  • "On arrival the accommodation had a smell coming up from the separation bathroom, so bad it was making us feel sick."

We ended up putting disinfectant down all drains and keeping the fan on. As discussed the hot tub hadn't been cleaned on arrival. We were highly disappointed with this, especially as we have stayed at other accommodation and understand they should be emptied and refilled for all new occupants, which this hadn't. The accommodation was OK, think it needs some TLC. Feel gutted as I have never given poor feedback before.

  • "We had a pleasant stay at 43 Burnside Lodge."

It was very well equipped, and comfortable, and the location of the park itself was ideal for all area's we were interested in for our week long walking holiday. I dislike having to give any negative feedback but feel I have to mention our disappointment on the cleanliness of the lodge. Although the towels/ bedding, worktops, and bathrooms were clean(apart from the grouting on tiles in the en-suite), the lodge had a fusty smell on our arrival, and looking at the cushions on the sofas, they could do with washing. The skirting boards were really dirty throuout the lodge and there were children's handprints on most of the windows(we didn't have children there). We also had to wash most the cutlery before using them. To me,these things should be checked and cleaned where necessary. The hot tub was a great addition, and we used it most evenings, and we really appreciated the prosecco and chocolates left by the owner. But,unfortunately,we probably wouldn't book again.

Hot tub was used every day by daughter. Good to see it checked regularly for chlorine level. Quiet site with no problems. Plenty of attractions to see nearby.

  • "The lodge was lovely inside very clean and cosy, it had all the amenities you need and the beds were super comfy."

The hot tub was fab and daily maintened but not very private but we stood the lid up to resolve that. The gifts left were a lovely touch. The play park was perfect for kids. The only little snags we had was the toilet seats in both bathrooms were a little wobbly, the showers were dismal and the smell of sewerage from the drains was not pleasant. But overall it was a perfectly situated base to explore Northumberland.

  • "Dust, hair, everything you touched was sticking to your hands: table, chairs, dishes, dirty shower tiles, clogged sink in the bathroom, in the second bathroom there was hair between the glass and the bath, most of them require deep cleaning, everything is only cleaned superficially, after when I entered the bedroom, I found garbage between the bed and the cabinet, the hot tub was very limited because only one level worked, the water was not the cleanest, someone checked the water every day and only added chlorine."

.. comfortable beds and fresh bedding, fresh towels, very good gas stove, we did not use the washing machine or dishwasher. Due to the cleanliness of this house, our rating was significantly lower, as well as the feeling that we overpaid for this stay

  • "We enjoyed our stay but there was a couple of things we were unhappy about."

    1. The smell outside next to our lodge. We had a green box and 4 drain holes? They stank really bad. Just a bit too close to it. 2. We found used sanitary towels in the bathroom bin. 3. The mat at the patio door was very slippy when you came in from outside. Our elderly mum slipped on it. 4. The cutlery. Because it had rounded handles and knives were blunt were very hard to use. 5. The metal pans. The handles got extremely hot when cooking. Apart from these we were very pleased with our stay. There was plenty to travel about to see. We went to Alnwick Castle, Bamburgh Castle. Would highly recommend a visit to these and to the site.

  • "We had a lovely stay, sofas were well comfy, overall the lodge was nicely done out."

The only thing letting it down was oven could have done with a clean and the roasting tins could do with replacing. Also the welcome booklet was falling apart, both issues could be rectified at very little cost. This is the second time we have used Sykes, this lodge was better than the one in Devon. Will definitely consider using Sykes again next year.

The bottle of fizz and shortbread were lovely touches too. Wi-Fi and TV were easy to use. The hot tube was clean and easy to use and we enjoyed relaxing in it. Location wise it was just off the A1 and eat to get to Morpeth and Bamburgh and Seahouses. We would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting the area.

Very clean, a really lovely size and Heather was very helpful with communication beforehand. The lodge itself is situated in a great location next to the river and close to the playground so perfect for our family stay. The kids absolutely loved the hot tub and it was checked and cleaned every day. The lodge provided towels, hairdryer, games in the cupboard which came in very handy on a rainy day and lots of cleaning products. The bottle of Prosecco was a lovely touch and appreciated. The holiday park is quiet and in a really handy location for exploring. All in all, we loved it and would definitely return in the future. Thanks Heather.

After quickly unpacking it was straight into the hot tub to unwind. The lodge is ideally placed on the site and a little more secluded as you face the stream at the seating area and hot tub at the back.it was lovely to sit on a night and listen to the birds chirping away. Decking and fencing all round so we could let the dog out without her running off. The site was a lot bigger than we first thought we were just past the small bar / food outlet with outdoor seating and small playground and to the side of that were some steps which took you to a small lake. It was within reach to all of the beautiful beaches our favourite being Cresswell which was only 20 mins away. we later found the cutlery drawer was dirty with food elements so cleaned out aswell. We reported this and had a prompt response from Heather with a beautiful hamper and a sincere apology. In regard to the hot tub we found that even though reported in an earlier review a jet in the hot tub still did not work and the water had black bits in it. • "The property is beautiful, feels very luxurious and comfortable."

Beds are comfy and it's spacious. Hot tub was easy to work and thoroughly enjoyable with the stream running right past. Sadly there were a few negatives: - the place was filthy. It looked as though it hadn't been cleaned at all. Plates and bowls were displayed nicely on the dining table but I had to wash them all before use due to finger prints and dust. The bedroom was disgusting. Dust EVERYWHERE, even on bedside table and easy to reach areas. Around and behind the bed was horrific with some sweets on the floor and I found a massive man sized, bronze pyramid ring (hard to miss!). - All the window guards were broken away (usually these are in place to open and close as the person sees fit, but were completely removed). This made the place extremely cold but also bug infested. I'd hate to stay during summer and winter months when creepy crawlies are out and about. There were spiders and webs at every window except the door opening to the hot tub. These could really do with being repaired as not only would I not stay again due to bugs, but the cold air was constant. The sealant around the windows were also in desperate need of repair! Other than those 2 negatives, the place is very beautiful and I'd love to stay again if the window situation was repaired and the cleaning standards were raised. The place is easy to find and very peaceful. So I really loved my stay. Not much nearby, so take your own food etc.
