  • "This was a delightful property with all the amenities that you could want."

    The kitchen was well stocked with the addition of a separate bar area. It was very clean throughout. The TV proved a challenge & could do with some instructions. Ideally situated with a lovely pub in the village.

  • "Dear Owner - Loved every inch of Dolly’s House and hope we can stay there again sometime."

    This is in no way a criticism, just a wear and tear observation that it would be a great shame if the kitchen cupboard doors, around the handle areas, are left to look a bit worn out for too long. Only saying this cos it is such a lovely holiday let. Thank you

  • "Disappointed no TV as airel was lying on the roof,blinds at all angles needing new attachments, not enough dishes for 8 people,no mirror in 1 bedroom, needs extra chairs in lounge."

  • "Overall we enjoyed our stay."

    The location is convenient, and contrary to other reviews, the nursery next door was no bother whatsoever. The road outside though changes from 30mph to 60mph, and many drivers/riders seem to really like to put their foot down in the early hours, and it can be a little noisy. Fortunately it was not hot weather, so we didn't need windows open - and this is really beyond the owner's control anyway. The biggest issue for us was the TVs. There is no Freesat or Freeview box, with reception relying on the internet connection. I wanted to watch the Lionesses play, and the iPlayer on the main TV was appalling, with connectivity issues - whether this was wifi playing up, or just the age of the TV I do not know. In the end, I had to connect my laptop to the TV to get anything near watchable. This is a shame, as I think any holidaymaker should be able to just sit down and watch anything without having to connect their own devices. Not everyone takes away suitable equipment to do so. The TV in the snug was even more unusable, having a Google Chromecast which originally would not even connect. If I could recommend one change, it would be to replace the TVs with something mid-range, but more modern, and ensuring a better wifi signal to them - it would be hugely beneficial to guests. One more personal foible was that I found the espresso machine a messy faff. If we came back, I'd stick with the cafetiere I think. A pod machine would be simpler for guests. Other than that, it's a very impressive property, with plenty of room, and lots of things that we didn't even get round to using.

  • "Beautiful house in a beautiful setting."

    The wonderful garden was perfect in the hot sunny weather we had whilst there. The host was lovely and even delivered us fresh farm eggs. A beautiful big family home lots of space for us all.

  • "THE INFORMATION IN THIS BOX TO BE SHARED WITH PROPERTY OWNER ONLY, NOT FOR PUBLISHING TO OTHER CUSTOMERS."

    We really enjoyed our holiday. We feel that Dolly's house would benefit from having a couple of armchairs in the sitting room so that all adults could sit together in the evenings and perhaps a bit of TLC generally.

    Hi! Can you let me know what TLC you felt is required? I understand about the armchairs. Unfortunately we have had furniture broken by previous guests and this needs to be replaced. Despite my request above, and another offer to discuss the “TLC” required via the medium the guest had chosen to communicate with me repeatedly during her stay, I still have not been told what the issues were. Apart from a poorly draining sink I was not informed of any other issues. Please know that, whilst we do our best to ensure that the property is in excellent condition for your arrival, when a property is occupied and then vacated at a high frequency by groups of people then wear and tear is inevitable. We can respond to this only when we are aware of it. My property manager does their best to spot issues during changeover periods but these can be as short as 4hours so, understandably, minor issues do get missed. We are always happy to be informed of any issues with the property and will do our utmost to correct them during your stay. We are also very understanding when things get broken with reasonable use. Just let us know so we can replace items as required. My contact details are easily accessible in the property and are provided prior to arrival. Leaving a review that is clearly visible to the public without giving us any option to remedy the issues is unfair. Property Owner

  • "Guests were requested to minimize noise after 10pm due to semi detach property, No mention that it is run as nursery school between 07:30 - 18:00 and as such can be very noisy."

    On arrival we had to clean cups etc before use as they had been used and left dirty. The fridge required cleaning prior to use, oven was dirty. Smart TVs did not function. as there was a lack of any operating instructions, a request to the owner was met with "STOP NICK PICKING" plug in your devices and use Iplayer its all WIFI. No bath mats so extra towels had to be used. It felt the property had not been prepared for our visit. Although the property is fantastic a little customer care and respect would have made our holiday much better resulting higher scoring.

    I feel I have to set the record straight here. On the evening of your arrival you called me, angrily demanding instructions for the oven. When I tried to get more information I was then told that the property was “terrible”and the “worst holiday property” you had stayed in. I offered to come and help you with the oven at which point you said you didn’t need help as you had got it working. You just “wanted there to be instructions”. I asked you to send photos of the cleanliness issues and contacted my cleaner so we could attend and try and address these. However I then had another aggressive phone call demanding assistance with the tv. You also sent three photos of a clean fridge and oven. No photos of dirty dishes or cobwebs. At this point I didn’t feel it would be safe for me to attend as a woman on my own. At no point was I informed that the property was not ready for you or that there weren’t enough towels or bath mats. It is a shame that we have had to instruct guests to keep noise down after 10pm. This was only done after more than one set of badly behaving guests kept our neighbour awake beyond 2am. I will alter the advertising information to let people know that the neighbour is a child minder so that guests who are irritated by the joyful noises of happy children during socially acceptable hours can choose to holiday elsewhere.   • "We had a brilliant time in Dolly’s house, meeting up with family who live in Glasgow and Wiltshire so a perfect halfway point."

    The house is very comfortable and very clean with plenty of space for our two little ones who loved running around and loved the garden. It is very tranquil and relaxed and we enjoyed our walk to the Bear’s Paw for dinner. We will definitely return.

    Weve spent 2 weeks in this property now and the only reason we are not extending our stay is because the property has already been booked out. The property is huge,very spacious,great views and an ideal getaway if you are visiting someone or something in the area. I would highly recommend

The property

Dolly's House nestles in an attractive rural location, and is a beautifully extended property that offers immaculately presented, spacious accommodation which is just perfect for a gathering of family and friends looking for a getaway to Cheshire.

Your holiday begins as soon as you park up on the ample driveway which has space for five cars.

Step into the light and airy open-plan living space and you are immediately struck by the scale of the property with plenty of room for guests to get together and socialise, but also lots of space for them to get away from each other too!

The kitchen is a chef’s delight with everything needed to produce delicious food for the holiday party should you be planning a meal in and the elegant dining area is set up ready to host memorable meals.

The adjoining bar area is a great alternative space to chill out with bar stools helping to create a real ‘out, out’ vibe.

If the sun is shining, then the outside space is incredibly inviting with far-reaching rural views providing a suitably peaceful backdrop.

There are two separate areas for chilling out with the sitting room a welcoming space with loads of comfy seating, a TV and a feature fireplace area, the ideal setting to gather together and catch up on each other’s holiday stories, or there is the snug, where you can imagine switching off, curling up with a good book and enjoying some much-needed ‘downtime’.

Come bedtime and there are four stylish bedrooms to choose from including the impressive master suite which comprises a massive bedroom with doors opening onto a Juliet balcony with stunning countryside views, a walk-in wardrobe and an open-plan en-suite bathroom.

Other bedrooms include two doubles (one with en-suite facilities) and a twin with a family bathroom completing the accommodation.

After a coffee on the patio area to wake up in the morning, it’s time to start planning the day’s activities.

The appealing market town of Sandbach is a few miles away and has a good selection of pubs and shops, making it a great place to stock up on holiday essentials and stop off for a refreshing pint.

If you fancy immersing yourself in the great outdoors, then head to Brereton Heath Nature Reserve which boasts 50 acres of fantastic heathland with walks for people of all ages and abilities, lake views and birds and butterflies aplenty to look out for.

Nearby Jodrell Bank Observatory is a must-visit with fascinating stories and insights into scientific breakthroughs and research brought to life through interactive exhibitions, planetarium shows and live events.

Chester Zoo is a short drive and is one of the leading visitor attractions in the country and is well worth a day out.

Dolly’s House is spacious and elegant with delightful rural views and is the perfect base to explore the region.

SANDBACH

Holmes Chapel 5 miles: Jodrell Bank 7 miles; Chester 27 miles.

Sandbach is a large historic market town located off the M6 in Cheshire and dates back to Saxon times with its famous Saxon Crosses still visible in the cobbled square. The town offers plenty of interesting shops with many pubs and restaurants to visit. In the centre of Sandbach the market square holds regular weekly markets and a monthly farmers' market as well as a great Christmas market to keep everyone happy. The Brereton Heath Nature Reserve is a place to visit with some lovely walks and some interesting wood sculptures to see. For something a little different you can visit St Mary's Church, a Grade II listed building with some beautiful stained glass windows as well as the church yard which is a peaceful place to explore.

Note: There are horses in the fields to the rear of the property which guests are asked not to feed and please supervise children around them at all times.
