  • "We had a lovely stay."

Perfect base for visits to Bemish and Durham, as well as the parks and lovely beach/wildlife walks in South Shields. The people in South Shields have got to be the happiest and friendliest people in the Country. The accommodation was spacious, tastefully decorated, clean and warm/cosy. Beds really comfy and we slept like babies. Hot tub was big and lovely, even though in a residential area it was private. We’d definitely stay again. One constructive criticism is that the bathroom and kitchen either need a ventilator or just the ability to open the windows (I don’t think you can open them and I didn’t want to force them). This would sort out the majority if not all of the dampness in the kitchen.

Hi, Thank you so much for the positive feedback. There is a window that opens next to the shower in the bathroom . The window next to the toilet doesn't. Having a fan fitted for extras ventilation is a good idea. I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "This property is in a great position for a stay to enjoy South Shields."

First off the house was spotlessly clean. The beds were very comfortable and we all slept very well. It was very peaceful at night. The layout of the property is very good and there was plenty of room for our party of four, although a large party may feel the need for an extra loo on the lower ground floor. Use of the hot tub was lovely after a days walking. The owner was very quick to respond to a couple of issues. Sight seeing opportunities are endless and we purchased a Day Rover ticket for the Ferry and Metro and went all over in a day. Lots of places to eat out and get takeaways. Harbour Lights pub was great for food and Colmans fish & chips takeaway was best. North Sheilds for the Fish Quay area very good and Newcastle Toon is our favourite place to be in the North East. This is a period house with some very nice features and even though it needs a few minor decor touch ups here and there it is a lovely house to stay in. Would easily stay again as there is all you need in the area for a great holiday.

Thank you for your feedback. Property Owner

The property

16 Seafield Terrace is a splendid, mid-terrace cottage situated in the coastal town of South Shields, just outside the hustle and bustle of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Set over three floors, this inviting abode is a lovely place to call home while exploring the attractions of South Tyneside, including many sandy beaches and seaside fun.

Enter on the first floor, where you can come across the lounge; here you can put your feet up after a day of walking, tuning into the Smart TV in search of a favourite film, or simply enjoying the company of each other as you reflect on the day’s events.

Move downstairs to the ground floor, discovering the kitchen/diner and its array of appliances, well-equipped to assist with home-cooking, or order in a local takeaway and pop open a bottle of fizz.

From here you can access the enclosed patio, offering a sumptuous 7 person hot tub which is the perfect way to recover after a long day, while there is also a set of bistro table and chairs for enjoying lunch outside.

As your eyes grow heavy, head upstairs to the bedrooms; on the first floor lies a king-size and a sumptuous bathroom where you can prepare for the day, while the second-floor hosts two king-size doubles and a single, each with neutral tones and touches.

When you’re ready to explore, there’s lots to enjoy in this quaint coastal town; enjoy an exhibition of the fabulous South Shields Museum and Art Gallery, uncover years of history at the Tynemouth Priory and Castle nestled on a rocky headland, or head to the Ocean Beach Pleasure Park and enjoy a day of thrilling rides and fun fair activities.

South Shields is also home to two wonderful parks, South and North Marine Park, where you can feed the ducks and swans at the boating lake and enjoy a miniature steam train ride, before stopping off for some hot sour cherries and ice cream at the café.

If you wish to marvel at local sights, you can go for a scenic stroll along the coast to the renowned St. Mary’s Lighthouse, or travel a little further and check out the breath-taking Tynemouth Priory & Castle; or take a walk to the end of its pier to reach the Tynemouth Pier Lighthouse.

You are also well-placed to accessing the city of Newcastle upon Tyne, giving you a wealth of places to explore, including The Discovery Museum, Tyne Bridge and the Victoria Tunnel Tours, plus a great selection of fine restaurants to sample.

16 Seafield Terrace is a great escape to the North East of England, whatever time of year.
