Beds were comfortable cooking facilities very good. Shower on the small side. Some of the reviews we read about the property was a bit over the top.

Thank you so much for this feedback. Since you have stayed we have redecorated and renewed some furnishing. We hope to welcome you back. Property Owner

  • "The Little Boathouse is quaint charming and quirky."

Overall it has everything you need. However, despite enquiring previous to our visit and being told it would be taken care of, my wife ended up with a bad back due to the state of the mattress. We reported the washing machine as not working and it still wasn't when we left. I don't know how long it had been that way but there was old soap powder in the drawer! Storage space is a problem if you like to do a weekly shop or take a lot of clothes that need hanging and parking is not an easy task not helped by nearby construction work, which might be a temporary thing. It's a shame really because it is a nice property, in a very good location and overall we enjoyed our stay. The bed mattress was the worst thing and perhaps some further suggestions/ info on parking arrangements would help.(I was asked not to park in a couple of areas. Don't really know why as I would find other cars parked in where I had moved from and it wasn't marked up for resident parking only!

  • "Seahouses was lovely ,weather was great and people friendly plus lots of dogs so the 2 stars are for that really."

Good base for lots of places . At first glance property looked okay as only 2 of us however went down hill. First issue was couldn’t find any towels ,managed to get hold of owner who told us to look in the hall cupboard under all the bedding so was on my hands and knees looking for towels and found a couple.Didn’t mind this too much . However would have expected a call the day after to provide towels or to check etc. Fridge is tiny . Found that fridge had been turned to full so all our items had frozen including eggs and bacon do had to throw away several items. Day after when started to cook found the cooking utensils disgusting and marked and felt unable to use so purchased our own wooden spoons from hardware shop up the road. Then used the grill which was covered with foil , assumed this was done to minimise dirt so sadly used the foil covered grill then after removed to wash and replace foil and found to my horror a very greasy and dirty grill that looked like not cleaned for months. Went to use the microwave for porridge but last occupant must have had a curry in it as stunk and despite trying to wipe down several times couldn’t use. Bathroom It is like a caravan, tiny sink virtually unusable and gap underneath look unsightly and grubby. Shower a strange cubicle on only small gap to get in even though plenty of room in bathroom. Shower head send out water hard so hurt your skin, the hose was dirty and rusty and needed cleaning or replacing and the pole not attached so came loose at each shower. No shelf near sink for items only top of toilet so not hygienic. Later on in week went to use the washer not working tried to contact owner they said it should be working. Tried again told owner not working and they said see what I can do. No further contact received so we’re unable to wash. In flat there is a door that leads to garage where the flat above park and this is where the washer and drier is. Not sure how safe this is re fumes or fires and think it should be a fire with something to block out this risk. There is a sign up asking the other flat not to run the engine of the car as the fumes go into the boathouse which is worrying. The smoke alarm looked ancient and looks like it needs replacing. Be aware that the front door is glass so cannot walk out of the shower unless the door curtain is closed. The front door does not seem very sturdy and would have worried if alone. There we’re probably more issues but cannot remember . The property needs a major overhaul facilities ,pots and cutlery replacing , all shower and sink replacing and a hood clean. General point be careful on roads as very uneven. Limited Wi-Fi and signal but this is to be expected. Lots of pubs doing food. Co op along the road has most things.

  • "Definitely bijou, but very clean."

Personally for me I felt it was a little dark but there was plenty of lighting. Perfect position for the town of Seahouses. Access to both Prime and netflix was a bonus.

  • "It's a fabulous location and the description of the property is accurate i."

    E. "charming bijoux studio cottage" for two adults. However, as much as we loved the location and the charm of the property, we weren't able to get one good night's sleep. In our opinion, both mattresses need replacing because they were so uncomfortable eg. one felt as if you were laid in a hollow and the other, lopsided as if you could fall out. In addition, you can hear the noise from the neighbours and their dog in the apartment above "the little boathouse". Their footsteps, opening drawers, etc. Not their fault just inadequate insulation. Otherwise, we could have coped with the limited size of the property but after a lovely long walk along the beach each day, you need a good night's sleep. First visit to Seahouses and will come back but sadly, not to this property even though it was such good value.

  • "We had a lovely week at this very compact little cottage."

It is on the ground floor and other people occupy upstairs. There is everything you could need for a couple.Pots pans dishes glasses microwave cooker, full size cooker, fridge freezer tea towels shower towels and a washer and dryer inside the garage (entrance from hallway of cottage) An iron and board. Please note this garage is for the upstairs occupiers to put their car, you cannot park outside the property but can park about 100 yards away with no problem. Complimentary wine ,biscuits and pint of milk was a very nice welcome touch. We don't drink so did bring the wine home for a family member! There is WiFi connection so come evening we had no problem watching our Netflix etc. Lovely fresh cotton bedding plus extra blankets. On the owners to do list I would have to suggest maybe the mattresses need replacing though as you could feel the springs sticking in you.Luckily it was hot all week so from our second night we slept on top of the duvet. A clothing rail is provided in the hallway which we made full use of. A fan would have been appreciated. A new iron as that one leaked the water straight out.A decent ironing board cover. The windows need cleaning between rentals. I did place the ironing board against the front door each evening as it has about 9 small glass panels and only a turn to lock inside which I didn't feel was secure enough.I just thought if anyone should try and get in then the ironing board would crash down and make us aware. I am sure any noise complaints about upstairs occupiers are uncalled for as they must be able to hear people in the cottage as well. The cottage is only a few steps to the harbour with seating areas which was lovely. The area is pretty and peaceful. You are a short walk to the supermarket.Plenty of pubs if you drink. I have no complaints about the cottage, it is a lovely place to stay and anything that sounds negative are only suggestions. We would stay here again in the future.

  • "My husband has used Sykes many times in the past and has always found them to be excellent."

The little boat house was a throughly disappointing experience. On arrival it was very hard to find and also had no where to park . It was even smaller than the photos showed , to say it was tired was an understatement. The bedroom , the bed touched three walls and I touched two of them . The clothes rail just about stood up but only when leaning against the wall. The riser for the shower head kept coming away from the wall and the shower head had a mind of its on. After making ourselves a drink we tried the t.v./ internet . NO luck wrong information left. Which resulted in many failed attempts causing distress and upset . After many phone calls we were finally furnished with the right information but that was well in excess of 24 hours.the reply being not very helpful I’m out of area etc. no reception etc.I the kitchen was very tired and most things that came of our cupboards had to be washed as they still had lip marks on them. The cutlery tray was very dirty . The kitchen floor was uneven and curl up at the sink area. The sofa was an absolute disgrace resulting in our early departure ( on the Wednesday ) as our backs and bottoms could take no more. I phoned to explain we were leaving early and why and was told yes we knew about the sofa a couple of weeks ago. This is a blatant lie as previous reviews remarked on it as early as February. As far as we are concerned it was a wasted journey and not worth our hard earned money.

  • "Conveniently situated, but not cosy or comfortable."

A small property which hasn't been thought through as regards convenience or comfort of living. Sofa is uncomfortable, to say the least. There is no sound protection between the flat and upstairs which means you can hear EVERY noise, including the toilet. I would suggest that the owners take a packed suitcase and stay as guests to appreciate the inconvenience of the furniture provided. There is no useable storage, but plenty of shelves full of ornaments! Would definitely return to Seahouses, but stay elsewhere.

We appreciate the feedback and are sorry that your stay was not to your expectations. The owners have stayed at the property and have not had any issues with noise. Although we have had another comment on this so can only assume that there were unusually noisy guests when you and the other guest who commented stayed as it has not been highlighted as an issue in the past. We have taken on board your comment about the sofa and will be looking to replace this. Obviously due to the compact nature of the property this does cause some restriction to what we can source. • "Nice property but not a restful stay due to the dancing herd of elephants above us."

Noise until very late at night and in the middle of our sleep. Could even hear them using the toilet as the ceiling was so thin. This was contrary to misleading information in the Sykes spec that stated that the cottage was single story. Never mentioned that there was a larger accommodation above! Also the seating was poor with a couch from hell that we had to endure for 7 days. Bad backs all around. Reviews to follow. Not happy!!!

We appreciate your comments and have taken note of your comment about the sofa and will be sourcing a replacement. Apologies for the noisy guests upstairs. We have spoken to NCCC about this. Property Owner
