  • "Garden furniture could do with updating and perhaps a bbq"

    Reviewed by Janet3.4Sep 2024

  • "Bit late in response just due to hectic lifestyle!"

Extremely clean, basic, but to be fair everything that’s needed. Garden a disappointment, as “nothing” pleasant about it, so if weather had been warmer, wouldn’t have enjoyed sitting out with a glass of wine! But importantly it was fully enclosed for our dogs! Should provide recycling facilities, we are not fanatics, but for the price paid, don’t expect to have to bring recycling home, as requested!

  • "This was our second stay here."

The house is perfect for our family. Plenty of space and a second bathroom is great! The new television was a great addition amazing picture and we enjoyed the fact we could stream things. Our dogs are always happy here with the enclosed garden and close proximity to the beach. Thank you for the wind breaks in the outside shed, ours broke but we didn’t have to buy new as there were two to borrow. The only one suggestion I would have is new pillows as they are a bit flat but that’s a small thing. I think it is great value for money and we have already booked to come back next year!

  • "Location was great and beds are really comfy, the house internally is nicely decorated and we found it to be clean, however, as a bungalow we did not expect living room and dining area to be at a different level to rest of property, this should be made clear on the description."

The step down was significant and was a problem for my mother-in-law who we took with us. It was also not clear there is a large step to get into the front door. The fridge has a water pooling problem that has been noted in the visitor book but has not been dealt with, there was plenty of dvds but couldn’t find dvd player and the low maintenance garden has not been maintained at all, as weeds are now nearly as high as my knee and garden furniture requires repair.

  • "Loved our stay in this beautiful property, it was perfect for us."

Great location and super clean. The TV in the lounge could do with an upgrade though, minor thing and definitely wouldn't stop us from coming back!

Thank you for your lovely comments. New TV going in this week. Hope to see you again soon. Property Owner

  • "We had a really lovely stay at Stones Throw and the location is brilliant."

It’s a good size property with a great kitchen stocked with everything you could need and more during your stay. This is the 3rd time we have stayed in the property over the last couple of years. We did feel on our stay this time though that there are some small updates needed as it is showing signs of wear and tear. -All beds desperately need new pillows, we actually bought some from Tesco during our stay. -The headboard in the main bedroom is falling off the wall. - The outside door handle of bedroom 2 is falling off. - The cushions on the sofas smell fusty and the sofas in general could possibly do with an update. - The back yard of the property looks tired, the furniture is broken, and generally looks like it needs a bit of TLC. - The toilet flushers in both toilets are loose and the loo brushes are dirty. All in all a great place to stay just in need of a little update. Many Thanks.

  • "Quiet location, handy for Seahouses, Bamburgh, Holy Island and Alnwick."

Booked property about a month ahead at a discounted price, worked out at around £125 per night which I felt was about right. Clean with everything you need, perhaps just upgrade the tv in the lounge!

  • "Stones Throw is ideally located to the fabulous beaches in Beadnell with easy access to other areas."

The property is very clean, comfortable and cosy, it isn't large by any means but well set out with plenty of space. It easily catered for our party of 4 adults and 2 dogs, also the kitchen is well equipped. We had no need to venture out in the evenings as the facilities were so good to stay in and cook. The only fault was some of the ceiling lights in the bedrooms were a bit temperamental and to be fair, we weren't sure if this was just the bulbs. We were so impressed that before we left we actually booked to stay there for the next New Year.

  • "Nice bungalow but we thought it was the whole property when viewed from outside not half."

Radiators were a problem and tripped the electrics so we had to contact company: resolve d quickly. We couldn’t control one of the radiators in the en-suite bedroom which stayed at 7. A couple of minor points no handwash in the toilets and minimal toilet paper but apart from that nice property, would recommend General area fantastic; pubs/ beaches etc.

  • "Just spent another lovely week at Stones Throw this is our 4th time staying."

We love Beadnell and the whole area. I actually went online to book again for September next year but it’s almost £200 more expensive for the same week next year which I feel is a little steep so I’m unsure if we will be returning

There was plenty of room for our party of 5 and 2 dogs. The kitchen was well equipped. The DvD collection was very welcome as we forgot to bring any! The location is great and we enjoyed many walks and trips to the beach. We would definitely cone again.

  • "This is feedback for the owner, not the Sykes website."

We had a few problems. 1) the ensuite shower. I attempte to use once and was either at risk of freezing or being scalded.!! Plus the actual shower cubicle is badly in need of repair. Broken screws resulting in the doors not staying closed and the water flooding into the bathroom.. also the shower is in need of a thorough clean as is the non slip mat!! 2) The front door was a big problem in the extra warm weather . expansion made closure extremely difficult. we literally had to forcibly slam the door to close the door each time we used it, which can be doing neither the door or the surrounding framework any good. 3) The hoover. When we attempted to use it the dirty stale smell was extremely off putting. You ask us to leave the house as we find it, but do not leave usable equipment to do so. 4) I had to descale and clean the kettle but it really needs renewed. Despite the foregoing we enjoyed our holiday, mainly due to the beautiful weather, and the peace and quiet .

  • "We found the cottage very clean and nicely decorated."

Comfy sofas and beds and a good shower. However, the kitchen is technically a corridor from the rest of the house to the living room which means there is not a lot of space. The bedrooms also had very little room and the en-suite was tiny. We found Beadnell a great base - good shop, pub and beaches.

About the location

BEADNELL

Seahouses 1.5 miles; Bamburgh 5 miles.

This attractive and peaceful harbour village is situated beside one of the most beautiful stretches of Northumberland’s Heritage Coastline - Beadnell Bay. Established in Saxon times, Beadnell was once an important fishing village and a smuggler's haven. Nowadays, it is still a fishing village, but is equally popular with holidaymakers who come to enjoy its pretty harbour and, of course, the nearby sandy beaches. The village has a shop, two pubs and a café serving food. Popular Seahouses is just over a mile away and has shops, a supermarket and restaurants, and it also offers boat trips from the harbour to the magnificent Farne Islands - a haven for bird watchers. Bamburgh is close by, whilst the market town of Alnwick with its Castle and Gardens, shops, pubs and restaurants is a short drive away.
