10 Customer Reviews

  • "We enjoyed the stay at Pippin Cottage."

The main gripe was, as has been mentioned in several previous reviews, the smell from the cesspit. It was intermittent, but it prevented us from sitting outside. We thought the price was on the high side too, but in spite of all of this we had a great time.

  • "Beautiful cottage, clean and comfortable in a lovely village and next to a very good pub."

The furniture was good quality and the beds extremely comfortable. We were impressed by the immaculately clean rooms and the thoughtful welcome box. The downside was the smell coming from the cesspit next to the cottage. On our second day it was so bad we couldn't open the windows. My elderly mother wanted to go home bit decided to percevere with it. We couldn't sit out in the lovely garden on nice days because although not constant, the smell was on and off all the time and you could taste it. We would loved to have used the wonderful bbq facility but couldn't face doing our food in that smell. It was a real shame because it did put a dampener on our holiday with my elderly parents, 81 and 86 years old. Plus this was the most that we have spent on a cottage over past few years. My mother couldn't sleep very well because she couldn't have the window open. I note from previous comments on trip advisor that the owners have been told about this problem before which makes it even more disappointing because nothing seems to have been done. I dread to think how bad it was in the heat. Like I said, the cottage was amazing, clean and comfortable but please please please do something about the awful smell. I do hope that they contact me with how they are going to resolve the issue

  • "Pippin cottage is situated in a beautiful location."

As soon as we entered the cottage we noticed a terrible stench. It was overpowering. This was definitely not a countryside smell. Because the smell was intermittent we kept the cottage windows closed. At the second attempt of sitting in the lovely garden we gave up because of the smell. We could actually taste it. I was really concerned if this could affect our health so we left a day early. During our stay we spoke to 5 members of staff. The Head of Maintenance said the septic tank a few metres away was burping causing the smell. I had an email from the manager on the 11 August. She will be looking into it and get back to me.

  • "Great cottage very well presented and had lots going for it and sray again."

A couple of small items that for me would make it 5*. Slight wiff from the drains sometimes Bed mattress a little hard could do with a topper. Main TV should be a smart TV to allow Netflix etc to watch. Lastly, frying pans need replacing worn out. So not big and a little picky but it's not cheap so there you are.

  • "Fridge was not working on arrival and broke with a loud bang in middle of night - we sent an email and it was replaced next day (Sunday) - excellent service - thank you."

All kitchen apparatus looked 'tired' but worked/was serviceable. Lots of scuff marks on paintwork in hallway. Bath and showers looked old, scratched and in need of updating. Place was very clean - thank you. Outside inc gardens maintained to excellent standard and the property was very attractive.
