Description

Bollington 1.9 miles.

Settled on the outskirts of the quaint village of Adlington, a stone's throw away from the historic town of Bollington, rests this delightful mid-terrace holiday home, Fox Bank Cottage.

Dating back to the 1800's and boasting a stone-built exterior whilst enjoying close proximity to the delights of the Cheshire countryside, Fox Bank Cottage makes an idyllic base for a small family or group of friends looking to explore this picturesque region.

Park up in your off-road parking space before climbing a handful of stone steps to reach the front garden nestled at the foot of this lovely dwelling, where you can marvel at the peaceful countryside setting of your home-from-home before venturing indoors to begin your staycation.

Stepping inside, be welcomed into the snug sitting room, where a rustic woodburning stove sits within an exposed stone inglenook fireplace, inviting you to unwind with a sumptuous seat in front of the Smart TV following a day of adventure.

Continuing through the wooden ledge and brace door, discover the open-plan kitchen/diner, beautifully-appointed with high-quality fittings and well-equipped with a range of amenities, including an electric oven and hob, a dishwasher to ensure cleaning up is a breeze, and a handy washing machine positioned nearby in the cloakroom.

Rustle up a hearty meal for your loved ones and gather together at the dining table to indulge, or if you're traveling in the warmer months, make mealtimes an alfresco affair with a sociable seat in the garden, enveloped by the lush greenery of your peaceful setting.

As the evening grows darker, retreat indoors and climb the stairs to the first floor where you'll find two well-presented bedrooms, a double and a twin, each framing views over the garden and fit with their own TV, so you can drift off to the sound of your favourite show filling the calming space.

In the morning, make use of the overhead shower in the family bathroom to kick-start your day with a revitalizing rinse, or pour in the bubbles and indulge in a soak as your towel heats on the nearby rail.

Lace up your walking boots and embark on a two-footed adventure along the nearby Middlewood Way, an 11 mile trail following the line of a former railway through the peaceful countryside of Cheshire, or soak in the sights with a leisurely stroll along the banks of the Macclesfield Canal.

After working up an appetite, head into the heart of Adlington to treat yourself to a well-deserved meal at the local village pub, the Toby Carvery, or if that's not to your taste, catch the train and journey to the nearby town of Bollington, where you'll find a fantastic selection of eateries to choose from, along with a handful of elegant wine bars to end the evening in style.

Follow the flowing waters of the River Dean toward the magical Waulkmill Waterfall hidden amongst the woodland, or hike to the summit of Kerridge Ridge to discover the historical landmark of the White Nancy, boasting far-reaching views across the rooftops of Cheshire towards the peaks of Eryri (Snowdonia).

The market town of Macclesfield is within easy reach, where you can immerse yourself in the regions fascinating silk history with a tour of Macclesfield Silk Museum, test your swing with a round of golf at Macclesfield Golf Club, or wander through the stalls at Treacle Market.

Get dressed to the nines and enjoy a night on the town in the vibrant city of Manchester, home to a fabulous selection of pubs, bars and clubs, or if that's not your thing, there's a variety of museums, with displays ranging from football to science, the grounds of Old Trafford and the Etihad Stadium, along with a bustling high-street, perfect for indulging in a spot of retail therapy.

Whether you're looking to unwind or experience adventure, choose Fox Bank Cottage as your base.

Well provided and welcome basket.

Good stock for wood burner and good size fridge freezer. Wc both upstairs and downstairs. TVs in both bedrooms and downstairs and a large garden. We loved the birds coming to the feeder and took video of the woodpecker feeding on the fat balls. Great place for canal path walk and middlewood way amble / circular walk including both going Bollington way and Marple way. Great for bikers also. Only one parking place at cottage.

We have stayed here before.

It is a lovely homely little cottage with a good garden to be in and for our dogs. Thank you for the wine, milk and snacks and the beautiful roses in the vase. We have no complaints except that again the shower was difficult to control for heat and power but good when we got it right! As it had been unbearably hot at home in Devon, the owner kindly supplied a fan. It was a bit cooler in Cheshire and the cottage was cooler too, so we didn’t have to use it. Thank you very much for supplying it. There are lovely walks by the canal and along Middlewood Way just yards away. Visitors should be aware that there is one space only for a car and no other parking space nearby, but a bit of a walk away.
