  • "We had a great time at the cottage."

There were four of us and a dog and felt like we had plenty of space. Good location to get to both beach walks and walks inland. Nice welcome pack provided and cottage was clean and warm on arrival. We would definitely like to stay at the cottage again in the future.

  • "A lovely week in railway cottages everything was lovely."

Location was good loved seeing the trains pass by hence why it’s called railway cottage it’s a busy line but it didn’t bother us at all . Cottage was spotless and owners dealt with a heating issue straight away . Will definitely be back

  • "House was nice & clean & warm when we arrived, but confusing as to where the parking was."

We went out & came back later no heating on tried to turn on as per guidance but it would not work. Got a text the next morning asking if we arrived ok & said the cleaner had said about a problem with the heating had been reported by previous guest.. we contacted the owner later as the heating was still not working, was given some instructions but they did not work, was told they would try & look into it heard nothing else. Still no heating on following day. Decided to come home early house too cold. Messaged owner that we had left & heating needed looking at properly. House well furnished just a pity about the heating problem.

  • "The cottage as a place to stay should have been perfect!"

The cottage was very nice even though we had some issues with the heating which David the owner helped with and resolved it between us. There was two issues both of which were location related, the main issue was the very close proximity of the northeast main train line which is very busy and very noisy, until past 11pm and woke us all up far too early in the morning. The other issue was that it was close to an industrial estate with very large grain silo’s. As I have already stated the cottage was lovely but just a shame about the two issues above. As far as I can see these issues should have been highlighted by Sykes before we booked this cottage

Hi Simon, Sorry to hear about your issues. So that it is not misunderstood by potential future customers, the grain silos are a fair distance away and are not viewable from the cottage. All the cottages are surrounded by open countryside. With regards to the railway line, the cottages are advertised as station cottages. My advice for future customers is to use Google maps to establish whether these issues are problematic. Property Owner

  • "Just returned from our second stay at the cottage."

Had a problem with the kettle not working properly but a quick text to the owner and a new one was delivered the next morning. The cottage location is great for visiting all the sights etc would highly recommend staying here. The owners have thought of everything you might need a nice welcome pack for us and the dogs, blankets for the dogs. Nice garden with plenty of seating, which is enclosed and safe for the dogs with open fields at the back, off street parking for your car. The trains run all day but didn’t bother us. Will be back again soon!

  • "We throughly enjoyed our stay at 9 Station Cottage."

Inside was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We were blessed with excellent weather and made the most of the rear garden. It is perfectly situated for visiting the surrounding area. There is noise from the passing trains, but this never disturbed us at night. All in all definitely one to book again.

Very clean and nicely furnished. Well placed for places to go and see. Although near the train line it really wasn’t an issue and I quite liked them. Would stay there again

  • "The cottage was lovely."

Tastefully decorated and well equipped. Well enclosed back garden. It was lovely to have welcoming gifts including cake, wine, milk and bread on arrival as the first thing I always want after driving a long way is a cuppa! We met the owner on arrival as he was working next door and as the weather had turned a bit cold he turned the heating up for us, on an App I think. Good job because I'm a bit rubbish at other's heating controls and couldn't work it out in the boiler cupboard. We just turned the radiators off manually at night. The railway line wasn't a problem for any of us, having been brought up next to one, in fact it was quite interesting, especially on the Sunday when there was a steam train. The only little issue I had was before we went I couldn't find mention of a washing machine and emailed Sykes to ask if there was one and the reply was as it wasn't listed or mentioned there wasn't one. When we got there, having taken extra clothing on this understanding I found there was. But maybe Sykes could have contacted the owner before they said there wasn't one? No matter, we had a great time, we felt at home and would definitely book this cottage in the future. Oh must say, the beds and pillows were very comfortable. Some cottages charge extra for dogs but I've found they don't make it clear how many they allow or the charge for a dog/dogs before you book. No extra charge here. So I would recommend: clean, modern, warm and comfortable. Thank you.

  • "We have stayed in cottages on numerous occasions and always had gripes with facilities, cleanliness etc However this has changed with Station Cottage."

It was simply perfect. Spotlessly clean, beautifully presented, comfortable, everything we needed for a fantastic few days. Yes there is a main line train track next to the property but we loved watching the trains fly past. The location - one minute off the A1 is perfect for getting around this beautiful part of the world. The key when I review anything is would we go back. Simply we would go back tomorrow without a second thought. Karen the owner was attentive when we needed information and guidance. We can’t wait to come back and thank you for letting us stay at your beautiful property

  • "The cottage is beautifully decorated and location to the sights is perfect the only thing that might let it down is it’s proximity to the very busy train line and there is no mention of this in the details if you are a light sleeper you might want to take some ear plugs as the trains run from 5am (fortunately we aren’t) we would stay here again without hesitation."

The owner has thought of everything we might’ve needed and then some

  • "Just want to note the light fitting over the bed in the middle room is broken."

Also one of the kitchen stools is wobbly and potentially dangerous. Neither were significant issues for us but don't want to get the blame and the stool is an H&S concern. Otherwise all good. Trains quite loud but it was cold so kept the windows closed. Very clean, well equipped and great location.

  • "An amazing stay and have already recommended!"

The cottage was true to the listing and very dog friendly most place say dog friendly but do not allow the dog on the furniture where as here they did with the furniture covered, he settled so well with been allowed to sit with us. The dog section in the kitchen was a lovely touch and I loved all the blankets scattered around the cottage. The welcome gifts for the humans was a lovely touch also. The enclosed garden was a lovely size and the garden furniture was perfect
