    "We’ve just spent a fabulous peaceful long weekend at the Stables."

    The views are fantastic and the accommodation is really well done. Really nice to be provided with teas coffee milk etc as well as some treats along with essentials such as dishwasher tablets and kitchen roll. It’s in a great location with beautiful walks from the doorstep. Lovely pub just a short walk too.

    Great location, beautiful views, walks from the door, greeted by owner on arrival with a very tasty bottle of wine and homemade bread, much appreciated. Throughly recommend. Good pubs nearby.

Dark Peak Vineyard Holiday Cottages

Dark Peak Vineyard Holiday Cottages are a pairing of wonderful holiday homes resting in Mellor, which is just outside of Manchester and on the edge of the stunning Peak District National Park. The Plucking Shed (1176360) and The Stables (1176720) are set right next to each other and are a great choice for couples, families or even a small group of friends who are seeking a peaceful retreat in this charming part of the country. From the farm, you can walk into the Peak District National Park, with hundreds of miles of walking and cycling routes. Or you can catch the train from Marple, a short walk/drive away, into the heart of the Peaks. Go and explore the Hope Valley, or climb Jacob’s Ladder to take in the views from Kinder Scout. There are plenty of walking and cycling routes around the farm and village too, with four excellent local pubs all reachable on foot, and more options in Marple Bridge just a mile down the hill. It’s always just a short walk back across the fields after a good meal in Mellor – a great spot for foodies. If you want a break from your hiking boots, catch the train or take the bus into Stockport or Manchester for a night of fine dining, theatre, sport or music. The village of Marple Bridge is situated on the edge of the Peak District National Park and is close to the Derbyshire border and the city of Manchester. Marple Bridge offers three pubs, all of which serve food, a coffee shop and an artisan bakery/patisserie, which is also a coffee shop by day and a restaurant at night. The Roman Lakes in the village are popular with fishermen, walkers, cyclists and horse-riders. You can access the canal between the town of Marple and Marple Bridge and walk to Disley where you will find the National Trust owned Lyme Park. From the village take the train to Manchester and within half an hour you can experience all the history, theatre, shopping and dining that this major city has to offer. You can also take the train to Edale and walk back, which offers a great day out for keen walkers, plus there are several golf courses nearby. The spa town of Buxton is 15 miles away and is well worth visiting and within driving distance are Chatsworth House, Holmfirth, Castleton, the Goyt Valley and the Blue John Mines. Marple Bridge is an ideal destination for countryside pursuits, a city escape or for exploring the lovely villages and towns nearby.
