drained. Extractor fans need cleaning. We used the shelving in wardrobes and anything black came out dusty. Kitchen was clean but lacking in glasses. (No 4 the same) having said all that we had a fabulous break. Oh! The heating was too warm..The bills must be horrendous!

Great location 100 yards to the beach and for trips further afield to places like Alnwick, Bamburgh, and Lindisfarne. We love this area and this house was just perfect for a cosy luxurious stay.

The property is fully equipped with a spacious family area and very comfortable beds. It is located less than a minutes walk from one of the most beautiful stretches of Northumbrian Coastline, ideal for walking or watersports. It is also ideally placed as a base for exploring other Northumbrian visitor attractions.

Spindrifter is a great holiday house and in a beautiful area to enjoy.

Can highly recommend the walk to Dunstanburgh with a well earned pint at The Ship Inn at Low Newton

House is perfect, suited 3 generations of the family and the dogs.
