Bargate Cottages are a pairing of beautiful, characterful terraced cottages resting in the charming village of Castleton, Derbyshire, well placed for exploring the Peak District National Park. Both cottages house plenty of amenities for guests, off-road parking, a variety of sleeping arrangements, and character living spaces with wooden roof beams and furniture selected to complement the age of the houses. The rear garden is a shared space filled with beautiful flowers, as well as sitting areas tucked away among the shrubs and trees. Castleton is ideally placed for exploring the picturesque Peak District location. Built by Henry II on a hilltop, Peveril Castle, is a ruined 11th century Norman castle overlooking the village, with a delightful picnic area and tons of history to discover inside. Venture towards Peak Cavern, which is the UK's largest cave entrance with guided tours through a network of caves and unusual rock formations - so much to discover inside. The picturesque village of Castleton nestles in the beautiful Esk Valley, in the heart of the North York Moors National Park. Surrounded by stunning scenery, this bustling village offers superb amenities including two pubs, both serving great food, a convenience store, deli & tea rooms. There is a railway station serving the Esk Valley and Whitby, which also links with the steam line to the attractive market town of Pickering. The Camphill Village Trust community of Botton is nearby, with its craft workshops and shops selling home produced food, craft items and books. The historic city of York is just over an hour away, and the coastal towns and villages of Whitby, Staithes, Robin Hood's Bay and Sandsend with its lovely beach, are within easy driving distance, and well worth a visit.
