  • "Absolutely amazing."

Lovely clean and comfortable cottage and friendly people. Loved it.

  • "Pauline and Tony are lovely, the cottage has everything you need for a break away, the garden is full of birds, rabbits and we also saw a hare."

Good base for all the tourist sites and the coast. Alnwick is a 10 minute drive away and has lots of shops and cafes (small market on Saturday + M&S Foodhall, Sainsbury’s etc) the castle and gardens are well worth seeing. Bamburgh and Holy Island well signposted from the A1 north. The Northumberland Arms in Felton is good for Sunday lunch but booking is essential.

  • "Great to arrive after a long journey, to be met by the friendly owners and a welcome package."

Lovely quiet cottage in great surroundings for us to explore with our bicycles and motorcycle. Not far from the lovely sandy beaches and Amble facilities. Will try to return.

  • "Overall a lovely stay at Swallow Cottage hosted by a great friendly couple, a well tended garden with many wildlife visitors, the welcome pack and flowers were a nice touch and greatly appreciated."

Plenty to do in the area both on the coast and inland too. We missed WiFi facilities, although we appreciate it wasn’t available at SC as per the advert description, the bed was a little uncomfortable for me but again it’s hard to accommodate everyone’s desires. There was evidence of plumbing so the reinstallation of a basic washing machine would be fabulous especially as we travel with minimum clothing and washing by hand isn’t ideal, there was an ironing board etc available. We would have no hesitation in recommending Swallow Cottage and hope to return in the future. Thanks P&T for making us welcome.

The River Coquet meanders past the village, with a picturesque view from Guyzance Bridge. There is a limited bus and train service to Alnwick, Newcastle and Alnmouth, and the whole of the coast is within easy driving distance. Warkworth, 4 miles away, is a pretty village, dominated by the dramatic ruins of its 12th Century castle. The main street is lined with Georgian and early Victorian houses and there is an exceptional range of galleries and antique shops, a village shop-cum-post office, pubs, restaurants and gift shops to suit all tastes. Warkworth has its own stretch of sandy beach and a 9-hole 'pay and play' golf course. Also within easy touring distance are Hadrian's Wall, Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island, the Farne Islands, several wonderful beaches and Alnwick Garden with its remarkable water cascade.
