  • "This is a lovely cottage in a beautiful setting."

It is in an ideal position for exploring the many charms of Northumberland and is very quiet and peaceful for those restful evenings and days in the garden. Highly recommended.

Thank you for your feedback, It is a shame that the weather was not better for you as the sun in the evenings is directly into the garden. Property Owner

  • "We had a fantastic week at The Coach House."

The house is really well appointed and equipped. We are a family of six plus a dog and we were really comfortable, with plenty of space for us all. The property was spotlessly clean on our arrival and the generous welcome pack was very much appreciated. Lowick was ideally located for the coast and the Cheviot Hills, with many of the local attractions being only a few minutes drive . We would fully recommend The Coach House.

Close to lots of good places to visit. It was warm and cosy and the beds were comfortable. The owners left a welcome pack which was much appreciated and logs for the fire. The downstairs bedroom was perfect for my elderly parents and has an en-suite. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. Overall, a lovely place to stay.

Ideal for two old folk and an equally old dog. The property had a good secure garden for our dog and the welcome pack was most welcome! The Coach House is really at the heart of Northumbria with some fabulous beaches recommended by the owner. We will definitely book again, next time with our children and grandchildren. Well done The Coach House!

  • "We were a group of 4 adults and 2 children and we had a wonderful stay in the coach house."

It was perfect for us and Russell was excellent at communicating with us. They live next door and assured us that if we needed anything, to pop round and tell them. We stayed the week of storms Dudley and Eunice! But the coach house stayed lovely and warm with the wood burner being a real focal point in the lovely double height sitting area. There was always loads of hot water for piping hot baths and showers which we really appreciated after a day out and about. The pub across the road ( The Black Bull inn) is wonderful with fab food. To sum everything up….. the coach house is in a beautiful part of England, and has everything you need for a holiday. The owners left a very well stocked welcome pack full of locally sourced products and there was a big bunch of daffodils to welcome us too. We would love to return one day!

Thank you so much for your review and we are delighted that you had an enjoyable stay even if the weather wasn't kind to you. Property Owner

  • "Warm, cozy converted coach house with super comfy bed!"

Very well appointed property but with a nice traditional feel about it. Although we had some quite chilly nights we did not need to use the wood burner as the central heating kept the property lovely and warm. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch and much appreciated on arrival. The only small disappointment for me were the sofas in the main lounge just weren't the type that you could comfortably relax in at the end of the day, which detracted a little from what was otherwise a charming cosy property. Would definitely return to the coach house though, and would recommend as a great base for anybody wishing to visit this wonderful area. Thanks for a great stay

  • "We were very pleased with the Coach House which was very well fitted out with all the facilities and equipment that one could expect of a good sized rental property."

There were a very few snags with equipment, for example the knives were totally blunt, and the house facilities, the boiler was running on a different time zone (!), but nothing that we couldn't live with very easily. We really enjoyed our week's stay and left with much sadness. The village is delightfully quiet with modest traffic (loudest things were the blackbird and song thrushes at dawn!), a handy shop, great pub just across the road, lots of footpaths within a couple minutes walk or drive, good recycling and was very close to lots of famous Northumberland attractions: all in all a great house and location. We'll be back!

  • "The accommodation had both pros and cons."

The pros. The beds were all very comfortable. The downstairs en-suite shower was spacious and powerful. The location was very handy for the local pubs and village shop. The kitchen was adequately provisioned and the welcome pack was very good and appreciated. The provision of wood for the wood burner was generous. The cons. The place did not do justice to its photographs. It was in truth rather shabby and tired. The place was in need of decorating. The curtains and blinds were quite scruffy and difficult to operate. A lot of the light bulbs had failed throughout the property. The cooker hob light and extractor fan were not working. The sink was badly discoloured and the worktops and kitchen unit fronts stained. For some reason the property had a lot of flies and the window sills had a lot of dead ones. On our first night the central heating boiler, WiFi router and a number of power sockets failed because of an electrical problem. This was sorted out by the owner who, although on holiday himself, got someone round quickly to sort out. The other issue with the electrics was a constant hum from the main ceiling light in the living room that was very off putting. Because the standard lamp in the living room also didn’t work the only light in the evening was from the spotlight in the kitchen and some very dull wall lights. The outside parking was adequate for 2 vehicles at a push but no way for the three advertised. Finally, we could find very few or any instructions regarding any of the appliances or white goods. For the money paid the property would have been worth it if it’s standard was as it appears in the photographs on your website and the issues outlined hadn’t been present. As it was we were disappointed and unlikely to rebook this particular property. This is a property in need of some TLC after which it would be excellent.

It is within easy driving distance of Berwick, Bamburgh, Lindisfarne and the Farne Islands. The three- bedroom house is spacious and comfortable with a big sitting room and well-appointed kitchen. It’s a joy to be able to get back to the Coach House after a winter day’s sightseeing, walking or birdwatching and wind down with dinner at the family-sized dining table and then to relax in front of the wood burning stove. Everything was in situ to make our stay comfortable, even down to a super cot cover for my granddaughter. There were plenty of logs for the evenings and our welcome pack was one of the best I’ve come across. We’re looking forward to returning to Northumbria very soon and the Coach House will be high on the list of places to stay.

As before, we thoroughly enjoyed it. The cottage is very welcoming and comfortable and the 'goodies' on arrival were much appreciated. We had a couple of minor issues as we lost wi-fi for a few days and the 'phone did not work but these did not affect our lovely relaxed stay. The owners from next door were very friendly and helpful. What is also nice about the cottage is that it is in a friendly village with two good pubs and a nice friendly shop. The cottage could probably do with a bigger screen television but not a major issue. We look forward to returning.

  • "Cottage was very nice and welcome pack was one of the best we have encountered."

The owner was very nice. What was very important to us at time of booking was a peaceful location and secluded garden to enjoy. Following an earlier review from one of your customers about undisclosed building works going on Sykes sent an email warning that there were some building works going on and to contact them if I had concerns. I did have concerns about any building works and was considering cancelling the booking. I contacted Sykes and they said they would find out more about what the building works were and they would get back to me. They didn't !. I therefore contacted them and they said they had checked with the owner and that the building works were minimal and down the road. On arrival at the property we found that a large house was being built right next to the cottage boundary with extensive scaffolding and works being carried out at the gable end overlooking the cottages garden which meant the builders could look straight down into the garden of the cottage with no privacy. The builders commenced work at 8 am during the weekdays with associated machinery noise. It was far from the peaceful holiday we had been seeking and most disappointed as we felt as we had been misled and we would have certainly have cancelled the booking if we had known how near the building work was to the cottage and lack of privacy.

Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry that the building work caused more disruption than expected. I can see that you were given the opportunity to cancel prior to your stay and we did tell you all we knew at the time when we spoke to you. As we then did not hear from you until 2 days after your stay, we were unable to help during your stay. I am glad that you still enjoyed your stay otherwise and am sorry for any inconvenience caused. • "The holiday cottage has a lovely big garden perfect for the dog to exercise and is situated in a quiet village with a few local good pubs."

It is pretty central to many attractions we travelled on average 30 minutes to get to places we wanted to visit. The cottage itself is a nice cottage but is a little dated and although the bed linen and bathrooms were clean the general cleanliness was a little poor, e.g. rugs and sofas etc need a good clean. Also the cleaner was outside waiting for us to leave even though we hadn't exceeded our time limit and we thought this was a little unnecessary. We've been going on holiday two to three times a year for 5 years with Sykes and have been generally really happy with the cottages we've stayed in but we will not be recommending or returning to this one.

Many thanks for your feedback. We have tried to contact you without success to discuss your comments. The feedback on this property is always of a very high standard and therefore we are keen to discuss your comments with you. Property Owner

Even the 'reception pack' that was on the dining-table when we arrived was the best we have ever had. We met the owner, Russell Want, on a number of occasions as he lives next door and was very helpful. One criticism we have is the poor WiFi coverage throughout the property. It was excellent if you were close to the fireplace in the living-room, but it was virtually non-existent anywhere else. We tried to find the router out of curiosity, but were not successful. We suspect the WiFi signal was coming from next door, but cannot be sure. In today's obsession with smart phones and iPads, we think they must be able to get WiFi coverage anywhere within the property.
