Little Bargate

This is our 3rd visit to Little Bargate we had a very enjoyable holiday but found cottage a bit chilly this time as the heating did not come on.

luckily there was a lovely gas fire in the living room. Apart from that lovely holiday hopefully we will be back soon.

We enjoyed our visit to Castleton, but unfortunately ‘Little Bargate’ needs some urgent maintenance, particularly in the bathroom.

Bathroom The extractor fan did not work Part of the toilet flush button was missing The sink plug needed adjustment – it didn’t rise properly The lower end of the shower adjustment rail was not properly fixed to the wall Several lights were missing or not working. In fact, only two small bulbs worked The lower hinge on the bathroom door was not attached to the frame ! Bedroom One of the mirrors had obviously been removed from the wall and was merely propped against it – a safety issue Kitchen The light in the cooker hood over the the hob did not work General There were no instructions for recycling or rubbish

Smashing cottage in a great location.

Really good, interesting back garden. Well equipped, we found everything we needed. We couldn't get the heating to work though there was plenty of hot water, however, it was 30 degrees outside which may explain the heating not coming on! Wine and milk on arrival was a nice touch.

Really enjoyable stay great centre for surrounding countryside.

Everything was lovely and very cosy.

The only gripe was when I stripped the bed on leaving. A big stain on the quilt made me feel yuk.

Perfect location to explore the walks around Castleton and nearby villages Little Bargate is a great place to stay.

Deceptively spacious with large kitchen, cosy lounge and dining room just along the hallway, and a comfortable bedroom upstairs and spacious bathroom. A perfect place to call home for a few days.

Great position - a very busy weekend with lots of people in the area owing to the weather, but the cottage's location meant it was very peaceful.

A lovely back garden with splendid views. The owner is very welcoming and helpful. I would return!

An amazing place right in the centre of Castleton.

The cottage itself is very cosy with the most amazing garden. We are already planning to go back for a week in the summer. We're really looking forward to a barbecue in the garden after a day of hiking.

Our stay was very pleasant and comfortable, we really enjoyed ourselves.

But the cottage could do with some TLC, the lights on the mirror in the bathroom didn't work, the coffee table in the TV room had a broken leg, these things could be easily sorted....

Great place to stay.

Highly recommended. No problems at all. Will definitely be back next year.
