  • "Everything was excellent, the sea view, the sofa and chair, the bed, the shower."

The owner called me with all the details and advised places to visit etc. close to shop for groceries and newspapers. 3 minute walk to bus stop, 11 minute ride into South Shields. Highly recommend.

  • "Perfect stay, the view looking at the sea as you walk in is breathtaking!"

There was a lovely welcome pack, milk, wine, biscuits and crisps. The cottage was comfortable, easy parking at the rear, beds super comfy. Lovely little outdoor space to front and rear to sit and enjoy the view. It was spotlessly clean, and the owner super friendly, text us during our stay to make sure all was ok. Lots of local info provided, with recommendations for days out and good places to eat. It won’t be our last stay for sure.

  • "An ideal spot for walks along the cliff paths to some beautiful beaches."

We did find getting in and out of the estate a bit tricky until we got our bearings, went up a few dead ends ,all part of the fun.Had everything we needed. The local pub looks very rough but the locals were nice and welcoming and friendly.

  • "A true sea view and well sorted house made a perfect stay for our first trip to this area."

Spotlessly clean, and well equipped ... perhaps expected these days but a spritzer in the rear garden 'sun trap' and its attractively designed front garden raises it a step above the usual. Easy access to cliffs and beaches, to Sunderland for the National Glass Centre and Metro for exploring over the river makes it a great base. For fish lovers, scallops purchased from Latimers were very poor quality, Fish Quay in Tynemouth did not disappoint.

  • "Comfort and convenience for dog walking was excellent."

The welcome pack was a lovely touch when we arrived. On opening the door, the sea view was stunning and stayed with us throughout the holiday. Main bedroom has the same view so it was lovely to wake up to that beautiful view. Inside, the decor sets the holiday mood, bright colours and lovely seascape pictures. Feels like a home, rather than a holiday rental. Everything you could want in the kitchen, and private garden to the front and back. Also the private parking helped a lot, as we had travelled from Scotland. Lovely host, Jenny. So helpful with places to eat and transport to both South Shields and Sunderland. Also, just along the coast is a fantastic beach at Seaburn, which has a Morrisons and great eating places. Great holiday all round

Sunderland 7.7 miles; Newcastle-upon-Tyne 11.9 miles.

Sitting at the mouth of the River Tyne, a few miles downstream from Newcastle upon Tyne, is the coastal town of South Shields. Historically part of County Durham, South Shields, which had long been a shipbuilding centre, was taken over by heavy industries like coal mining and glassmaking in the 19th century. Today, it has become a thriving seaside town with a fabulous Blue Flag beach, attracting holidaymakers and visitors alike. The town is home to many attractions, including the South Shields Museum where visitors can delve into the history of the area, the Ocean Beach Pleasure Park, ideal for a family day out and the iconic Souter Lighthouse, where you can climb the 76 steps to the top for spectacular views. There are also plenty of scenic walking opportunities along the coastline over spectacular and cliffs and rocky bays, along with two fantastic parks, the South Marine and North Marine Park, which are perfect for an afternoon stroll. The centre of Newcastle can be reached in half an hour’s drive, where you can explore bustling high streets with a plethora of shops and eateries, uncover centuries of history and heritage and cross over the seven iconic bridges.
