  • "On first thoughts this cottage was clean and tidy and looks very comfortable."

I had messaged the owners for some information and they very quick to get back to me. I am sure they are lovely people. However, being woken up every morning as early as 5am by Cockerels was not pleasant! They were then being let out at about 7ish as my son would be woken up between 7-730 with one shouting at his window. The main bed was like a concrete pad with cracks in the frame, so everytime you moved it would make a noise. Also, the boil sounded like a train in the night behind the bedroom wall. If you didn't leave the boiler on, very little hot water in the morning! There generally wasn't enough hot water for 4 people to shower in the morning or night anyway. It was my fault for not reading. However, there is no washing machine at this cottage. So for us as a family of 4 and a dog for 7 nights was not practical. We have stayed in lots of cottages and this is the first one without a washing machine. The rest of the kitchen is fairly well equipped. We are from North Yorkshire and also have our own chickens and spend alot of time in the moors, so we are very much suited to country life. We are aware of current problems with wild rabbits with myxomatosis, we saw a couple while there. There was also a few dead rabbits rotting away within a few meters of the cottage. So had to be careful with the dog. (Need to be moved really) Also, not from the dead rabbits, but the first few days there was a smell of death hanging around which is very unpleasant. With all this said, we checked out 2 days early as we were all very tired from lack of sleep. For a family this cottage would be ok for a weekend, but that is it.

We are so sorry that you have not enjoyed your stay at Pond Cottage. We always try to fix any issues that guests may have while they are staying and would have liked the opportunity to fix any issues you were having whether you had spoken to us directly, messaged us or contacted customer services. We have taken your feedback on board and have found a way of fitting a washing machine to the kitchen. We were unaware that the bed had been broken by a previous guest. We have replaced the bed with a new one. The hot water could have easily been resolved if we had known you were struggling with the quantity of hot water and the shower in the main bathroom is an electric shower which supplies its own hot water. The boiler was serviced days before Christmas this looks have left air in the system causing the noise, it has since been checked and fixed. I am sorry if you have experienced the less than glamourous side of being in the countryside in winter, our other guests who stayed during the same period did not report such issues. We again apologise for you not enjoying your stay and can only ask guests to make us aware of a problem as soon as possible during their stay as most things can be resolved. Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our short stay at Pond Cottage."

It was spacious and fully fitted out with everything that we could possibly need. The cottage was spotlessly clean, with very comfortable sofas and beds. Underfloor heating throughout made the stay a pleasure to come back to the premises after a long day out walking our two dogs on the stunning local beaches throughout the area. Hot running water and spacious spotless showers were a pleasure to use. With fast WiFi throughout the building and a large flatscreen smart tv left us not wanting for anything and regular contact from the owners to check we were happy with everything made the stay extra special. We will definitely return for another stay, that’s if we can find a slot to book into…

  • "We had a lovely stay."

The cottage was beautifully furnished & very comfortable. The wine & chocolates were a very welcoming touch. It was lovely to have everything on one level & the heart of the cottage being the sitting room & kitchen. When we were cooking & hanging out we were all together which was great. The views of the sea were lovely & there was a really nice walk down to the coast. Great location for us & our dogs.

  • "Cottage was gorgeous and very comfortable and clean."

Myself, my son's and my wee dog stayed for 4 nights. I have mobility issues and use 2 sticks and would highly recommend this cottage for those who can't manage stairs ect. Really enjoyed having a ensuite bathroom which was a luxury for me. Only issue was no washing machine but this was not listed in cottage info so reasonable enough. Otherwise 100% happy. We loved the friendly curious cockerel. Nearly brought him back to Scotland with us

Thank you for the lovely feedback, we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay. We hope you will come back again soon. Lesley and Darren Property Owner
