I love it here.

The place is truly magnificent. From the stunning interior decoration to the jaw-dropping setting, it’s pure perfection. The nearby Chesterfield canal is a lovely peaceful walk and the pub on the marina is very reasonably priced with very friendly locals. Nic and Claire are the best hosts - very kind and helpful. You don’t get better than this.

Lovely property inside and out.

You can tell so much love and care has been put into it. The location works well to be able to walk straight out of the property and not have to drive. Definitely plan to return.

The accomodation surpassed our expectations.

Nic and Claire were the perfect hosts. The area is great for wildlife enthusiasts and walkers. It is so peaceful and quiet and with a highlight of seeing kingfishers every day. Lots to see and do in the area. We enjoyed visits to Clumber Park, Poterick Carr Nature Reserve, Idle Valley Nature Reserve and walks around the local area. Local eateries are good too with a warm greeting received from them all. The welcome goodies were also generous and…welcomed

The Pump House is a fabulous location for a walking holiday exploring the extensive waterways of North Nottinghamshire and much more besides.

The owners have done everything possible to make this spacious airy renovated modern property a delight to stay in. Every convenience has been provided: it is spotlessly clean, has a large comfy bed, a lovely patio for eating out in good weather and access to a large garden with a range of seating in shade or sun. The owners also provided a very generous welcome pack; they live on the campus and after an introduction to the property will leave you in peace to enjoy your stay.

This is a fantastic accommodation in a quiet and peaceful location.

The cottage has been lovingly restored by the owners, Nic and Claire, and the comfortable interior is beautifully designed with a private patio and access to a shared garden. There are nice and easy walks along the river and canal direct from the property. Detailed information about places of interest and local dining (the Chalet Eatery is great) is provided before you arrive, and there are further maps and books of local interest in the cottage. We enjoyed trips to Lincoln and Doddington Hall. Nic and Claire have made this a great place to have a nice, relaxing holiday.

Fantastic accommodation which was spotlessly clean and included a generous welcome pack. With a private outside area and use of a beautiful garden we really cannot recommend this lovely place highly enough.

We had a warm welcome. The accomodation was super-clean, comfortable and thoughtfully set up. The bed was particularly comfortable. Excellent information was provided about the building and things to do in the area. Strongly recommended!

We received excellent communication from the owner Nic, prior to the holiday and when we arrived. The welcome pack of goodies was ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and it’s the first time we’ve had the owner check that there was no allergies. Therefore, we would highly recommend the Pump House Forge and the surrounding area for a lovely, relaxing break.

The Forge combines modern interior design within a historic setting in a way that allows you to relax completely. Add to that, an excellent host and easy country walks that all seem to lead to a local pub serving good food and beer – we couldn’t have asked for better. Thank you for a special break.

Wonderful walks from the property along the River Idle and the Chesterfield Canal.

We spent an enjoyable week at The Pump House Forge which is a unique house in a lovely location.

We were warmly welcomed by Nic who showed us how everything worked in the Forge. The accommodation was warm, comfortable and spotlessly clean. We enjoyed walking along the river and canal as well as visiting Lincoln and Doddington Hall. The Co-op in Misterton is within easy walking distance for supplies. We would highly recommend The Pump House Forge and would happily stay there again.

Our third visit because as far as we are concerned the Forge is simply the best!

A wonderful conversion, top quality everything and a friendly host who has thought of everything. If you enjoy peace and quiet, nature, walking and exploring a little known area with a rich history you will not be disappointed. There are numerous books about the area as well as OS maps, binoculars, wellies, a torch and a mound of information about places to visit, walks, restaurants, cafes, pubs etc. There are games, playing cards, books and jigsaws for quieter moments. Our perfect home from home.

Excellent communications and a heartfelt welcome, along with much appreciated local goodies on arrival. Very 'eye-pleasing' decor as a result of a superb renovation to this historic building. Detailed and informative Info. (the best we've ever had), and good amenities. Enjoyed our walks along the river and visited several attractions within easy striking distance, including the friendly local pub by the river, with good food as well. All-in-all a great find and can highly recommend.

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone. Nic and Claire were very welcoming and friendly. They had provided lots of useful information. Personalised welcome pack was thoughtful and much appreciated.

A super property in a good location for a peaceful holiday.

Owners were really helpful and extremely thoughtful ( hot weather so we were given extra fans etc). We loved the way the property had been furnished, real care and attention had been paid to detail. Equipment was of the best quality.

What a wonderful place to stay, the house and location are idyllic.

The facilites are spot on, lots of little details have been considered. Great communication from Nic before we arrived with information about the area and places if interest. We really appreciated the welcome pack. Our highlights were listening and watching the birds, a fleeting glance of the kingfisher and Kestrel flying overhead. Plenty of walks nearby and just a 20 min walk along the river to the friendly The White Hart with local beer. A great place to stay and we hope to return in the future.

Excellent stay at the pump house forge.

Accommodation is unbelievably comfortable,spotlessly clean and fantastic welcome pack.Loads of information in apartment and Nic also emailed multiple pages of places to go and also dine.Plenty of walks on the level with OS map supplied in apartment.Absolutelt fantastic breakfast at local fishery just a few hundred yards away.Short walk left hand side of river idle takes you to Haxley gate inn where we had pie chips and peas and a pint for £12.Buses in Misterton village to Gainsborough,Retford and Doncaster.Would definitely book again.

The Pump house forge was so much better than all the self catering premises we have stayed in over the years.

A perfect renovation to a high standard, with Quirky and appealing furnishings. Very comfortable king size bed. High quality bedding and towels and extremely clean. With electric closing blinds and velux windows and special lighting which was remote control ( took us a while to work it out ) The information on the history of the pump house and local area with maps was also excellent. The welcome box was also 5 star with special bread and biscuits milk Wine beer and butter and milk was a lovely surprize. The garden patio was small but with a larger garden to the rear was also available with chairs to relax . This property is tucked away and very peaceful with access to many walks along the river. The owners were on site and would have been available if required. A small minor detail the sofa was quite small and not very comfortable for a tall chap. we had a lovely holiday and would recommend to friends.

Wow what a wonderful place to stay in.

The cottage was spotlessly clean, very well equipped, lovely and warm. Nic the owner very friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Loads of walks from the doorstep including a lovely river walk to Gainsborough and canal walks. We walked around 80 miles over the week. Would highly recommend.

Well equipped with everything you need. Good WiFi with nice tv set-up. Comfy and warm, really enjoyed my stay. Owner on hand if needed. Very helpful. Would definitely book again.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Forge, it has been fabulously renovated and is equipped to a very high standard, it is in an area we had not previously explored and there was lots to see both locally and a little further afield.

We appreciated the generous supply of goodies that were left by Nic and Claire the lovely owners.

Would give more if possible. Warm welcome by owner on arrival lovely welcome essentials pack. Unique wonderful property history and conversion of The forge and carpenters building. First time for us to this area but looking forward to a return soon, local pubs and restaurants within walking distance. Visited Lincoln 45 minutes away lovely city and Bawtry 10 minutes drive from The forge is lovely. Thanks for a memorable week.

OUTSTANDING.

Exceeds expectations. Listing doesn't do it justice. Everything to a high standard and you are still noticing clever touches days into your stay. Best compliment I can give is that I could move in tomorrow and change almost nothing. Owners couldn't be more helpful. Great walking around the area and saw 2 kingfishers - one on the canal and the other on the river.

Amazing holiday accommodation, best we have ever stayed in (and we've stayed in quite a few) would highly recommend.

Owner friendly and helpful.

Having visited the Pump House Forge in June this year enjoyed both the property and the area, we decided on a return visit and loved it just as much this time.

The property is interesting has everything one needs, is really cosy and there are plenty of local walks or places a bit further away for walking or visits. Also a lot of places to eat and drink so now it's back to the gym! Thanks Nic and Claire.

Everything was excellent.

It was comfortable, modern, designer level and clean. Nothing had been overlooked and everything done to a perfect level. Setting was great with walks and town visits nearby. Owners were friendly. The only thing to take up with Sykes is that initially I had filtered for the Peak District and this property came up, yet it is 50+ miles to the edge of that district. In the end this did not matter and we enjoyed discovering the local area and Lincolnshire so no regrets.

We have used many Sykes properties and by far this has been the best.

We were met by Nic who showed us around the property pointing out useful tips. It was like walking into a show property at the Ideal Home Exhibition. I could go on and on praising this property, but all I can say now is if you are thinking of booking here, do it you won't be disappointed.

A fabulous property, wonderful host(s) and interesting area with lots to do.

Nic ( we didn't meet Claire) tailored a welcome pack to our tastes, showed us round and explained everything and went the extra mile to make our stay comfortable. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen well equipped and as the weather was hot and sunny the outdoor space - patio and garden were welcome. Nic even provided a Dyson cooling fan and a sheet as the duvet was superfluous. It was not an area we had visited before and provided excellent walks, places to visit and some reasonably priced pubs with good food. A wonderful stay and a privilege to borrow such an interesting renovation.

The Pump House Forge is a beautifully restored & renovated former forge that once served the two former steam driven pumping stations.

The owners, Nic & Claire couldn't be more helpful. Misterton is a small friendly village with a couple of pubs, a chippy & local CoOp.

I watched The Forge in its stages of renovation when staying at the wonderful “Ada” last July.

I knew I wanted to stay at The Forge later this year. And then suddenly I had time to come in the spring…..I felt rather special to be the first guest! What a glorious metamorphosis! As stylish as “Ada” but with the same attention to quality and design. Plus a view across the Mother Drain to “Ada”……… Nic and Claire are to be congratulated on another brilliant project and again I must thank them for sharing their amazing home. Ann
