  • "Great place to stay."

Very quite , good beaches close by.

  • "Really lovely cottages in a beautiful part of the country."

Loved the pool and the traffic free walk to the beach

  • "The mattress in the main bedroom wasn't very good, the worst we have seen and despite the luxury tag there was no welcome pack and the essentials were a minimum."

The TV was tiny and it was annoying that we didn't use the hot tub (as requested by owners) for cleaning but it wasn't cleaned till the next day so we could have enjoyed the last night in our hot tub. The pool booking idea was lovely and the cottage itself was fantastic.

  • "We loved the stay and the facilities for children were really fantastic but there were a couple of small things we felt could be improved."

The curtains were very thin causing the kids to wake up very early- black out blinds would be a great improvement. Also we found the quilts very thick for summer and would have liked some thinner sheets or blankets to be available. Also I think description of the walk to the beach was a little misleading as it was about 40 minutes with children and a little too far for them

  • "Location was brilliant with views from the cottage to the sea and it was so quiet and peaceful."

It was very clean , spacious and had all the facilities and cooking utensils required for our stay. We used the hot tub all the time and the wood burning fire was great. One very minor suggestion is that the sofas are uncomfortable and need replacing.

  • "Had an amazing time at North Farm, the facilities were brilliant, the location stunning, couldn't recommended it highly enough."

Only tiny niggle was that the sofa cushions kept coming off, which was more annoying than it sounds, but couldn't fault anything else.

    The beds were uncomfortable.

  • "Absolutely Superb."

Views were excellent. Animals (Lambs) kept us in laughter with their antics. Will certainly go back again.

  • "Excellent booking service."

The cottage is very well equipped and in a stunning location. Easy walk to the beach and castle. The cottage, swimming pool and changing rooms are immaculately clean The only downside to this cottage is that there is a chicken shed outside the twin bedroom and the Cockerels crow constantly from dawn, (not what you want on holiday!).

  • "Great stay again."

..now the 3rd visit, however, as we have commented on before when asked, there is no welcome pack of any description. No flowers, no bread , no milk no sign of anything to "welcome" us to the property. We have had catering/hospitality experience and gave all the above plus a small decanter of Sherry in each room, chocolates, cakes etc! And charged a fraction of the price you do. Please please do something to make our stay more "welcoming" next time

  • "Simple to use low deposits and good communication."

Also a wide range of properties. Can't fault them.

  • "The ten minute walk to the beach was a little on the optimistic side unless you are Usain Bolt."

Other than that an excellent property in a superb location.

  • "Overall a very lovely, clean and comfortable cottage with a stunning location and gorgeous sea views."

The only slight issue we had is that there was no outside table and chairs. We had a bench which sat two people at a pinch and a child's size picnic bench. We had expected patio furniture to enable us to sit and eat outside and this would have made the cottage perfect for us. Having said that, this did not affect our fantastic stay in this beautiful cottage and we would return again.

  • "Bank Top is in a wonderful position and the North Farm Cottages complex is excellent."

I would not hesitate in recommending it to anyone. The cottage was excellent, view superb with a lovely 20 minute walk across the fields to the beach and all brimming with wildlife. We had Brown Hares right up to the front door late evening and early morning, and saw Fox and Roe Deer. The birds - Skylarks, Yellowhammers , Swallows, Wagtails, and Reed Buntings around Newton Pond were in abundance, as well as Eider ducks with their ducklings, on the sea. The Farne Islands is an amazing experience , though I was concerned about the effect that the number of visitors was having on the site and the birds; some were abusing the Arctic Terns just to get photographs, which was not right. This was our first visit to Northumberland and we loved it. Embleton is a very convenient centre, with a garage/small shop and petrol at a comparable price, Post Office/small shop and several places for a meal , including the Dunstanburgh Hotel which was very good. Spectacular scenery, friendly people, hardly any traffic, beautiful empty beaches, coastal walks second to none, and all litter-free - a rare treat !! What more could you want ?! A beautiful and unspoilt part of the countryside.

About the location

EMBLETON

Craster 3 miles; Beadnell 4 miles; Alnwick 7 miles.

The pretty village of Embleton is ideally placed for exploring one of the most attractive stretches of Northumberland's Heritage Coastline. A beautiful grassy path runs from the village to neighbouring Craster, alongside the sea and past Dunstanburgh Castle - the largest ruined castle in Northumberland. Embleton itself has a village pub and a local hotel, and there is an excellent range of amenities in nearby Alnwick. The gardens at nearby Howick Hall are open during the summer and are noted for their beauty, whilst Alnwick Castle and Garden are a 'must-see' when visiting the area. For the keen golfer, Dunstanburgh Links Course is about 1 mile away - just one of several excellent courses in the vicinity.
