  • "Little Haven was perfectly located and equipped for a lovely stay."

We felt at home straight away. It was a nice surprise to find a secure garden for our dog to explore safely. It was only a few minutes drive or 20 min walk from to Bamburgh that has great pubs, a butchers and Pantry store. The beach is great for long walks overlooked by the castle. Lord Crewe pub was our favourite and the Potted lobster restaurant for seafood lovers. The copper kettle cafe has delicious cakes ! Seahouses is worth visiting where there are regular boats trips to the Farne islands. Barter Books in Alnwick , Cragside (NT) and Floor’s Castle were lovely trips out. The Barn at Beal and Carnaby’s are both lovely for coffee or lunch. We’ve had a lovely time and will definitely be back

Pleased you could pack so much in and enjoyed your time at Little Haven. Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback, it will be helpful to many looking for recommendations in the future. Would be thrilled to welcome you all back again. Best wishes and thanks again, Caroline Property Owner

  • "We would highly recommend Little Haven, the name says it all."

The property is delightful, spacious yet cosy and we loved it as did our dogs. Bamburgh is close by with the castle, a super butcher and the cakes from The Copper Kettle are delicious. We can also vouch for the seafood platter from The Potted Lobster. Yum! It is easy to venture further afield from the cottage, both walking and driving.Alnwick, Lindisfarne, Craster, Dunstanburgh, Embleton etc. etc. There is so much to see and do in beautiful Northumberland and Little Haven is the perfect base from which to do it.

Thrilled you all enjoyed your stay at Little Haven and got to experience the highlights of Northumberland. Very grateful for the lovely review and positive feedback as we start out - thank you for taking the time. With best wishes, Caroline Property Owner

  • "We had a fantastic week at Little Haven!"

We have two large dogs, black lab and golden retriever and this property was absolutely perfect. We've taken them on several holidays previously and this is the first one where the outside space was totally secure and we could sit and relax without worrying where they were. The cottage was extremely comfortable and had everything we needed! Location was also fantastic, the village pub was about a 40min steady walk and the beach about 15min further on, lots of places to walk and sit, we had a great week. We will definitely be returning, thank you!!!

This is all great to hear, thank you for taking the time to tell us about your time at Little Haven. Very happy to welcome you, and big dogs, back in the future. Property Owner

We loved the luxurious bed sheets and super-comfy bed, the lovely bathroom and the roomy, double aspect living area. The location was fantastic for access to Bamburgh and Seahouses. All in all a fantastic stay in a great property, thank you to Caroline who was so helpful and welcoming.

So pleased you had such a nice time at the house and got to enjoy the area at its best. Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. Property Owner

  • "A wonderful cottage and a really comfortable home from home."

It is fresh, bright and beautifully done, we loved it! There is everything you need plus some nice additions including a welcome pack and a map on the wall showing the local beaches and castles. The owners are great and very helpful. Our dog loved mooching in the secure (important for us), well kept garden. It's rural and quiet but only 5 minutes drive from Bamburgh and you can see the castle from the house. I definitely recommend this cottage and we are looking at dates to book it for our Northumberland trip next year!

Thrilled to hear you enjoyed your stay and all Northumberland had to offer. Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. Look forward to welcoming you all back in the future. Property Owner

Quiet rural location. Close to all of the local attractions. The Beach at Bamburgh is one of the best in the UK and it was just down the road.

  • "What a great cottage this is to stay in."

It has a lovely cosy feeling about it and the facilities inside are excellent. On arrival we were greeted with a welcome pack which helped set the tone for an excellent week’s stay. The kitchen appears to be fairly new and has everything you could need if you want to eat in. The bathroom is very nice too as are the bedrooms. Outside there is an enclosed, private garden with a grassed area and a patio/seating part too. The front is a shared courtyard. The location is approximately a 5-minute drive from Bamburgh which makes it an excellent location for the beach, the castle, the restaurants and the ‘must try’ ice-cream! If you prefer to go off the beaten track the cottage is situated on one of the back roads so its perfect for exploring some of rural Northumberland and keeping away from the crowds. We would definitely recommend this cottage for all the reasons above but also for the excellent communication from the owner and the fact that she permits dogs to bring their owners to stay too.

Much appreciate you taking the time to leave this review as we embark on this new adventure. Thrilled you got to explore Northumberland at its best and hope Lottie lets you come back again! Best wishes and thank you. Property Owner

The property

Little Haven is a charming holiday cottage located in the quaint coastal village of Bamburgh in Northumberland.

Situated right beside Northumberland Coast AONB, this property is perfect for families and groups who want the best of scenic hiking trails and stunning coastlines.

Step into a beautifully-decorated, open-plan living space with a roaring woodburning stove for you to snuggle up by during colder months with a marshmallow-topped hot chocolate as you watch your favourite Christmas movies, a well-equipped kitchen to show off your cooking skills and a dining table for the whole family to enjoy meals around.

When the weather is warmer, open up the patio doors and head out to the rear garden with ample lawn space for the children and dog to play and run around and a seating area where you'll enjoy an ice-cold drink as you watch them.

In the morning, wake up early and make yourself a cup of steaming tea or coffee, then climb up to the side garden to watch the sunrise over the vast field.

Curl up in the small nook on the landing and dive into a book from the small library, and when sleep calls, unwind with a hot bath or shower and slide under the soft linens.

Head out to the local village of Bamburgh and enjoy a delightful meal at The Lord Crewe Bamburgh pub, offering views of Bamburgh Castle, savour some local seafood dishes at The Potted Lobster with outdoor seating for those who'd prefer some alfresco dining, then when its sunny, make your way to Bamburgh Beach and lounge on the sand or paddle in the water.

Drive to Holy Island, a pint-sized gem with a wealth of eateries and places to see like Lindisfarne Castle, a 16th-century crag-top fortress, Gertrude Jekyll Garden blossoming with beautifully-vibrant blooms, Pilgrims Coffee House & Roastery with its fragrant teas and coffees and decadent desserts, and The Ship Inn Holy Island serving classic British dishes.

Come down to the market town of Alnwick and visit Alnwick Castle, one of the UK's largest inhabited castles, and Potterheads see if you can spot where some scenes from Harry Potter where filmed, catch a show at the stunningly-ornate The Alnwick Playhouse and take the children on a magical adventure to Lilidorei at The Alnwick Garden, a mystical village with live actors boasting the world's largest play structure!

Bring your family year after year to Little Haven.

About the location

BAMBURGH

Seahouses 3.5 miles; Beadnell 5.1 miles; Alnwick 16.9 miles.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
