  • "Super cottage in a great location."

Extremely clean & tidy on arrival.

  • "Very enjoyable stay in an ideal cottage."

Only problem was the weather which no-one can do anything about! Hope to return in the future.

  • "We were very comfortable in Wayside Cottage and would recommend it to anyone."

It was clean, comfortable with easy parking and an enclosed garden for our dog which gave us peace of mind. It's very convenient for the pub in High Newton and The Ship in Low Newton. The Golf Club House at Embleton also did good food after a lovely coastal and inland walk. Lovely walks from the doorstep - Craster in one direction and Beadnell in the other. Hope to return sometime.

  • "A lovely cottage just a few minutes walk from outstanding beaches."

Spotlessly clean on arrival and a super garden that our dogs really enjoyed exploring. Would definitely stay here again.

There is a nice enclosed garden with the cottage, again just needs a little tlc. High newton is a wonderful base for exploring the area and wayside cottage is ideal and i would happily stay here again.

  • "Wayside cottage, was an ideal location to all surrounding beaches, walks and other villages within the vicinity - we did miss a local shop for basic requirements and ended up going to Seahouses to do a basic shop."

We had a slight issue with basic cleanliness on some of the glasses and crockery, but otherwise a very, comfortable, warm and cosy cottage - I'm sure we will be visiting and staying in this area again, in the not too distant future.....beautiful part of the country

  • "Lovely short break."

Wayside cottage was a little dated in places ( which we were aware of by the photos) but it was a clean warm cosy retreat. Lovely walks on the doorstep. Would return.

  • "Wayside is in a beautiful area ( one of our favourite places) and benefits from the great location, good sized rooms and an enclosed garden."

The decor is a bit dated and compared to other properties we have stayed in in the area was missing a few basics eg hairdryer, oven gloves, spare rubbish bags etc These were minor inconveniences and we still had a lovely time there

  • "This is the second time we have stayed in Wayside and it didn't disappoint."

Location is 5* and the cottage itself is just honest and lovely. Yes, it's dated but it is clean, comfortable and cosy (even though its spacious). Perfect when you have 2 children and a dog. The garden is magical for the children and really well maintained. The Ship, Football Hole, Beadnell Beach, Low Newton (with its amazing view of Dunstanburgh Castle) are all in easy walking distance. Everything else is an easy drive. The only thing it lacks is a tumble dryer but who wants to do washing on holiday anyway

  • "Yes please."

...... 1 …The hot water tap was scolding hot my grand-daughters. There should be warnings. 2 No slip mats in the showers or bath. 3 Toilet seat in en-suite was dirty and wobbly 4 Duvets in bunk-beds were uncomfortable for the children as they appeared to be for winter rather than summer. 5 The shower in the double bedroom was not working when we arrived. Good points. The garden was a delight. Wonderful beach just a short walk away. We enjoyed our stay but unless changes are made we would not stay there again.Mrs Linda Richardson.

Large enclosed garden very useful with dog, also good for barbecue or just sitting. Joiners Arms virtually next door, beach at Football Hole about 15 minutes walk, beach and Ship Inn at Low Newton about 20 mins walk. Nothing to criticise at all.

  • "The cottage was ideally situated for us."

A relatively short walk from the beach and the nature reserve and located approximately half way between Seahouses and Alnwick. The cottage is very well equipped with all the facilities we needed. We found the beds comfortable and the bathroom facilities good. We loved the garden and all the bird life in it. The Joiner's Arms is almost next door and provides excellent take away fish and chips. This was our second visit to the cottage this year.
