The cottage was clean, comfortable and light, and had everything we needed. No issues with the on road parking. Local pubs were good.
A great place to see the area from. We walked, cycled and drove the moors.
Wonderful views and history.

"Wayside is a delightful cottage in a small idyllic community."
For a solo traveller or couple wanting to walk and explore the region, it is perfect. Everything is thought-out well in the cottage, and (with luck) you can park 6 feet from the front door. There is no store in Edmundbyers, so do come prepared. But the Derwent Arms is a terrific Pub and the BAA is a great small diner as well.
Thank you so much for your review, and I’m really pleased you enjoyed your stay at Wayside, it was great to meet you and enjoy the rest of your travels! Jenna..

A good place to stay with lots of places to visit and lovely walks close by, also there’s a good pub - the Baa Bar for pizzas and a chat with the locals.

"Could do with a set of sharper knives if intending to do much cooking!"
Thank you for your feedback on your stay at Wayside Cottage. The knives are actually very new, only purchased last year, 2021, and there is also a knife sharpener in the utensil drawer. As a very keen cook, having a good set of kitchen knives are an absolute necessity.

"What a lovely cottage."
Spacious, cosy, warm, relaxing, all possible needs met. It was just lovely to eat our breakfast and the occasional evening meal at the table in the bay window within sight of the greenery and flowers. A small table and 2 chairs at the front of the cottage bathed in sunshine was a lovely unexpected extra.
A smashing place to stay. 6 organic eggs left for us were delicious scrambled.

"We were met by Jenna who provided us with lovely homemade scones and fresh eggs from her hens."
Wayside Cottage is immaculate and full of .character in a perfect situation a stones throw from two excellent pubs - the Derwent Arms for excellent food and the Baa for a chat with the friendly locals. The furnishings in the cottage were of excellent quality and if its peace and quiet you are looking for beside a log burning stove in the evening you can't go wrong. Our mobile wifi worked perfectly but we had to walk a few yards uphill for a phone signal. Jemma has gone out of her way to ensure that the cottage will provide the perfect break.

"Lovely cottage, in a small village."
Pub opposite has great food and very friendly staff.
Weather was better than was predicted so managed to do lots of walking and my husband went running nearly every morning over the moors.
Would highly recommend this cottage as it’s a brilliant size for two people, there is no WiFi but that did not bother us as we were out so much. Just one thing the cottage could do with is a new mattress, I struggle with my back and shoulder and just could not get comfortable so did not sleep to well.
We will definitely be back next year, still so much to see and do in the area.

"We loved our stay in Wayside Cottage."
The large bed and bedroom were really comfortable and corner bath well used for relaxation after long dog walks. Everything we needed to cook was there and the log burner also helped us to have a chilled stay. The cottage is situated in a peaceful spot, within easy location to Derwent Reservoir with its many paths so walking our dog Charlie was easy. Really handy was a one minute walk to the pub where our Sunday lunch was good with staff welcoming.
The owners were very welcoming and friendly with some kind extra touches such as fresh eggs! Advice was given about local walks, places of interest and eateries.
We would highly recommend Wayside and stay again! The owners other B & B accommodation also looked appealing.

"Only issue was no Wi Fi."
This did not give us any problems as the weather was excellent and we where not in the cottage in the day.. However if the weather forecast had been accurate ??? we would have maybe been in doors more.. This would not put us off rebooking however some couples might expect Wi Fi included in this day and age. The cottage was a delight and the pub which is 50 yds away was warm and friendly and served good food. Accommodation was clean and for couple the size of the cottage was more than adequate.. the bed was also a good size and conformable .

"This is a beautiful cottage in a lovely quiet little village with walking practically from the doorstep and just round the corner from the village pub."
It has everything you need and Jenna left milk, biscuits and fresh eggs from her hens which were very welcome.
The cottage is even better than the pictures, very roomy for two and the bedroom is huge with an en suite and dressing room .
Pow Hill Country Park, just a short walk up the road is well worth a visit.
The only thing that was disappointing was the lack of a village shop, nearest is 5 miles away, but Blanchland, where the nearest shop is, has a lovely tea room, well worth a visit if you're popping up the road for milk.

"This cottage was perfect for our stay in this beautiful part of the country."
It was a really cosy, warm cottage with all amenities we needed and lots of homely touches. We particularly liked the wood burner to return to after being out all day exploring the area. Being sited between the N Pennines and Northumberland National Park we didn’t have to travel too far to visit tremendous historic sites and beautiful walks, enjoying the Autumnal colours.
There were two pubs within 2 minutes walk, one with great food available and the other a real local ‘Baa’ with friendly locals.
All in all our experience couldn’t have been any better, this was the best cottage we have rented for the two of us and our dog.
