Beautiful cottage in the countryside, lots of lovely walks with the dog, literally on the doorstep.

Lovely spacious garden, easy off lane parking. Great location, easy to pop across to Wales or visit Chester city or shopping at the designer outlet. Highly recommend the cottage and its lovely hosts.

This was a lovely cottage to stay in.

The charm of an older cottage but comfortable and modern enough inside. The location is perfect if you like peace and quiet - apart from birdsong. Great as a base for walking on the hills right on the doorstep.

Fountain cottage is a beautiful quiet property it was clean and warm .

We spent alot of time outside in the well maintained garden. Next to this is a haven for birds . We saw Wren , Tawny owls, Robins , Blackcap , blackbird and whitethroat among others . From the property is lovely walks up the hill and through the woods or down to a lake . We would highly recommend a visit here for lovers of nature.

The Cottage is well equipped and charming and is ideally located if you enjoy scenic walks to local villages and pubs and enjoy prime Cheshire Countryside.

Our Christmas stay was disappointing.

The cottage is very quaint and in a lovely rural location, the beds are comfortable and the shower was good. There are stunning views at the back, spoiled slightly by the tarpaulin covered Romany caravan in the back garden. Unfortunately, our arrival was not welcoming - we had asked in advance, so knew there would be no Christmas decorations, despite us paying a premium for Christmas week. The cottage was only 11 deg C on arrival mid-evening, there were no logs or kindling inside for the wood-burner, and just 6 matches. There were no welcome items like a pint of milk. The kitchen was not well-equipped at all for cooking, only minimal items supplied (saucepans, frying pan, colander, jug and 3 or 4 utensils) and very little work surface space. We were only left 2 dish-washer tablets and a tiny amount of washing up liquid for a 7-night stay (though 2 kitchen cupboards had an array of general cleaning equipment, where we found a dish-cloth). The dining area is directly at the bottom of the stairs, so cramped and awkward and the twin bedroom layout requires you to climb over a bed to get to the chest of drawers. We would not recommend this cottage to anybody with mobility issues (it is an old cottage, so the stairs are steep and narrow), or to anybody with young children (the twin bedroom and living room roller blinds have unsecured looped blind cords and furniture directly in front of them). It was icy during our stay, and the decking and steps at the back door were very slippery, with no salt to put on them. The front door couldn’t be used as the sofa is in the way. Sadly, not what we had hoped for, but many of our concerns could be easily rectified.

Dog friendly with lots of dog walks on your doorstep . Roadlinks not too far way with many attractions nearby. very relaxing ,homely, and warm We had a great time ..

A lovely historic cottage which is cosy and comfortable.

I would be glad to stay again. The stairs are steep so maybe avoid if you have bad knees, but this is to be expected in such a property. It is full of character. The heating keeps it nice and warm. And I liked the bureau in the lounge to sit at writing my letters. Reasonable internet connection too. It was lovely falling asleep to the sounds of owls and other birds. A beautiful place to get away from it all for a week. Thank you Marisa and Ray xxx

Property cosy for a couple but we found it cramped for our three adults: tiny dining area; gloomy and awkwardly arranged twin bedroom which was cold and damp on arrival (thank you to Ray for quickly fixing the radiator which helped warm the cottage comfortably) and noisy due to stairs and bathroom overhead.

Recognise old properties attract spiders and flies but didn’t expect to find so many when the cleaner had supposedly just left (in a hurry? Empty cleaning products also left randomly). Extra bannister would be helpful on steep stairs. Dilapidated Romany caravan on driveway an eyesore. Location and weather real plus points for us especially as nowhere for wet and muddy kit. Given expense of property a Welcome pack, even a pint of milk, would have been appreciated. On a plus the sofas were comfortable, the kitchen sufficiently equipped and our dog enjoyed the large and secure garden.

I had a wonderful, 1 week stay at fountain cottage, with my beloved cocker spaniel ' Honey'.

The overall aesthetic of the house and grounds, were like something out of a fairytale and found it completely enchanting. Would stay again.

Fantastic stay at fountain cottage enjoyed my week with family garden had lots of space and privacy we had 2 cars plenty of space for parking garden was great for our dog lovely view from garden kitchen had everything we needed lounge was cosy and beds were comfy I'll definitely will be returning as so much to do within the area many thanks

The listing was accurate but didn’t do the property justice.

The garden, decking area and view were all a wonderful surprise. The location proved to be perfect for Chester park and ride, Liverpool park and metro and access to North Wales. Switching between eating out and eating in, the kitchen facilities were excellent. Though we were only a party of two, the cottage could easily support the four in the listings. Definitely recommend trying this beautiful cottage.

Beautiful surroundings and location.

This comfortably furnished cottage is in a peaceful location.

Kitchen had everything needed, comfortable bed. From the garden table just outside kitchen door we enjoyed sunny mornings, sunrise, watching birds. We found Cheshire to be a lovely county to explore; also popped into Wales. Walks from the door- though unfortunately we had no map. On arrival owner texted to check everything was fine. Easy to recommend.

Quaint cottage in lovely quiet rural location handy for visiting our relatives and other interesting locations.

Accommodation was clean and comfortable if a little compact, but to be expected from this style of old cottage. The beds were comfortable which is important for us especially after a long journey and busy days out. Some visitors with mobility issues may find the steps up to the rear decking to gain access awkward, and it has a fairly steep narrow inside staircase. But for most this all adds to the charm and character of this lovely little house. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful and I would recommend this cottage.

The house is in a great location with lots to do in the surrounding areas. The smart tv is a bonus after a long day out with the children! With the fire roaring and a movie on, it made for peaceful, relaxing evenings!

Had a lovely break at Fountain cottages.

Proper old world charm in this former Peckforton Estate property, but with all mod cons. More than lived up to the pictures, with an immense enclosed garden which was ideal for the dog. Great walks from the cottage, and excellent eating pubs nearby. Marissa and Ray made sure we were happy, and had everything we needed. Thoroughly recommend.

Wales as well as National Trust / English Heritage properties nearer to Peckforton. There are some lovely walks straight out of the cottage gate and the garden is delightful to sit in! The use of the washing machine meant that we took home clean clothes with no laundry to do when we got home! Bonus! We'd stay agif we were in the vicinity. Marisa and Ray were very helpful

This property ticked all our boxes.

It was well presented and very comfortable in a beautiful setting. It had all the facilities we needed and more. Loved the welcome basket for us and Ruby (our dog). Marisa and Ray were very welcoming and checked that we had everything we needed. Would defiinitely reccommend. Regards Pete and Gill

The cottage was even nicer than it looked on the ad, absolutely beautiful, the garden and surrounding countryside was simply stunning, we identified 40 different types of birds in the vicinity via a bird finder app.

The cottage was very comfortable and the wooden terrace is lovely to eat on when the sun is shining. Would very much recommend to anybody looking for an ambient relaxing break.

Dirty cottage, full of dirty webs, no toilet paper on arrival had to phone the owner who didn’t think it was an essential need, but they did bring some, no access to the washing machine, freezer or seat pads for outside seating, hardly any kitchen products, travelled all the way from California as just relocated back to the UK and this was a massive let down.

The cottage was cozy and brand new lovely decorated.

The ceilings, the floor, the kitchen... everything has a special touch. Beds are comfortable and, even having one only bathroom, it has a good shower and an amazing bathtub. The owners are a helpful and nice couple who make everything in their hands for you to enjoy the stay. A nice place to stay and enjoy the surroundings.
