  • "Lovely cottage clean and comfortable."

    Great location for exploring the local area ..Holy Island,Farne Islands, Bamburgh Castle..... to name but a few. The Forge was a peaceful and cosy place to return to at the end of a day's exploring.

  • "We have stayed at The Forge on four separate occasions so I think this speaks for how much we enjoy our stays here."

    The location and setting are perfect. Close to wonderful beaches, the delights of the Northumberland Coastal Path and places such as Bambrugh Castle and Cragside are particular favourites. Walking from Beadnell to Craster along the coast and enjoying a mug of tea and a kipper barm on a sunny day is just the best. The cottage itself is tiny but well equipped and very comfortable and the garden is very peaceful and safely enclosed for dogs. We have noticed the last couple of times we have visited that the interior is in need of some small repairs but this has not spoiled our stays ( the veneer on one of the kitchen cabinets has partly peeled off and catches each time you open it, the pedal bin has been broken both visits 25, 26 and just needs replacing and the sofa covers need washing or steam cleaning).

In terms of the veneer, I am very much aware of this and have been trying to source replacement doors for the kitchen cabinets. It appears to have been caused by steam from the kettle. The bin should have been changed and I have overlooked this. My apologies. I’ll take a look at the sofa covers. I have changed them a few times with new but may need to replace again. I do hope that you will stay with us again. Hopefully all improvements will be made by then! Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful time at The Forge."

    What a lot of thought & effort has gone into making this an idyllic place to stay. Beautiful surroundings right next to a horse paddock and amazing views. We loved the garden area and want to get the same sun loungers at home! Perfectly secure for our dog too. Comfy bed, super equipped kitchen and a luxurious shower. Would certainly visit again and would only maybe choose to come outside of school holidays next time for a little more peaceful break! Thanks again for the lovely welcome pack, it was a really lovely touch

  • "I had a wonderful week staying at The Forge, in the company of my little terrier."

    Whilst the property is very compact, it was perfect for us, and very cosy. The location is great with a choice of excellent beaches within 10 minutes drive and also a good base to explore further afield. It is set amongst a group of buildings which were, I believe,18th century farm buildings, so it has great character and a feeling of history. There was everything you needed for self-catering and the enclosed garden was great for my dog. Just to mention, there was no welcome pack which others seemed to have received but that is an extremely minor point. We will definitely be back to this lovely, peaceful little bolt hole.

  • "We had a lovely time but in all honesty the forge was a bit small for us."

    Disappointed there was no welcome pack which others had got and also no wood for the burner. Storage was difficult but appreciate everything we needed was there. The road coming in really needs some maintenance as some huge potholes. Overall though we were happy

  • "It was the cutest little cottage, cosy and the kitchen had all the equipment you could want."

    At night it’s really dark outside which is amazing for seeing the stars on clear nights. Perfectly located for some good walks as well.

  • "No logs for the log burner said they were in the shed but nothing in the shed ..."

    No logs for the log burner said they were in the shed but nothing in the shed had to buy my own freezing when we went in they could have put the heating on for us getting there very cold had a power cut while we were there off for about half hour apart from that lovely place little bit small but would stay there again

    Hi there, I am very sorry to learn of your disappointment regarding logs. These are always supplied for winter stays so I can’t understand why they were not on this occasion. Similarly, the heaters are always put on in advance of guests staying so I am sorry if there has been an oversight at the time of your stay. I personally check the cottage very regularly and am very proud of our cleaning and maintenance team. We work very hard to make sure that our guests have a comfortable and enjoyable stay.   • "We booked into The Forge over Christmas for 3 nights."

    The Forge is such a charming little cottage with everything you need. On arrival there was a greeting hamper and card left by the owner, wishing us a Merry Christmas. Unfortunately we had a problem with the electricity, but a phone call from the owner Trisha, had us move into The Smithy next door. Another lovely property. We had a wonderful stay in 2 beautiful properties. We will definitely return.

  • "We had a wonderful stay!"

    Very easy to book and the property was a lovely size, comfortable, and very quiet, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The kitchen was well-equipped with everything we needed to self-cater easily, which made our stay feel just like home. Everything was clean, tidy, and thoughtfully arranged. We really appreciated the peaceful surroundings and would happily stay here again. Highly recommend!

  • "Lovely cottage, cosy and Great location."

    The kitchen was more than adequately stocked for whatever you decided to cook . We were impressed that you gave access to extra TV channels via your own accounts. We would highly recommend this for anyone to escape the hum drum even if its only for a few days On a final note, it was really nice of them to pre warm the property, and provide the snacks and wine

  • "The Forge is small but very comfortable it has all you need to have a enjoyable holiday, and thought as gone into msking full use of the space."

    The enclosed garden was great as dogs could play safely outside, we had a lovely welcome pack waiting. The Forge is great for visiting local areas with Beadnell beach a only 10 minutes away.

  • "Nice welcome pack."

    Directions could be better, had to contact owner as not clear. Garden secure for dogs and enjoyed by them. Space around bed limited would be difficult if you have mobilities problems. Very central for for visiting different areas. Property could do with some scales and had internet problems. Book for instructions needs updating ie where the bins are situated.

Embleton itself has a village pub and a local hotel, and there is an excellent range of amenities in nearby Alnwick.
