  • "This is a wonderful cottage, located in a quiet area of Northumberland with access to many beautiful places close by."

The cottage is a dream: clean, wonderfully decorated and maintained and one of the most well stocked holiday homes I have ever visited. We are regular visitors to holiday homes around the world and rarely return to a property as the world is a big place, but we will definitely be back to Compass Cottage to explore even more of the area. A big thank you to Paul and Claire for the regular contact on things to occupy the grandchildren in inclement weather and also for the extremely thoughtful gift bag , it was so unexpected, but very much appreciated , we aim to return soon !!!

Well equipped for self catering. Comfy beds, great shower. Nothing additional needed for a few days away. If returned to the area would look to book again.

  • "Fabulous cottage in a great location - we loved our stay here and would highly recommend it to others."

It’s beautifully furnished and literally has everything you could possibly need. The communication from the owners was perfect - available but not intrusive. Great info email received from them before our stay, and they texted whilst we were there just to check everything was okay for us. They also very kindly left us a gorgeous welcome pack. It was October when we visited and the cottage was really cosy and warm. Fabulous shower and amazingly comfy bed. Secure garden with tall fences which was perfect for us - our dog is a Weimaraner and can easily jump over low fences if the fancy takes him. We would definitely stay here again.

Carron thanks, we appreciate your lovely comments, we are so glad you enjoyed the cottage facilities especially the wood burning stove on the chilly nights after your days out Property Owner

  • "We have just returned from our stay at Compass Cottage in Wooler."

On opening the door at the cottage we were met with a delightful fragrance, which continued throughout. The cottage was immaculate, with every care taken for comfort, including beautiful matching crockery and bedding and soft furnishings. I also personally loved the quirkly little touches to nature and animals that were everywhere. The log fire, comfortable sofas, soft beds and hugh efficient shower were brilliant. Having Cooper our lab with us, we found the outdoor space, and particularly the acces to the field at the back of the property, very useful. All together we all thoughly enjoyed our little break. It was a home from home. Paul contacted us prior to arrival and was curteous and helpful and available if we needed him. I cannot recommend this delightful little cottage highly enough.

Everything we needed was provided and was like new, and the beds and sofas were very comfortable. The communication from the owners was great and the welcome pack they left was really generous and thoughtful. We all felt so welcome, including our dog. Access from the garden directly onto the common was really helpful for walking the dog too. The area was great for walks and access the lovely countryside and coast. Wooler is a nice small town and we had a lovely meal at a Milan Italian restaurant which is only a few minutes walk away. So many pubs and shops in the area were welcoming of our dog. We had a great stay and would definitely recommend to anyone, especially if holidaying with a four legged friend!

Fantastic location. Ideal for exploring the area. We fell in love with Alnwick, 15 minutes along the road. Parking is spot on at the cottage. And your neighbours were so kind and friendly. From the first communication from the owners to the get you in pack all through to the time you leave. This place wants for nothing and is peaceful, it has a great ambiance and the log burner is the icing on the cake. The bed was so comfortable and gave a very restful night sleep like sleeping on clouds. • "Compass cottage is a lovely, exceptionally clean, well appointed home in a quiet location."

There is everything you need; a lovely bathroom with two shower heads, comfortable beds, dining room, well equipped kitchen and a comfortable lounge with a good TV with apps. There is a wood burning stove in the lounge although we didn't use it during our stay. The garden is very dog friendly, stones (no mud) and secure. There is a rear gate onto a field for walks and many other walks from the doorstep (details of some are in the cottage). Other well thought out highlights are the outside tap with short hose for rinsing dog paws or wellies before leaving them on the welly stand. The rear garden (and hose) can be accessed from the front via a side gate (no mud through the cottage). We met Paul (our host) on arrival, he is very friendly, explained everything we needed to know and had left us a welcome pack including treats for our dog, Bella. Paul also made sure we were alright during our stay by text, he even rang to say there was no rush to leave by normal check out time due to cleaning being slightly later. This is a fantastic cottage with great hosts, ideal for a quiet getaway or exploring the nearby north east coastline (Berwick-upon-Tweed, Seahouses, Alnwick, Bamburgh etc.). Wooler is a historic little town with pubs, co-op, newsagents, antique shops, butchers, dog friendly cafe and more. It is an ideal place to base for a Northumberland break and Compass Cottage is perfect for your stay.

Victoria it was lovely to meet you and Rob, thanks for your lovely feedback, so glad you enjoyed the cottage, the local area and amazing coastline here in Northumberland - Thanks for the kind words, Paul & Claire Property Owner
