  • "The accommodation was lovely."

Very comfortable. Would definitely recommend. Appreciated the goodies provided by the owners.....thank you. A slight criticism. We were a bit confused about the bin collection and recyclement facilities as it was bin day when we left. The information provided suggested that they would be collected very early, but they weren't, so we couldn't take the empty bins back. We had to leave them out to comply with the time that we had to vacate the property. Also, we took glass items home with us as there was no facility for them. We had a lovely stay and I put an entry in the guest book stating that the property was a credit to the owners. We would definitely go there again.

  • "What a fabulous house!"

Very comfortable, beautifully furnished and extremely clean. The garden was fantastic and with the Castle backdrop was stunning to sit in the autumn sunshine. No private parking but there was plenty of on street parking available.

A truly wonderful property in a picturesque village , the cottage caters for your every need One very small moan - maybe a couple of new mattresses wouldn’t go a miss but this wouldn’t stop us from booking again - which we will do

  • "No cleaning materials on arrival."

Housekeeping had omitted to leave any bin bags or dishwasher tablets (no cleaning box). No spare toilet rolls in either bathroom. It took numerous phone calls (3) to get any positive response to resolving issue. We arrived Friday pm no cleaning box or spare toilet rolls until Monday pm. Kitchen floor had standing water on arrival, not mopped-up by housekeeping (dangerous). Dishwasher had broken parts lying in the dishwasher on arrival. For a property which costs over £1000 to rent for a week this was an unacceptable standard, Customer service response from Sykes was poor. Called immediately on Friday pm and the response of housekeeping do not work weekends so you will have to wait until MOnday, when they have not prepared the property for occupation on the Friday, is simply not good enough. I doubt we will book with Sykes / Northumbria-Cottages again based on this experience unless we have no other option.

  • "Lovely cottage and great location."

Have visited the area many times and this cottage was perfect for a family of 4. Warkworth is a lovely village with good pubs, cafes and restaurants. Close to great beaches ( especially Warkworth & Alnmouth). Property was clean and comfy however it would benefit from a deep clean and a bit of a spruce up in areas, which is expected with a property of this age.

  • "Beautiful house in a great location."

Perfect for a family holiday. Everything we needed, fully equipped kitchen. Garden is lovely and great for sunny play days. There are some great pubs in the village. Beaches are safe, clean and perfect for walking or family day trip. Bathrooms are luxurious and everything was very clean on arrival. One small issue we had was that the plug on the main family bathroom bath is eroding so you couldn't keep the tub filled. Didn't bother us as the shower is great. Will definitely be booking another break away at this please. We loved it!

Really pleased you had such a good time in Book House. We will look into the bath plug. Property Owner

We absolutely loved the house and the garden was a great bonus especially for our border terrier Although there was no designated parking we had no trouble finding a space close by which was also really handy Never visited Northumberland before but we will definitely be coming back and this was a great place to stay for exploring the area

  • "We booked this property as we are 2 couples and the cottage was advertised as having 2 TVs so we thought this would be conveniant if somone wanted to watch somthing different."

We then found there was no second TV? the interior was first class but the garden was very neglected in parts this was a disapointment.

Excellent property and wonderful location , the village of Warkworth is fantastic , great beaches nearby Parking bit of an issue but doesn’t detract from the overall property Fan in large bathroom “ rattles “ when windy A current 2024 recycling chart wouldn’t go amiss Would definitely stay there again

The house is lovely and clean, kitchen is really well equipped with a large range cooker - perfect for Christmas dinner. The fire in the tv room is lovely and makes it a really cosy room. We would definitely stay again.

  • "A lovely comfortable house in a nice location with an added bonus of a lovely garden to sit out in."

The kitchen was very well equipped but I felt it was let down, a bit, by the "generic" welcome pack from Out of Eden. A pint of milk in the fridge, some Northumbrian tea/coffee and a packet of local biscuits would be much nicer. Can definitely recommend the Mason Arms for a pint and some good "pub grub" and the obligatory visit to Spurrelis in Amble for ice-cream :) Also discovered, this time, was the Drift Cafe in Cresswell and Brewis Beer in Amble (which does nice street food at the weekend) Been coming to Northumberland for 10 years now but this was our first visit to Warkworth and we will definitely be back.

  • "This is a fabulous place to stay."

The location is excellent and the house is well-equipped with plenty of space. I would thoroughly recommend Westhill House. This next bit is for the owners of the property only - not to be published: Areas for improvement: Please have new photos taken. These date from at least 2016 and the house is not as represented in the photos, for eg the single room is bland compared to the photo, the sitting room is a sofa down, the chairs in the dining room are different and there is no TV in the dining room (we did appreciate the extra seating). The new carpet is great but the two double rooms need the doors adjusting as the carpet thickness means that you can’t shut the door - no privacy! The lock on the main bathroom is hard to use, I would worry about a child getting stuck, it needs adjusting. Instructions for the heating stuck on the wall by the dial would be helpful. Not huge things but all points visitors notice!
