  • "Situated in a beautiful peaceful spot."

The cottage was comfortable, clean and welcoming. A credit to the owners.

Very well furnished and a comfortable stay.

  • "Cottage was clean and tidy."

Ideal for us. Secure parking. A quick walk from the cottage to town alone a footpath. A 10 minute walk to the centre.

  • "Worst thing was the building site next door, obviously noisy and dusty."

Please tell me before I choose to book or not! Very tired fixtures (broken oven was sorted during our stay and a temporary one supplied). Poorly equipped kitchen, no decent knives etc. Stained sofa “swallows” the sitter. Stained mattress cover revealed when I stripped the bed before departure. No hooks in bathroom nor a mirror larger than a shaving mirror on the whole ground floor. Small expenditure on interior and disclosure of the building site required.

  • "We were delighted with the cottage and would recommend it to friends."

Only small point was it was further out of town than we thought as we couldn't always walk down the footpath at night but that is minor but just think it is worth mentioning that it takes a half hour walk walking the other way. Delighted with the cottage in every aspect and such comfortable beds too with lovely views.

  • "We found the cottage clean and comfortable."

The only slight problem we had, was that there was not enough washing up liquid supplied, especially as all washing up had to be done by hand.

  • "A lovely cottage with good quality furnishings."

A full length mirror in the main bedroom would be useful as would a better one in the bathroom ( my husband had to sit on a chair to shave.) Very peaceful and relaxing setting. 5pm access is rather late when you have had a long journey. The cleaners were on the doorstep at 9.30 and as we had left it spotless, it wouldn't have taken them long to change the beds and vacuum through etc. A lovely stay, would recommend.

  • "I had issues with the cleanliness, heating and other facilities."

They were sort of resolved but I wouldn't stay here again.

  • "A comfortable, tidy and cosy cottage in a good location, convenient for the local birding sites which was the reason for my stay."

Shame about the encroaching housing development. Things which could be improved include the provision of essential cleaning products, more kitchen knives (there was only one small knife and a bread knife to be found) and some simple instructions for operating the water and heating system (rather than the rather too comprehensive boiler manual.) Other than that, I enjoyed my stay which was enhanced by excellent weather.

About the location

AMBLE

Warkworth 1 mile; Alnmouth 4 miles.

The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst picturesque Warkworth with its castle, charming Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, and the National Trust’s Wallington Hall and Cragside are all within easy reach.
