  • "The hall was amazing, just wow."

The rooms were huge. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub & games room. Had everything you needed a lovely welcome pack & good response from owner. Have booked again.

  • "Extremely happy with our stay, wonderful property with excellent facilities."

Really enjoyed all the entertainment available and rooms were large and beds very comfortable. Minor notes, no bedding supplied for sofa beds needs to be mentioned on website and lights above pool table and dart board would be much better as difficult to play when dark. Will definitely book again Thank you

  • "Wonderful holiday home for a family of three generations and two dogs."

Easy parking, great location and fantastic facilities. Hot tub and bar particularly appreciated. Hosts were great and we had a totally relaxing and enjoyable time.

  • "Just the most amazing property."

The massive living area made it possible to be included no matter what you were doing, even when using the gym. The pool, darts, juke box and bar made it perfect for fun nights. Not forgetting the hot tub which was excellent, and a lovely garden. The four bedrooms were huge and so comfortable and everything was immaculately clean. We certainly will be returning.

  • "We are a multi generational, blended family."

I can honestly say, we all had the holiday of a lifetime! There was something for everyone - we never had a dull moment. It is such an amazing property, everyone is catered for from the comfiest beds, sauna and hot tub to the quirky touches upstairs in the most enormous reception room we've ever encountered. We were provided with complimentary milk, wine and more - a big thank you to our hosts. It is spotlessly clean and well maintained. A very small thing, but take bedding/sleeping bags for the sofa beds if you're considering using them. We'll definitely be returning next year!

  • "An unbelievable property."

So much space and so well equipped. We went as two families, 4 adults, 2 young children and 1 dog. The children absolutely loved all the fun things for them the play with, the trampoline was a big win. The property is HUGE, and very comfortable. Only down side for us was that we booked the property believing it to be fully enclosed, an essential for us with young children and a dog and it was very much not enclosed. Full open drive out to main road and gaps in low fencing. If these were resolved it would be faultless, but currently it is not advertised adequately and it would not have been on our search list had it been accurately reflected. Saying that we had an amazing stay. The accommodation is in a great location for getting to all the attractions. The hot tub and sauna were wonderful additions.

  • "The Miner’s Hall really has the Wow factor and the photos really don’t do it justice."

It’s huge, and has everything you need, want & more. Everyone in our party was always busy doing something. We had pool & darts tournaments, played the pac man & space invaders on the games machine or were chilling in the hot tub. We loved having a murder mystery night round the grand dining table. When we weren’t busy playing games we were chilling in the hot tub (best I’ve been in) or at the bar. The bedrooms are all huge & had plenty of storage. The laundry room was a huge bonus & allowed us to dry our swim wear & towels. Cooking was never & issue as there was loads of cooking facilities, machines & utensils. We ate out at the Shepherd & Shepherdess pub which was great value for money & tasty home cooked food. The homemade chips were lovely. Beamish is a short drive away and was by far the best museum I have ever been to or taken my kids too, so brilliant we went twice. We found everyone we met in the area friendly & accommodating & would love to return one day. The only things that could make it better are an enclosed driveway for the dogs, and a light above the dart’s board, but that’s just being picky really.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the miners retreat and would love to come back."

We have stayed in a lot of properties over the years and this one is definitely one of the best. There is lots to do at the property and it looks great, we could have done with more hours in the day to enjoy everything. I've never stayed in a property that had literally thought of everything you might want during your stay. We particularly loved the juke box with the bar and the pool table (especially while watching the Euros). Heather our host was great. We had some small issues with the heating and the lights but these were both dealt with very promptly. There isn't a barbecue at the property so we asked if it was ok to use a disposal one and she was more than happy to allow that. I only have one really small niggle about the TVs. We don't go on holiday to watch telly but we did discover that all of the downstairs TVs in the bedrooms are streaming only. As part of the older generation, I would have preferred access to terrestrial telly and also we don't have Netflix ourselves and we discovered that only two people could use the hosts Netflix account at the same time and we were using 3 of the downstairs bedrooms. My only suggestion would be some instructions in the welcome folder for some of the items around the property. For example when we arrived we didn't know how to use the jukebox, after some random button pressing, we found some instructions on the machine itself, also we didn't know how to use the remote with it, again we worked out a couple of things, but more instructions would have been useful. The photos for the property are mostly accurate however on the site we used, it did show a lot pf bottles and things behind the bar, this has now be changed and so the photos could do with updating. The weather was quite cold when we stayed there and the only heating upstairs in the large room is a log burner, this did work pretty well if you sit by the sofas but isn't enough to warm the huge room, however rugs are also provided and were greatly appreciated. Regarding the cleanliness, it is a very large property and I understand it might be difficult to thoroughly clean during the turnaround, but I went into the large room the first night in bare feet and after just a few hours my feet were black, I made sure after that to always wear something on my feet. Also the bedroom that I stayed in had dust on the base of the bedside light which looked like it had been there a while and also quite a bit of dust around the edge of the window in the bathroom, having said that, none of these small issues would stop me from coming back to the property as it was amazing.
