  • "Absolutely nothing negative to say about The Chevy."

Spotlessly clean, well equipped, comfortable and great location for walking into Seahouses and the beach and surrounding areas. Garden not enclosed but a nice private sitting out area at the side of the house. Wasn't an issue for my dog as she doesn't wander but may be a problem for other dog owners. Would definitely stay again.

Very well located an easy walk from shops and harbour. Only criticism is that the bathroom in the ground floor bedroom was a bit tight for a person with limited mobility. An excellent kitchen diner. A great base for both coast and heritage.

Chevy is among the best ones. Lovely, clean and warm house with an easy access to town as well as to the villages around Seahouses. We felt very welcomed with the cake, honey and wine. The Chevy is very well equipped apart from a tiny, tiny little thing. We would have liked to have a milk jug. The info books were impressive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. • "Unfortunately I did not fully enjoy my stay at The Chevy."

I booked this house mainly for the downstairs bedroom and facilities. I found the bed hard and uncomfortable and the shower room far too small. The bed also seemed very high! The loud clock in the kitchen didn't make for a very restful night, either. While the house was otherwise clean generally, when I wiped spillage from my dogs water dish from the kitchen floor the paper towel came away very dirty. This was on the day we arrived so I would have expected the floor to have been more thoroughly cleaned. Overall, most of the rooms were much smaller than they were made to look on the website. The very low ceiling in the large upstairs bedroom was particularly bad and necessitated crawling over the bed or ducking quite significantly. It's also not made clear by Sykes that the garden is not enclosed, which is not ideal for the dog, particularly right next to a busy road. When we arrived there was dog poo on the gravel. I think Sykes should also mention on their website that the road is very busy with almost constant traffic and there is a primary school almost opposite the house. On the plus side, the furnishings and decor were of good quality, and the sofas were comfortable. The welcome pack was nicely put together and the cottage is generally well equipped. The provision of a TV magazine was a thoughtful touch.

We are sorry you were unable to fully enjoy our much loved and very popular holiday home. We clean and maintain the property to the highest standards and try to think of everything we can to make our guests stay with us the very best it can be. Our aim is always to make The Chevy as comfortable as possible and our many satisfied customers are testimony to this. The photos and information on the website reflect The Chevy accurately and we feel it is not misrepresented in any way. We are disappointed that you chose not to contact us as soon as you found issues with the kitchen floor and the gravel outside on your arrival day. These matters could have been sorted out immediately if you had. The Chevy is throughly cleaned and the garden and outside area meticulousley checked at each changeover and we do not leave the site until we are completely satisfied everything is in order. It has been commented many times that the house is in a quiet location on a residential street, a short walk from the centre of Seahouses and is ideally situated. We try to make everyones stay at The Chevy a home from home experience and a comfortable base to explore our wonderful county; we are sad you felt you couldn't do that. Property Owner

We have stayed in many self catering places over the years and this has got to be the best. Attention to detail makes such a difference. There is nothing to pick fault with (except the British weather) Thanks for the wine, cake etc. Nice touch, would definitely recommend to friends holidaying in Northumberland

  • "We have had a lovely stay in in this beautiful house."

We have loved coming to Northumberland for years and this is the best accommodation we've had. Thank you for the honey, tea and biscuits. The cake was delicious and didn't last long! Neither did the wine, lovely. Hopefully it won't be long before we're back. Would definitely recommend "the Chevy" to family and friends. Thank you.

  • "Very good accommodation at a high standard with all the faculties you need."

Location is spot on as you can walk to all key shops and activities within 5-10 minutes. Great having 3 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms as we have two teens (boy and girl) the only minor point would be to have a ‘fenced in’ garden for our dog(there is now back garden but one at the side and the front) otherwise we would stay here again

Spacious, quiet, nice strolling distance from Seahouses. Well appointed and everything provided for a perfect stay. The cake, wine and honey an added surprise - thank you. Note to owner - heated towel rail in main bathroom not working!

Thank you for your lovely review. The Chevy is a new build property and therefore there are no switches allowed in bathrooms or en-suites. The switch for that towel rail is on the opposite side of the wall in the bedroom and is marked as such. On testing we found the rail to work perfectly. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay at The Chevy."

It's in the newer part of Seahouses, so it's a modern house, not a traditional cottage. But what it lacks in character, it makes up for in warmth and practicality. We were lucky with the weather most of the time, dry but very cold but the house was always welcoming and seemed to be very well insulated. Seahouses is an excellent base for this part of Northumberland. You can walk north and south along the coastal path and other attractions are only short drives away. There is lots of crockery in the house, but it would have been good to have a few more cutlery sets, but only a minor issue. And finally, as others have said, the welcome pack was a lovely treat, particularly the honey. It's amazing how much 5 people can get through in a week!

Thank you for your lovely review. We have added more cutlery sets to the house. Thank you for alerting us to it. Property Owner

It’s very well equipped and has everything you need for self catering. This is our second year staying here and have booked for next year. Thank you for our review. We have added a rotary clothes dryer as per your suggestion. Property Owner

Spacious kitchen and en-suite rooms are all excellent although I would suggest one room should maybe have twin beds for anyone who either have children or sleep separately, the 2 x piece suite in the living room is uncomfortable to sit on and the tv is too high up the wall so you end up with a sore neck watching it (minor details) all in all a very pleasant stay and hopefully will be back again very soon

We like to cook and would have appreciated sharper knives, the induction hob did not function properly and more chopping boards would be better. Property great for four people but not for six adults.

The comfort and enjoyment of our guests is most important to us and that is why we fitted an en suite to our ground floor bedroom. As we have many appreciative guests who would struggle to access facilities on the first floor, we feel we have made the correct decision. We have tested the induction hob and found it to be in full working order. Full instructions on operation are in the property file. We have now included a knife sharpener and extra chopping boards in the property, thank you for your comments. Property Owner
