South Tower Cottage

Just as promised a wonderful spacious property and so very clean.

An amazing, spacious, quiet property in a glorious setting, totally secure and private but with expansive views across the gardens and estate.

Modern and comfortable but in keeping with a period property. The only negatives were the lack of wardrobes or hanging space and storage in the bedrooms, and that the upper rooms became very warm and stuffy as the windows were painted shut or secondary glazing blocked access, otherwise this is a 5 star cottage across the board.

Fantastic setting in the grounds of a genuine "stately home" (Capesthorne Hall - which is only open to the public on two afternoons a week - the rest of the time it's like having your own beautifully-kept estate to wander-about in). The place was immaculately clean, well-appointed and equipped, comfortable and warm - with delightful views from every window. It is definitely a 'tower', with a double bedroom and bathroom on each of the two upper floors reached by quite steep flights of stairs. The bathrooms both had excellent walk-in showers and the top bathroom was also equipped with a roll-top bath big enough for a water-polo match! One very minor 'niggle' is that my wife, who is somewhat 'vertically-challenged' couldn't reach any of the clothes-hanging hooks, but it didn't stop us from having a wonderful time.

Really loved the property.

Only suggestion I would make is that there are a few more coasters and perhaps some mugs. A few serving dishes as well. Perhaps some clear instructions about the recycling, what you could recycle etc. The bins were I think the wrong way round and only noticed the sign on the last day. There was work going on in the area at the time, so probably reason why. However, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, loved walking round the garden and woodland. Thank you.

Lovely property in the grounds of a well maintained country estate.

We visited Capesthorne a couple of years ago as day visitors and we're delighted to return as overnight guests. The South Tower has a great view of the garden on one side and of the park on the other. It is furnished beautifully with lots of comfy seating, a well equipped kitchen and good showers/bath. It was a bit chilly when we stayed, but the heating was good and the property warmed up well. We really enjoyed our stay, but we did find the bed in the main bedroom a bit too firm for our liking. The twin beds are softer. We hope to return again for a longer stay soon.

It is a peaceful area. Nice area to walk. highly recommend the tranquility here as we normally stay here during the week when we visit family in Manchester.

The property itself was well equipped and furnished. Everything was extremely comfortable and well thought out. It was very quiet and peaceful during our stay; I can imagine it might be a different experience during events or open days. Easy to get to many places nearby. If you are looking for somewhere a little different to the norm then definitely consider this one - we would recommend and would love to return.

Without doubt, South Tower is impressive accommodation.

Tasteful decor, luxurious furnishings and 2 high quality en- suite showers.Access for guests to beautiful gardens and lake.National trust properties within easy reach. Just a wonderful ,relaxing place to be. Highly recommend.

In fact our stay was not in South Tower as for reasons beyond their control it was not available so we stayed in the Carriage House which was absolutely magnificent .

Spacious ,warm ,comfortable and exquisitely presented . We are looking forward to returning to Carriage house and have already recommended a visit there to many friends and relatives , so perhaps we will have to join a queue to find a vacant spot! We only had one small problem with a window blind and it was fixed within 20 minutes of us calling for help A dream visit !

We stayed in this for a couple of nights after we got married, and it was absolutely wonderful The cottage was in a beautiful setting, and despite some anxiety before coming about getting into and out of the estate out of hours, this could not have been easier.

The cottage was warm, well appointed and had plenty of space, with pleasant views from every window, and we both slept soundly each night. The ability to explore the grounds was greatly appreciated, and we could not have imagined a better place to relax after our wedding and before our honeymoon. We thoroughly recommend this location and it is a credit to the Davenport family.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the South Tower.

It was spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. The setting and the gardens are stunning, and the interesting tour of Capesthorne Hall with Val and Peter was an added bonus. Everyone we met was friendly and welcoming, and we would definitely love to stay here again.

We have just returned from a mini 4 Day break in this unique property.

The photographs of the South Tower are accurate, but they don’t begin to show how lovely it is, and the grounds are beautiful which is a credit to all the Gardening Team. The location was perfect with easy access to RHS Bridgewater, NT Quarry Bank Mill and many more. Will definitely return in the future.

We loved our recent stay at South Tower Cottage.

Upon arrival it was spotlessly clean, and we found it to be very spacious. It was the perfect base for us to explore Cheshire for a few days, we didn’t get chance to walk around the grounds due to weather and time constraints but this just means we will have to visit again. As others have stated, the welcome tray was a bit lacklustre, a cafetière with nothing provided to be able to use it, and a new toilet seat is needed for the top bathroom. I would’ve found it useful as well to have access to a hoover and been provided with a dishcloth but this does not put me off wanting to return again.

It is a large, beautiful estate, peaceful, and relaxing with lots of things to see around.

Gorgeous grounds with this property, bed in top bedroom needs a new mattress, and a new toilet seat I'm the loo!

We love it at Capesthorne Hall! But we'd prefer one with less stairs! The South Tower was the only one we could book for the dates we wanted to go!

Lovely stay, the tower has everything you need and the grounds are great to walk around.

Only criticism would be to make sure the little things are there ie: salt in the salt pot, dishcloth and more than one toilet roll for a 5 night stay.

A cottage befitting of its location in the grounds of a stately home with beautiful soft furnishings, relaxing bedrooms and luxurious bathrooms.

Lovely views from all windows of the surrounding estate, and although we didn't use it, it was good to have a private garden. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend the cottage which was well located to access the surrounding area. The only negative was the welcome tray which, laid out with water bottles, sachets of coffee (and a cafetiere?), 1 tea bag, little pots of milk, and two pack biscuits was more like a hotel room tray and not in keeping with the quality of the cottage. It compared badly to the treats, usually locally produced, that owners have left out to welcome us to other cottages we have stayed in. Obviously this didn't spoil our stay but given the attention to detail in the furnishing of the property and the stunning location it was somewhat disappointing.

Absolutely beautiful place to stay.

We had an amazing time. Accommodation was fantastIc and the Hall and grounds were great to spend the day walking around. The beds were so amazingly comfy and loved the little garden. One minor thing was no soap/shower gel but that’s was a very minor thing over the course of a fabulous weekend. Thank you so much.

Loved the house.

It was so comfortable and quiet. The grounds were lovely. We don’t know what it would be like if there were a wedding on - it would probably be a bit noisy, but for us it was perfect.

We had a lovely stay at South Tower Cottage.

The house is even nicer than it looks in the photos! It is huge with two bedrooms, bathrooms, separate living and dining rooms and a kitchen. Everything was clean and very comfortable. It was great to have the grounds to explore (the house is only open to the public on Sunday and Monday). Highly recommended. One minor warning for guests is to be alert when driving on the long driveway; there were a couple of rather fast drivers who preferred to overtake on the grass rather than use the passing places.

What a delightful place to stay, we came because we needed a rest and it was the perfect setting.

Our accommodation was beautifully furnished and very clean, with gorgeous views of the grounds and old chapel. Enjoyed eating outside in our own private garden and also wandering down to the lake in the evening with a glass of wine. Hope it’s not too long before we can come back again!

The location was outstanding with beautiful walks and interesting places to visit.

The cottage was well presented with very comfortable rooms. The beds and duvets provided a really luxurious sleep. We would certainly like to visit again.

This property was immaculately clean with lovely views of the grounds of Capesthorne Hall from all the windows.

It is ideal for 2 couples staying as the two bedrooms are on different floors and both have their own bathroom. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped, only missing a washing machine, although we would have appreciated better quality pans. There was a small welcome pack of coffee and tea, biscuits, water and a bottle of prosecco. Washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets were also provided. The location was very peaceful as the grounds are only open to the public 2 afternoons a week, we enjoyed lovely quiet walks and runs through the grounds, around the lake and through the woods. The Hall itself is well worth a visit on the afternoons that it is open to the public. We had a very enjoyable week here and can absolutely recommend.

We have stayed at Capesthorne Hall a few times when we have been working in the area, and it's always a delight to return after a day's work.

The properties are beautifully furnished, extremely comfortable, and set within magnificent grounds.

What a wonderful location, for us.

You do have to travel to do anything; but as this location was close to family, it was awesome. Plenty of living space for a 2 bed facility Lots of outside space for the children to roam, safely and explore. Would have no problems in highly recommending this accommodation.

After a terrible trip with motorway delays it was great to finally arrive at South Tower to such lovely accommodation.

All info emailed in advance re how to get into the Hall grounds. Lovely dining room and lounge, kitchen has everything you need with views over the grass towards the lake. Lovely small private garden. Great bedrooms and bathrooms. I would say there’s alot of stairs in the property in case people struggle or have small children. My parents stayed at the lakeside cottage, smaller living space , no views and next to the bigger property for 12 so not ideal if that’s booked as likely to be noisy. Nice to mooch around the grounds and woodland area too. They were filming an advert in the grounds during our stay.m for one day. We were given prior notice and left some Prosecco on our doorstep as it over ran. Nice touch. South tower was a great base for us and we would stay there again.

Probably the fridge should have a freezer compartment.

Also warn older clients that the stairs are quite steep.

We had an absolutely fabulous stay at the cottage in the grounds of Capesthorne Hall.

This was where we married in 2006 and we loved going back to visit. Great location, short drive from nearest town and the grounds are beautiful, perfect for kids to run around or romantic walks in the woods and around the lake. The cottage has everything you need, very well equipped kitchen and generally throughout. The decor is lovely, clearly a lot of thought went into the design of each room and it is stylish but very comfortable also. Staff are very helpful and friendly. The cottage was spotless and everything was super clean, clearly important at the present time. We will definitely be going back to stay here!

Despite "corporate" nature of owners, very friendly, very helpful and will be recommending this accommodation to my friends.
