The Stables

Fantastic property in a great location, only criticism would be the mattresses could be more comfortable and the shower needs a door rather than a curtain.

We were more than pleased with The Stables.

It was larger than the photos suggested, so quite large for 2 people. It had everything that one could possibly need. We did not use the washing machine. The mattress was a bit soft for my liking but we slept well. The wild garden/land and the little pond with the resident pair of moorhens was a delight. We had good weather meant that we were able to sit out. The cottage was very private. The pub and the village shop were a 2 minute walk via the gate in the garden behind the house. The shop is open most of the time and there was a choice of real ales on tap at the pub (The Tigers Head). An excellent stay and we are planning to return, possibly later this year. NB. Care was needed exiting the cottage, especially in the morning as it is a blind exit and a mirror across the road would make things safer.

Lovely property, very clean and well maintained, but the beds were really uncomfortable!

This was our third stay at The Stables.

We love the peace here and the walks and cycle trails so nearby. We are going home with sore legs and bottoms. The house as usual was immaculate and VERY warm - we had to turn the radiators down! One apology. We had a very large flask that would only fit in the fridge after I'd taken a shelf out and I forgot to put it back. It's on the kitchen top by the wall for safety. Sorry. We hope to return again another time if you'll have us. Chris and Paul.

This is a great place to stay tucked away nice and peaceful but close enough to great walking.

Both Manchester and Chester are in easy reach .

We loved our week at The Stables.

This was our second visit and the cottage was just as comfortable as we remembered. The cottage is well equipped with all you need for a great stay. It is quiet and has a lovely feel with the figs around the front door and the apple trees in the garden. It is clean and fitted 5 of us in comfortably. My only suggestion would be to maintain the small garden next to the cottage more so it is a nicer place to sit in good weather.

Fantastic stay at the Stables!

Such a wonderful place to stay. Super clean and loved the "Scandi" tones. The garden and outside areas are superb. I made plum jam from the abundance of plums on one of the trees. We loved all the fruit trees and the fig tree outside the front door. The local shop selling local veg, meat and cheese was just a 5 minute walk away is a real gem! Great walks on the door step and the nearby surrounding areas. My only wish ( this is not a complaint) is that a bath would be nice. We walked miles everyday and a bath would have been welcome. I would happily have paid extra for this. I would highly recommend the Stables to anyone seeking a beautiful retreat in a rural setting. Thank you.

A beautiful, well presented cottage with everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable.

Lovely location which made for a peaceful stay. Ideal spot for us to explore Cheshire and a trip into Liverpool (Manchester and Chester were on the doorstep too). Spacious kitchen and dining area with two bathrooms which were immaculate - loads of towels provided. Thank you. Only suggestion, it was mid summer, the children had 4.5 tog duvets on their beds but the master bedroom had a 12+ tog duvet, just too hot.

Fantastic place to stay.

Nice, clean, quiet place for families. Very comfy, lokal store and tiger head pub just round the corner, many thinvs to do arround, close ro Chester so everybody can find out something to do, or you can just stay there and relax.

A lovely quiet private retreat, where you could sit out in the garden without being overlooked by other houses, and watch the little birds come to feed & see the Ducks on the garden pond.

Kitchen was nice & spacious & smart TV was a bonus. Very thoughtful of the owner to leave us Milk & Biscuits. Would definitely love to stay again.

This was our second visit to The Stables, the first being just before Covid hit, and it was just as we remembered it.

We love the peace and wild garden. The house has everything we could need. The village is lovely and we walked up for a paper every morning and said hello to the penguin in the Phone Box! I expect the contents change with the season. We did lots of cycling, visited the Boat Lift and Jodrell Bank. Thank you for letting us use your Stable.

A great 4 weeks at the Stables.

It is very warm quiet & comfortable in it's own picturesque plot of land. It has a small shop and great pub just around the corner. Will be booking again for next January. Being ultra picky the only way it could be improved would be to get a dishwasher.

Another great stay at The Stables, lovely quiet and secluded location with country pub and local shop around the corner.

Nice walks from the property and close to Delemere Forest, as well as being close to Chester for the shopping and historic sites.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Stables and would be happy to return.

It is a nice house on a very quiet location.

The surroundings are nice with a lot of this to do and towns to visit. We weren't a big fan of the double bed but this is personal. We would have prevered to have the curtains within the bedrooms to block more light as now you do wake up very early everday even when you do not have any early plans

This little cottage in a beautiful wild flower field is like a little piece of heaven.

Knowing we could arrive at anytime as keys were collected from keysafe at the property took the pressure off our journey (which was a very long one), and I will be looking for this option on bookings we make in the future. The cottage was spotlessly clean and and felt like a home away from home. Thank you so much for having us.

We had a wonderful week staying at the Stables in Norley.

We were visiting family and the cottage was the perfect place for some quiet time after busy days. Very comfortable, with all the equipment, crocks and cutlery required. One minor room for improvement would be the provision of extra bags for the rubbish bins in the kitchen.

A beautiful little cottage.

Everywhere was very clean, warm and well kept. We enjoyed our stay in the peace and quiet. We enjoyed sitting watching the ducks, geese and birds and their antics on the large pond however if our small grandchildren has been with us we would have been very concerned about the open access to the pond. Just a couple of little niggles, the kitchen was a little lacking in dishes that could be used in the oven and the heating controls were overly complex.

We had a great stay at The Stables over Christmas week.

It's a comfortable cottage with good facilities and very well located on the edge of Norley village in beautiful countryside but only 25 mins by car (or less) to all major facilities. No dishwasher, though, so be prepared to do lots of washing up if cooking.

The property was just right for our purposes.

It was clean, well equpped and beautifully appointed. We had a lovely warm home to come back to after exploring Cheshire and enjoyed a drink at the local pub one evening. (We did have to go out and buy toilet roll as there was only one in the property which had two bathrooms, but this was a minor inconvenience.)

The accommodation was very good.

It was comfy and well resourced. The shower room would benefit from a heated towel rail and a non-slip mat.

We have stayed here a number of times now and we love it.

Its always so clean when we arrive and the owner left us wine, biscuits and milk, which was a lovely touch. It's very peaceful and there are nice walks from house, with a friendly local pub and very small shop within a few mins walk away. We hope to return AGAIN

It’s cosy, clean and in a lovely setting. The cottage was well equipped, had everything we needed and provided a great base for our holiday. We found the outdoor setting really pleasant and loved the pond and fruit trees. We appreciated the rewilding efforts but agree with others that the patch outside the front door would benefit from some more flowers to give it a more of a garden feel. We’d definitely come again!

The Stables is a welcome retreat with very high standards.

The only downside was that the sofas were really uncomfortably.

We found it very difficult to locate the property and only succeeded after help from Sykes customer services .

We had heard of No Mow May but this must have been May 2000 due to the length of the grass and the nettles. A previous comment mentioned they could only access 2 channels on both televisions. I wish it had been that good, we had ITV 3 +1. The 2 settees had seen better days and were both very uncomfortable. In fact we ended leaving a day early to protect our spines.

A very clean and comfortable home but no TV as just 2 channels on the two otherwise 9/10 marks for rest of facilities Also if they mowed the grass in front of the cottage then that would have been more welcoming

We spent a lovely week at The Stables last month.

Accommodation was very comfortable, clean and modern. The site is totally private and overlooks a meadow which has been left uncut, but there is a smallish area in front of the property which has been cut, beyond which is a large pond, so not suitable for families with young children. There is a small orchard at the side of the property where you can dry washing on the rotary airer. There is also a bench, as well as a picnic table and bench combined. A small cloakroom with basin and toilet is next to the master bedroom, and a bathroom with excellent shower, basin and toilet is downstairs. The kitchen had everything we could want, and looked almost brand new. Many thanks for the milk and biscuits left out for us. There are several National Trust properties nearby. Biddulph Grange Gardens are really impressive and gardeners will love Stonyford Cottage Garden and Garden Centre. It is quite close to the Stables and the owner has won gold and silver awards at the Chelsea Flower Show. We also visited Jodrell Bank, Speke Hall, Little Moreton Hall and Blakemere Village which is well worth a visit if you like antiques. Best cafe we visited was Zaza cafe bar in Northwich and best pub was The White Barn in Cuddington. Recommended.

We have just returned from a few days at the stables, which is a light, airy and deceptively spacious cottage.

It was very clean and has everything you need, in walking distance to a very nice village with a local shop and pub, there are some lovely walks straight from your door. The stables is set in 1.65 acres the majority of which has been left as a wild flower meadow, it must have looked lovely in the spring and summer, but now is over grown and very unsightly and needs to be cut. The small area in front and to the side is a garden area, but this too needs attention as parts were very over grown and detracts unfavourably to the look of the stables cottage, which is such a shame as with a little TLC it could look stunning.

We had a superb holiday in this surprisingly spacious cottage - one of the nicest we have stayed in.

It was beautifully clean and comfortable and had pretty much everything we needed (though a smaller baking tray, a couple of microwaveable bowls and some weighing scales would have been handy). The milk and biscuits awaiting our arrival were a nice touch and very welcome! The garden, with its wild area, pond and fruit trees certainly make this property unique - it was impressive in September, but must be absolutely glorious in the spring and summer. Even though we were within the village, the peaceful surroundings made us feel like we were in the middle of nowhere - wonderful!

Perfect little retreat after spending the days at Chester and surrounding areas.

Family of 5 with 6 month old, 8 & 11 year old. Kids loved the garden setting and loft bedrooms. Would recommend to friends and family.

A lovely getaway with nature all around.

A perfect, peaceful place to relax, and a must if you're a nature lover. The land/large garden in front of the cottage has been left to grow wild with plenty of fauna and flora, and has a pond. The cottage has a spacious kitchen (recycling facilities) and living room with plenty of books to choose from. The master bedroom is also spacious. We used the second bedroom as well as the box room as a bedroom, which is petite but great as a spare room. Downstairs bathroom, and toilet and washbasin upstairs.The garden at the side of the house has a washing line and picnic table, and a secure shed to lock away bikes etc. The local shop 10 minute walk (very friendly owner) with pub opposite the shop.(we didn't visit). Recommended local attractions - Delamere Forest and Anderton Boat Lift. Plenty of leaflets in the cottage on local and not so local attractions.

Loved the location and appreciated the attention paid to the wildflowers and grasses which attract pollinators.

The pond too attracted insects especially dragonflies. I would suggest though that the grasses near to the cottage, especially near the French doors from the living room, would be better cut back a little to give better access to the lawn and pond. Found the TV difficult to operate, but spent evenings outside. Great location in village 5 mins from shop and pub/restaurant.

The cottage is located in a lovely quiet farming environment and is well equipped with everything you need to enjoy your family self catering holiday.

We had a really lovely stay in this great little cottage.

It is well equipped and comfortable, and would recommend. Only one point of caution! The exit drive is almost hidden and immediately onto the lane. A mirror opposite might be a good idea.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the stables, lovely and quiet .

The cottage is cozy and I enjoyed being able to sit out in the garden and listen to the birds even in March. Will be looking to go back as it's so much more relaxing than a hotel stay.

Comfortable cottage in rural surroundings.

...love the wildness of the land, the trees, plus the pond. Not the best time of year for a visit weather-wise but was lovely to see the blossom starting to come out in the surroundings. Conveniently located for exploring Cheshire - we love Chester & Knutsford particularly. Comfy bed & ample clothes storage, handy to have the dressing table & chair too. Would definitely recommend. We stayed as a couple but the other bedrooms looked cosy too.

The property was very good for us as a family of five.

It’s well equipped and spacious. It was warm and welcoming, after a long drive for some of us. We had plenty of room and our 8 year old lived her little bedroom under the eaves. It was ideal for us, as we live in large cities. Some constructive feedback- The garden was very overgrown but it was so wet when we were there, we didn’t venture out. However, it didn’t look great from the windows or on arrival. The kitchen is spacious but would benefit from a dishwasher. Some of the mugs, and the cutlery had to be re-washed before use. The signage at the gate is not great and barely visible from the road. We drove up and down the Lane before we found it. Otherwise, we’ve had a lovely stay and would recommend.

Really well setup property, with everything you could need. It gave us a perfect opportunity for a peaceful break but with lots on doorstep to get to easily. Nice touch of some Welsh cakes and pint of milk upon arrival too.

Lovely place to stay and a good base for exploring the north west.

Just a few issues, the tv remote still doesn’t work properly and the iron is broken. Could do with thicker duvets for the colder weather.

The only downside of the property was the remote for the tv wasn’t working.

Everything else exceeded expectations - the place is beautiful, bright, clean and so welcoming. We will definitely be back!

A lovely hidden gem of a place, surrounded by gorgeous countryside.

The Stables were perfect for our family getaway whilst we visited family in the area and we were so happy with how quiet, private and "left alone" it was. Clean, stylish and just utterly charming with everything we needed for our holiday. We will be back!

The location was great for exploring the local area and the cottage had everything our family needed (2 adults, 3 children). Would definitely book again!

We had a fantastic week at the cottage and have found our little haven of peace and tranquility nestled in the Cheshire Countryside.

We chose this location to be close to family so we could visit and they could see us while adhering to all of the local regulations - it worked out perfectly. The cottage was great in ever way and we are planning our return visit at the earliest opportunity - Fabulous.

Wonderful setting.

Grounds are a wildlife paradise but you will need wellies to fully explore on damp days. A spacious feeling and warm cottage with plenty of storage space. Nice local pub but do take a torch and light/ reflective clothing in the winter months as a short walk in dark lane. Lots to do within a 15 mile radius. Our satnav took us to the middle of Cow Lane with the postcode but it is first driveway on right approaching from bag lane - literally about 20 feet down.

The house is great and we were very good, but we had to return a week earlier than planned to Spain due to the restrictions of the Coronavirus.

I think this is a reason for greater cause and that the company should have returned the corresponding part of the reservation, as requested. We will consider it for future reservations.

Great cottage in a lovely surroundings.

Lots of wildlife about and nice a quiet. Has everything you need. If I was been a pit picky a hover would of been handy. Not keen on the staircase directly outside the kids bedroom, maybe a stair gate should be available. All in all very happy.

The setting is very picturesque and calming, which is all you need in a place to stay.

The house was bright and spacious with a lovely family kitchen/dining room. Lots to do in the local area and a great base to come home to each day with lots of opportunities to explore wildlife on land and in the pond (nice to have identification books in the property so that we knew what creatures and plants we had discovered). The only thing that could have made it even better would be if more of the large garden had a bigger area that the children could have played in (the very long grass made it a bit tricky to play football in).

The Stables is a fantastic place to spend time.

Fresh milk and Welsh cakes in the fridge when we arrived. Very peaceful with a garden teaming with wildlife. Truly amazing place.
