Lovely little cottage in the Cheshire countryside.

Ideal for exploring the Cheshire countryside and the North Wales coast. Owner warm and welcome and on hand if we needed them. Everything in the cottage that you might need for a stay

Great location, very quiet.

Cottage is nice enough but for a few relaxing days away I expect more than 'nice enough'. Definitely needs some TLC and a touch of luxury here and there. The sofa is very uncomfortable with cushions that slip down and expose metal bars that must be part of the sofa bed. Main bed dips in the middle, feels a bit like someone's just made up their spare bed for you to stay the night, rather than a big cozy cottage comfort feel. One night was so uncomfortable that I had to get on the sofa at 3am. Shower was a bit patchy, one day it was perfect and very hot, the next day could hardly get it lukewarm. Definitely be a nice idea to provide a little bottle of milk and a few well presented basics like tea bags and sugar. After a long drive the last thing you want to do is go shopping immediately, you like to grab a cuppa and just get sorted out. A few scabby old tea bags in an grim plastic tub in a cupboard just doesn't cut it. These things matter when paying almost £400. Plates, bowls etc were tiny, a few corn flakes and a tiny splash of milk and the bowls were full. Dinner plates had to be balanced so food didn't fall off, they were Moore like side plates. And I have to mention the situation with flies. Don't really know what was going on but there were dead flies appearing on the kitchen window sill constantly. We had to pick up at least 20 in loo roll and flush away. Not sure if it's related to the skylight as we spotted flies up there. TV volume only goes up so far then remains at one level even though you're pressing up on the remote. No batteries in dvd remote so had to keep switching the batteries from dvd to tv remotes which was annoying. On the plus side, the hot tub was great and as I say the location helped a lot. I know it all sounds negative but it's not to be horrible, it's meant constructively. Definitely needs the touch of someone who understands cottage luxury, the feeling of something a bit special and cozy, that's why people do cottage breaks. So whilst it wasn't a bad stay, it was just acceptable. I wanted to leave feeling it had been a very special experience, but I just felt 'well it was ok'.

This is our second time in coming here, i was very excited after honeymooning here 6 years ago!

The setting is amazing, the owners are so helpful in anything you need, the cottage is super cosy, we didn't have to light the log burner at all in october! So relaxing and peaceful! Lovely bed! Great shower pressure! and great utilities! The Pheasant inn up the road with the most delicious food, and if you love a barge, head to tattenhall marina, so cute! and you can hire them for a day or half a day (book in advance) Chester zoo around the corner (book online to save money and time) and chester city centre is lovely with the cathedral there as well I really cannot wait to come again now it went way too quick! Spacious and comfortable one bedroom accommodation that we found clean and cosy.

Set in country side amenities including shops, takeaways and pubs are around a mile away. The Pheasant Inn is well worth a visit. We’ve never stayed in a property with a hot tub and didn’t look for one but really enjoyed returning from a day out and relaxing in the tub. The bed was comfortable and the property generally well equipped. There’s plenty of room to park and the outside area is a good size. We had a lovely week and would recommend a stay a Chesire Cheese Cottage.

Think the cottage needs some TLC.

Looking tired. Weeds from parking to door around hot tub. No cleaning essentials, no hoover, these little things help to keep the cottage in good condition. On the plus side, the hot tub helped after a day sightseeing, cycling etc.

Ian was lovely and helpful and we had everything we needed. The location is lovely and relaxing and so peaceful! We would definitely like to stay again.

the bed was so comfortable great sleep, but the addition of the hot tub is a much appreciated bonus after a walk to the village, a few pints and a Chinese in the letters which is great pub,where the people were much like yourself, and welcoming, friendly, do everything they can to make you feel at home thanks again

We had an excellent stay at Cheshire Cheese Cottage.

The accommodation was clean, bright and really relaxing. Very quiet area with privacy. The owners were around if you needed them and were really friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the local area and certainly made the most of the hot tub at the end of each day. A real luxury retreat! Thank you very much for a wonderful time.

Quant cottage in gorgeous countryside and the hot tub was lovely

Had a lovely stay here at the cottage.

Ian was an excellent host, around if we needed him, he just left us to it. Tattenhall is a lovely little village. Chester is only 20 min drive away. Well worth a visit. You can park all day for £10 which was great as we got the train to Liverpool for the day. The highlight was relaxing in the hot tub after all that walking around.

Very peaceful and relaxing with the bonus of the hot tub, albeit we stayed the hottest week in September. Wonderful hosts, totally recommend.

Really enjoyed our stay, all facilities were clean and of a good standard, very comfortable bed and the hot tub was clean and easy to use.

The manual we received upon arrival was very helpful with tips and activities to explore nearby. The village nearby was pleasant and had everything we needed including fantastic food. Would definitely recommend staying here to others.

What a lovely little cottage!

This was such a great find and we thoroughly enjoyed our week here. Ian was extremely kind and accommodating, we stayed with a little one (11 month old) and we weren’t disturbed, we were just left to get on with our holiday but he was always there if we needed to ask a question. The cottage itself was lovely - just what you need for a relaxing getaway and with everything you need in it - cosy sitting room, decent sized bedroom and a kitchen/diner with everything you could need. The shower was amazing (really lovely pressure!), the sun loungers were so comfy and the hot tub was one of the best I’ve been in - it kept the temperature so well! Thank you Ian for such a wonderful stay - fingers crossed we’ll be back at some point in the future! Sarah, Louis & Georgina

Such a lovely place!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, long walks with a nice little village, local, and Chester being not that far for great days out. The cottage was such a nice stay and the hot tub topped it off, great for catching the sun as well

We've had another lovely, relaxing holiday at the Cheshire Cheese Cottage, having stayed here in August 2021.

We went on walks from the door everyday and had nice meals at the Tattenhall Mariner and the Bickerton Poacher. After our walks it was nice to relax in the private, well maintained hot tub.

Everything was as it should be.

Owner very helpful and attentive. Location idyllic and very rural, and great for easy access to amenities and attractions. City of Chester and Chester Zoo to name but two, a short {20 min} drive. We would happily stay again..

Ian made us feel very welcome!

The cottage is a lovely space, in a beautiful location however we feel it is looking a bit tired and in need of some TLC as it's starting to show some wear and tear (i.e the bed bows in the centre and has been propped up with blocks). We enjoyed our short visit with our toddler but it would have been helpful if there was a highchair available for mealtimes (and easy clean up).

We had a lovely, relaxing holiday.

The cottage is ideally situated for the Sandstone Trail and other walks which are all well marked. We had good weather so we walked everyday and spent relaxing evenings in the very clean and very privately located hot tub. Ian, the host, greeted us on arrival and was friendly and informative as were all the locals. We will definitely book again.

We originally selected this cottage for it's proximity to Chester, as we wished to return there, however with the covid situation we chose not to visit any towns/cities or tourist attractions during our stay. Despite this we had a very peaceful and most enjoyable stay, there are plenty of routes for walking (sandstone trail) straight from the doorstep of this cottage and there is a well stocked shop in Tattenhall, as well as varied takeaways, if you opt to eat in. We hope to return again soon, hopefully in better times.

We just spent 7 nights at the cottage 15 th to.

22nd Aug and had a great time. It has everything we needed big well equipped kitchen comfortable bed excellent shower brilliant hot tub great location for a week to visit the area and also relax and a special thanks to Ian who welcomed us was there if we needed him and left us alone to enjoy our break also. it was a great week dispite the poor weather we got out every day and hot tub each time we got back 10/10

The cottage is absolutely perfect.

Lovely size, has everything you could need for a short stay. Couldn't have asked for a better 5 days. Have already recommended the accommodation to friends looking for similar breaks (We only arrived home yesterday). The surrounding area has everything you need, and there are delicious food options in should you decide to venture out. Absolutely fantastic.

Large kitchen diner, plenty of space for self catering.

The Cottage was easy to find, as described and the hot tub as a nice feature for relaxing after a long walk. We did get a couple of people knocking on the door obviously looking for the owners house, which is behind the cottage, other than that, extremely peaceful. The WiFi was sufficiently good to watch some films which was a pleasant surprise.

Had a wonderful week at the cottage.

Luckily had 6 uninterrupted days of really hot weather and was able to sit out in the garden catching up on some reading. Enjoyed having a glass of Prosecco in the Hot Tub each evening - so peaceful & relaxing. The surrounding countryside is very lush and beautiful and in the field opposite the cottage you can enjoy the company of Ian & Sue’s friendly cows. They currently have 2 cute baby calves and for bunny lovers like me you’ll see them hopping around in the early evening. Ian is a perfect host, very helpful but discreetly unobtrusive. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a home away from home. I’m already booked in again for July! - Jeannie Alsager

A romantic getaway which was absolutely stunning!

We picked the right week that's for sure for our honeymoon Beautiful location Stunning cottage With an added extra of a hot tub which was so good after our daily outings! Can't wait to come back, Ian was lovely and very accommodating, plenty to do! Epic views and plenty of foodie places to visit! Only downside was coming home! It was a beautiful cottage, very well equipped in a stunning location with beautiful views.

The hot tub was a bonus. The owner was very helpful, just next door, but was unintrusive. It was one of the best cottages I have every stayed in. Had great eating places near by, and well located to explore Cheshire. Very clean and comfortable, excellent all round.

This cottage was close enough to explore Chester, but in a quiet location for us to relax and have a well needed break. (the hot tub was a bonus) Fantastic eating places just down the road, and the facilities to cook so you didn't even have to leave the cottage if you didn't want. A lovely well appointed cottage with the added bonus of A wood burner and a private hot tub.

Very close to Chester and two pubs within walking distance. Owners are very friendly and can't do enough to make your stay very comfortable. I would highly recommend it.

Overall we loved staying at the Cheshire Cheese Cottage, i was abit wary booking a hotel as we have a 10 week old baby but this it was perfect for the three of us.

The location was lovely and we managed to do a lovely walk in the countryside and also wasn't at from Chester to do some shopping. The cottage itself was so comfortable and clean and the owners were lovely and just next door if we needed them.....all round we was very happy and would definitely be booking again in the future.
